  1. I know we all hunt the thrift shops looking for a good deal but does anyone think the Salvation Army over charges for their items? I was in one earlier today and saw an X-box controller sell for $39.95 and 3 Gamecube games sell for $39.95 each. They had one Sega Genesis boxed game that sold for $10. They also had a Monsters Inc. toy sell for $10. Considering they get most of this crap through donations don't you think they are over priced?
  2. BTW, I mean not a single video game or video game accessory.
  3. I have been doing thing for five years and I have *never* found anything at a Salvation Army so usually I just avoid them. Anyone else?
  4. Five Goodwill stores on Sunday and didn't find anything. Maybe next weekend.
  5. Well usually I find *something* at the Goodwill stores but not today. It was pretty harsh out there. My wife mentioned to me that Goodwill is selling alot of their stuff online now so maybe that is why they have dried up. I remember 4 or 5 years ago hitting the thrift stores and always seeing Atari 2600 consoles. Not anymore though. :-(
  6. NOTHING! We went on a road trip today and drove about 200 miles round trip. I looked on the map and found 5 Goodwill stores through out the area we were visiting and thought I would give them a try. Big mistake. I didn't find *ONE* video game or video game accessory. What a crappy day.
  7. Well, yes, I *KNOW* the sandwich is fake but I'm asking about the actual background graphics. Its Rolling Thunder but was it made for the 2600? Or is the whole image a fake? (not just the sandwich)
  8. Wow, is that Rolling Thunder for the Atari 2600 or 7800? Or is this totally fabricated?
  9. I had a looooooong dry spell before the past two big finds. Keep your eyes open.
  10. I had to go out of town to take my father to a hospital for some tests and decided to try a new thrift store in that area. I came across 28 Intellivision carts (some rare) for 50 cents apiece. While in line to pay for these, I noticed a lady in front of me at a different register with 4 Intellivision games. I couldn't make out what they were but they kept giving me the "evil" eye while I was trying to see what she had purchased. Who knows what they were
  11. The best way I've found to strike consistantly in 2600 bowling is to start at the bottom and hook the ball up into the pocket. Since you can control the ball as it goes down the lane (I know, very realistic )then push up and down after the ball first hits the pins. It used to work for me twenty years ago.
  12. Hahahaha, its not off topic considering we ended up talking about Bowling for the 2600. Here's hoping Bowling 2 comes out soon!
  13. Oh, and speaking of candle pins and 5 pins I would love to try those out. I live in the USA where the majority of the country is regular 10 pins. If you ever get the chance to visit St. Louis make sure you stop into the National Bowling Hall Of Fame and Museum. They have alot of cool items as well as four early 1900s wooden lanes with wooden bowling balls.
  14. I bowl two nights a week (I wish I could bowl more but my knee couldn't take it) and I average 215 on Saturday nights and 204 on Tuesday nights (really tough lanes). I've shot 4 300 games (3 in league, 1 in practice) and my high 3 game series is 835. There was a 4 paragraph article about it in the paper. Sex is my favorite past time with bowling coming in a close second (and I mean real close).
  15. Ahhhh, fellow bowling fans unite!!! I was really looking forward to PBA 2001 for Dreamcast just for its online play but Bethesda dropped the ball and canceled it. A really fun bowling game is in Virtua Tennis. Instead of a ball to throw you have to hit the tennis ball into these huge pins. Its really alot of fun. Yes, League Bowling was alot of fun. Ten Pin Alley for Saturn is ok. Its a got a couple different camera angles than the PSX version but the graphics are grainier. The PC version of Ten Pin Alley (yes I own all three) was horrible. They completely changed the control scheme in order for the mouse to be used. Ridiculous.
  16. I wish PBA 2001 were more popular. It would be great to play it against other people online. I have played just about every bowling game in existance. I wish they would release a new one on PS2 or Xbox. Imagine the graphics....
  17. Bowling is my favorite past time. I bowl in a couple leagues every week and love playing bowling games on my computer and video games. 2600 bowling is fun. Back in the 80s, my older brother and I were trying to see who the best was and when we finally bowled a 300 on it we had our father take a picture just to prove to the other that we did it. BTW, the best bowling games I've played were Ten Pin Alley (PSX), Brunswick Circuit, and PBA 2001.
  18. I don't see it listed on the list. Anyone have any ideas?
  19. Hehe, after looking high and low for my SNES controllers tonight (long story, don't ask) I came across a box filled with 10 MIB Human Cannonball 2600, 10 MIB E.T. 2600, 10 MIB Omega Race for Vic-20 and 2 Monte Mole for Vic-20 MIB. I keep uncovering all these games I bought years ago and just forgot about!
  20. Star Wars Arcade in the wild (just last week) Complete heavy sixer for $2 Complete Turbo Grafx-16 for $2 10 games including the storage case for 50 cents not Atari related but a Clark Kent Super Power figure from 1984 (which was a mail in offer only) for $1. Thats about it.
  21. This didn't happen to me but to my nephew. A couple years back he was at a Video Games Etc store (which deals in used video games) and he was good friends with the manager. The guy was tossing out all the Sega CD games in the trash so he asked my nephew if he wanted them. My nephew ended up getting close to 30 Sega CD titles for free.
  22. Thanks for the info. I couldn't find any info at all on the Vic-20.
  23. I was going through my back room and came across a Xonox double ender which had Sir Lancelot and Robin Hood for the Vic-20 computer. I know its off topic but was this considered rare? I can't belive I still have a cartridge from my first computer from 1983. Boy am I old or what?
  24. As I stated before I found the following games early last week at a local thrift shop all for 50 cents apiece. Space Jockey M*A*S*H Mountain King Donkey Kong Barnstorming Cosmic Ark Warplock Spiderman Empire Strikes Back Riddle Of The Sphinx Adventures of Tron Turmoil Planet Patrol Bermuda Triangle Survival Run Commando Raid Worm War I Star Wars The Arcade Game Fast Food Porky's This store I went to have never had any Atari games so as fluke I walked over by the records just to make sure there wasn't any loose carts lying about and my jaw dropped to the floor when I saw a bin filled with 30 or so games.
