I paid $250 for a refurbished Xbox 360. I don't actually remember how much I paid for my original Atari 7800 or Genesis. The thing is though the 2600 cost $200 in 1977. That would be about $650 today.

I think someone must be smoking weed to pay $420 for one. It makes paying $150 for one new seem like a bargain.

The only driving game I have that plays on my 360 is Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. It's an Xbox title. You'll have to find it online but it's a lot fun. Flatout Ultimate Carnage for the 360 would be a similar title. I downloaded one of the Burnout demos and it wasn't too bad.

I'd recommend trying the demos. Dirt is another rally racing game. Do you prefer arcade type racing games or simulations that are a lot harder to drive? Gran Turismo is exclusive to the PS3. Forza and Dirt try to be simulations so they'll be pretty difficult to control on the hardest levels without buying a wheel. I haven't tried any of the other games.

Which console is this for?

If you really want to get into gaming don't buy a laptop. They're all terrible for gaming. If you happened to get a Mac laptop you'd have to make sure it had one of the Intel processors so it would be able to run games through Windows or it would be completely worthless for gaming......but you'd still come back to all laptops being bad for gaming unless you're only going to be running MAME or something.

Now you need to shoot for 2800, 5200 and 7800.

I guess I got lucky. I think it only took me a couple of weeks to get my 5200 A/V mod. I only had to harrass Mike a couple of times.
