  1. I have to go with Club Drive as there is more to do, CF is just too repetitive (similar tracks soooo dull, changing car colors or day/night/weather is all the options). too bad the graphics in Club Drive are so awful or it would be a decent game
  2. the code Curt entered above works on any rev. model FB2. I have working paddles and played the hidden games on my early (different millipede game) and newer rev C.
  3. 1) Battlezone (1980) 2) Gauntlet II (1986) 3) Hard Drivin' (1989)
  4. DVD, Video CD, and VHS players are all hooked up to my TV. the VCR has the features to convert playing tapes to a MPG format on the PC
  5. I would like this too, great idea!!
  6. I want a 'Gauntet II' four-player cabinet, the kids would love it!
  7. you mean Gauntlet?, I have the sequel and (for that one anyway) you're right! I did that all the time playing solo to play a very long game... as soon as a player is about to die, start up someone else
  8. I like this! yes I'll get one, maybe two, for playing emu games on my Mac.
  9. what a great job!! it's not my favorite pac-game but I still enjoy this one
  10. my favorite was Defender, those controllers made this version much more playable than the arcade with all those buttons. I more than tripled my scores. All the explosive graphics are there too, a nice feature for the 5200, the 2600 version of Defender sucks I also vote Joust which looks exactly like the arcade version and buried the dismal 2600 version, and again the controllers made playing this far easier!
  11. I had an 800XL and an Atari 410 program recorder in the beginning, aside from a few type-in games my first commercial game was Blue-Max on cassette, I soon had Asteroids and Ms PacMan carts to start my collection.
  12. I used to try the 2600/Telegames displays at Sears in 1980/1981 and finally got my parents to buy me one (the 2600 package with Combat game included) in mid 1981. Sears also had 400 and 800 displays too. I got my first computer, an Atari 800XL, new in 1983. There was a toy store called 'Child World' that had lots of Atari displays shortly before they closed.
  13. I would like a better vertical scrolling shoot-em-up like 'Dragon Spirit', adding a POKEY to it
  14. There was at least 4 good arcades in my area as a teenager (80s), and the local bowling alleys had some games too. For a short time there was a small arcade opened only a few blocks from home, the center of town, that I would go to daily. the owner was supposudly 'stealing' some electricity from a neighboring building and was closed down As for the others, some lasted into the mid/late 90s before closing and 1 is actually still there today in the same location!
  15. I grew up using both the Atari 8bit line and their 16bit ST series too, loved both! I bought a new 520STFM in '87 to use with a color TV, collecting a huge library, but I got a 1040STE in 1991 with a working SC1224 monitor and a 40MB hard drive that quickly replaced it. I have always lived in central MA, USA, just outside Worcester
  16. I bought my first Lynx on the first at the beginning of it's release, late 1989 or maybe early 90. I traveled about 1 hours ride to the place that had them on it's first release, other toy/game stores in the area didn't get them till a few months later. I remember at some places the clerks didn't even know that an Atari Lynx even was, but they pressured the Gameboy instead because their bosses told them to. I also remember how dissapointing the Lynx's first year was... no new games for months and California Games was getting old quick. I did get Electrocop and Slime World early on too, my fav game was Xenophobe (far superior to the arcade game) Sold it when the Lynx II came out
  17. I not only remember when I purchased my first DVD player - I still have it, working! summer 2001 I finally got a NUON player, the Toshiba SD2300 system (did not need firmware upgrade), along with a controller, Tempest 3000 and Merlin Racing all the same day. and yes, the DVD features it offered blew away any other DVD system I saw from that time and years later.
  18. Given the years I've collected video games it's no contest there are far more of them than my DVD collection I guess about 1,000 games compared to about 200 DVDs (some tv shows), a few VCDs, a few remaining VCR tapes
  19. that game has been mentioned several times, maybe in the modern gaming forum, that link is a nearly year-old wip demo. edit: it's quite different from Jaguar T2K and Nuon T3K that Minter also coded IMO not much fun instead... check out this new game for xbox360 owners Atari Tempest XBOX360
  20. I used to advertise this better if you are still looking try this site I put at geocities some time ago (hyperlink might not work- use copy/paste) http://www.geocities.com/geosteve_99/atarcade/coin-op.html
  21. I saw the videos of this game at youtube and so far I really don't like it. Not just the way over-the-edge background visuals but the game itself looks to very slow and repetitive. I agree the name has to go too a disappointment considering his Tempest 3000 was amazing! but he does need to do something more original. he could do another game based on Defender instead
  22. I bought that game as soon as it was released, along with many other of those late titles. I played this one a lot back then too as I'm really into racing games (much better that CF) yes it's still a worthy addition
  23. I voted for Winky but it sure looks like he's done
  24. the grey one one the bottom is the XF551, I have one myself
