The VecRam is worth a thought too. You can then download any bin file from the net and play it on your machine. This has the benefit of always being up-to-date, and you can write your own games and test them on a real console really easily!

They do crop up on Ebay UK sometimes, but I've seen issues go for 20-30 quid each!

Interactive Fiction games based upon collecting/being stuck in your favourite game are entirely possible.
For my final year dissertation of a Computing Science degree, I created an Interactive Fiction adventure using the Inform language which compiles into Z-Code - the same format as Infocom games use(d). Interpreters are widely available for many platforms.
I honestly thought about writing one based on finding carts and stuff, but the topic was a little too specialised for the intended audience of my dissertation :-)

Does anyone know more about the 2 different types of label styles that you get with Xonox double-enders? Which type is earliest? Which type seems to be the most uncommon? Are they from different parts of the World?
For example, my PAL Xonox Robin Hood/Sir Lancelot is the same as the NTSC scan in the AA database, whereas Trey's (posted above) is of the "diagonal" style.
Also, are all double enders available in both styles? I've not seen an Artillery Duel/Super Kung Fu in the diagonal style for example - Only in the straight style like the scan (of my cart) here in the database.

The dates you typed out are consistent with what "english" would display. I assume you changed the date format string to "F j, Y, g:i a" yourself?Yes, I followed the link to the PHP Date function reference to see how to change as the "english" setting was driving me mad. I definitely didn't change it in the first instance.

i thought the cassette tapes made by spectravideo were for the 8-bit computer system spectravideo made. do these also work on the compumate? i think i have one of those spectravideo tapes somewhere: file manager or something exciting like that. Those are for the Spectravideo Computers, like the SV328 or whatever. It seems one "program" was released for the Compumate.
There is more info on this recent thread:

Very common. The best boxing game for the 2600 though I feel.
It doesn't have an entry, because, unlike other games from the RS Series, it was released in NTSC with a red label, and the rarity guide only adds PAL games if they have different labels (like RS Soccer and Tennis for example, which were released with silver labels in the US and red labels in Europe).
**edit**
I should add that some of the PAL RS Series games were available in silver labels too (like RS Tennis), though this isn't made clear in the guide.

Road Runner has ol' Bob Palaro's smooth graphical feel to it, another great title!Yes, Road Runner is a great game, one of my top 10 definitely. Luckily, I have it loose and shrinked so I can play it and keep a copy for my collection.
I've just received Bugs Bunny in the post too, so I've got to see how that compares!

Great list, Steve and Chris!I found one little error though: the games listed under the Goliath label, should be listed as Hot Shot. I know for sure, as I have Chris' Hot Shot collection sitting here on a shelf
Hehe, thanks Marco, I'll get it changed as soon as!

Speaking of the Compumate... (And changing the subject entirely) was there ever any actual software made for it? Or was it just a programmers toy like the Magicard?
After a bit of digging on Google, I found reference to the Ebay auction I remembered.
The tape included was PictureMate Animal World.
I wonder if there are any others??

I think Marco is the person to ask - he won the auction I think!

It's not just on the NES, but how about a 2600 version of the excellent NES conversion of Elite?
-
And if anyone wants to sell me one (or a Polo) for my collection, please do get in touch.
Unfortunately I was unable to fly half way round the world to obtain one myself
