  1. Don't forget Chris Hinds and myselfs UK release list: UK release list A PAL rarity list is really quite impossible to achieve accurately as many games received different volumes of distribution in different countries. Hence to label a certain PAL game "ER" may apply in Germany but then it could be "U" in the UK. Then again, what about Commavid releases? These saw distribution in PAL on mainland Europe but never made it to the UK. To label one of these games ER/UR would be misleading to any new collector in the UK as they would be under the impression that they could find it if they looked hard enough. The NTSC list only works really because its based in one (or two) countries - then again it can still be wide off the mark because distribution of games could have been centred around the East coast or West Coast or wherever. As an example, it seems that Exus release(s) (Reflex & Jogger with the mat) seem to be found more often in the Florida area. I appreciate that when you first start collecting you need some sort of guide to help you out, but it really is better to work it out for yourself. You soon get to recognise how hard a cart is to find. Watch your countries auctions (in my case Ebay UK), ask other collectors and use your eyes when out hunting! Cheers Steve Rich
  2. Wow, Nuts for 10bux is a bargain! A friend won a PAL Mangia on Ebay.de the other week for $8 - as a BIN! All the (3) Technovision releases are very impressive graphically, and were original releases. Really cool labels and cases also! You can also find them in Holland too iirc. I remember I was bidding on a Nuts and a Pharaohs curse on Ebay about six months ago. I bid up to about $100 each and they went for just over (natch!). Also, the seller emailed me privately after the auction and offered me a Save Our Ship. I sent back an offer of like $150 but he mailed me back saying my offer was very low (!) and it went for like $300 to a US collector. Ah well, such is life. From what I've seen, SoS seems to be the hardest to find. Jahfish - If you see any others for like $40, pick them up and bring them to Eurocon! Cheers Steve Rich

    PAL Boing!

From what I've seen over the past few years, PAL Boings seem to crop up quite a bit around London (perhaps where it was only widely distributed in this country). I remember a collector picked up six in one year a few years ago. It seems that most never had a label attached, though some are found with labels (early versions??). Its definately not as hard to come by as the NTSC version - perhaps on the same scale as PAL/NTSC Cakewalks. A sealed PAL Boing went on Ebay UK last year sometime for £70-80 IIRC (roughly $110-120) HTH Steve Rich Chester, UK.

  9. Hey Guys Thanks Marco! Just how bizarre is that label?! It would be interesting to find out which kind of box it came out in. Steve Rich
  10. Hey all Does anyone have (or are able to point me in the direction) of scans of the labels of the Silver label "Snoopy & TRB", (as mentioned on P87 in DP6) or a scan of the very hard to find PAL Pengo? (which apparantly is of a different label style to the NTSC release). Thanks in advance Steve Rich

    PAL 5200 Games?

Taken from the CCNUK compatibility list (probably where you read it in the first place): == Atari 5200 Only ever sold in NTSC. A PAL version was recently discovered, along with three PAL cartridges. However, it would not run NTSC 5200 cartridges. == Recently discovered meaning earlier than 96-97, when I first read about it on the list. I have this feeling someone told me it was owned by a guy in the UK, but I'm not sure on that. I'd guess that the only PAL 5200 games in existance are all prototypes, or early preview copies, when Atari was thinking of releasing the system overseas. Does your friends Star Raiders work on an NTSC system? As for the rom dumps, perhaps they were labelled as PAL by someone who didn't really know - perhaps the colours were off (or something) and they thought they'd label it as a PAL game. - Or maybe they are dumps of 5200 PAL protos/preview copies. If you find one, I'll take it off your hands - I've still not got round to importing the behemoth from the US Steve Rich

    Videoplexer

    >The scan we have of Marauder is here: >Marauder Scan >That's definitely a white cart. Maybe it >was released overseas with a red cartridge? My PAL copy is white, as is all the other Marauders I've seen. Perhaps it was a pre-production copy, and it was originally going to be in a Red case? Steve Rich

    > Yes, it looks like Marauder on the lable. But a RED case??! I thought it was the light at first, but the Miner 2049er comes out fine.. Or is it just me that doesn't know about the infamous Red Marauder? :-) Steve Rich

    Boxed Games

Hey This thread got me thinking about the percentage of boxed games that I had. Out of 314 titles, I've got 84 boxed which means that 26.75% of my collection is boxed. What about your collection? What about the percentage of sealed games, or games just with instructions? Is my figure about average, or had I better work on it? Marco & Marc need not reply... Cheers Steve Rich

    SECAM

Hey Tempest: You'll find some nice info at this collectors site, including some cool pics of Activision SECAM carts: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dunge.../new/vgames.htm There is also a lot of info concerning PAL label variations, which is an interesting read too. Hope this info helps Steve Rich
  17. Hey guys First of all, great site. The nexus was good, but this is even better! However, I'm still getting the PHP/SQL errors. Took 9 reloads to get to the front page just now, and had a few errors on the way to the message board. I was quite suprised, because its 10:12GMT, and the main bulk of your audience would still be in bed, so whether its linked to excessive hits I don't know. Anyway, heres hoping you manage to sort it out! Keep up the good work Steve Rich Stirling, Scotland
