  1. Al, here's an alternative to the enclosed kiosk type of display, fully mobile and farly easy to assemble. I have one (an older version) but then again I worked for the business that makes this for years, I got it as a part of an office cleanout years ago.
  2. Has the late 90's release of Activision's licensed remake of 'Asteroids' been mentioned, it also has the original as a hidden game. these might count too... Hasbro's late 90's release of 'Centipede' as a 3D game has the original too in a somewhat modernized overhead view but plays the same. Hasbro late 90's release of 'Missile Command', a stand alone and part of Atari Revival package, has a modernized version of the original game. There's also 'Warlords' modernized in the Revival package. btw: I also have the Area 51 for windows, it plays good with the mouse but a gun would have helped.

    Atari Bowling

my best so far is 256, so I'll have to keep practicing for that perfect 300
  4. yes, last weekend Do you think that USB to serial adaptor would work? I see them on ebay under $10. I went to Staples today and they want $30 for the same thing also, is there other software that runs the device besides APE?
  5. I recently purchased a new SIO2PC adaptor from atarimax, com website and downloaded & installed the APE for Windows software it recommended. After setting up my 130XE to the PC with the adaptor, the adaptor led light seemed to work so I ran the APE software - cable configuration wizard first when I get to the screen 'turn ON your Atari, wait 10 seconds, click next' I do as is says exactly then my PC immediately crashes, no mouse no keyboard, pull the plug [see image attached] this happened several times. I checked to BIOS and Control Panel and both give the serial port as enabled and working, otherwise I've never used it in fact, when I ran it again to grab this image, I clicked the cancel box and it crashed again - pull the plug can anyone assist? I've several programs I am hoping to dump off my 8-bit disk collection
  6. that's awesome to see the FB2's potentials, to think jusy a few years ago Infoatari was against the idea of any Atari hardware and now we have this!
  7. I like the A800 version best, looks and plays better than those others. I also have a DK clone for the Atari ST called 'Kid Kong' that's nearly pixel perfect to the arcade (adjusted for horizontal ratio) that's great too!
  8. summer of 1994, with Crescent Galaxy and T2K. yeah I remember all too well how so many of the first Jag titles were repeatedly delayed but still I was dedicated.
  9. I'd certainly like to see this an A800/5200 system - not the 2600/7800 systems, there's far too few 7800 titles even including the licenced titles an Atari released console most likely won't have. I'd like to see a USB flashcard port so you can download and transfer games from the web to it, there's tons of A800 titles including basic/demos/and PD at sites like atarimania.com A removable keyboard is essential as many programs require it, even several of the games. And go with the regular joystick ports like the 8-bit computers and not those 5200 sticks, compatible with 2600/7800/FB2 systems. Four of them like the 400 and 800 had! whatever shows up I'm sure I'll like it
  10. I'm guessing the GCC Millipede is the PAL version which would cause a rolling screen on an NTSC television. If any of you can set your TV to PAL that could make it stable, anyone tried that yet?
  11. Does that $30 investment really hurt that bad? there's always ebay. IMO the rare GCC Millipede ones may be worth more
  12. I yell in binary! 00100111011001101!!! seriously, I'm past my violent days and I've never thrown/broken any game or controller from anger. Even when behind I keep my cool, even in last place, or just walk away for a few. Sometimes I let a few words out when playing arcade classic games like I did when I was younger, guess those things are hard to outgrow or maybe because I'm still so bad at them.
  13. First off, how familiar are you with the Atari disk drive , unlike the C64 you need to boot the drive at power-up, the boot disk needs the DOS.SYS file on it. You will have to re-format [initialize] Commodore formatted (or any other) disks to work on the Atari drive. If you can find the DOS named version 2.6f that one has a disk test feature, however that version is limited to single density so I recommend using version 2.5 or one from another supplier to get more capacity per disk.
  14. Here's some of GCC's history here, this game is what started thier involvement with Atari. Super Missile Attack coin-op
  15. I have the Atari version (although I have the GCC version ROM to play on my emu), I'm glad as I prefer this version. the screen is very stable and clear which keeps the game playable and enjoyable
  16. If I remember right, it's been about 10 years, using Atari's DOS XE has a date and time setting, both of which are recorded in file saves. The DOS XE menu will help you with the settings as a guide.
  17. This is fantastic, better than I hope for. I tried my Trak-Ball controller and that works fine in it There is no rolling on Asteroids Deluxe or Millipede as others have mentioned, symptoms are just like that post up a couple rows. guess I got a good one
  18. I got mine friday at Sturbridge, MA walmart, they had 3 left. I noticed several of the early Jakks and the FB1 now marked for clearance.
  19. I went to 2 Walmarts, Best Buy, and Gamestop over the weekend and still no FB2 yet Looks like we'll be one of the last to get them.
  20. I have a boxed Super Pong, there's no mention of the AC adaptor included written on the box, instead it does mention that batteries are included.
  21. I poured plenty of quarters into Atari's 'Blasteroids' in the day, beat the first 2 levels many times. Xybots ruled too. Other mentionable that quickly come to mind are Rolling Thunder, Silk Worm (with 2 people) and the classic Venture.
  22. huh ??? I'm glad I bought an STE computer instead, not having to go through all that is well worth it.
  23. I've tried several version of home Joust, I liked the 2600 version as a simple translation but not as much fun. The 5200 version is much better and is not crippled by the bad controllers.
  24. I remember reading about Atari Games/Midway working on an 'online compatible' version of the SF Rush 2049 game, which unfortunaly was never seen. There was a story about it at the old atarigames.com website Does anyone have any more info on what became of this project, or how many cabinets were actually made? I found this image a few years ago...
  25. I'd like to have seen a 5200 adaptor for the 7800, would have been cool. I know the was a prototype adaptor that plays 7800 games on the 5200, one was shown at last summer's VFC East show
