My site about Brazilian Atari clones and videogames is back
charin replied to charin's topic in Atari 2600
Thank you guys! Unfortunately I have no much information about the Brazilian Superchargers, but as soon I collect some info I'll put in the site. Thank you for the suggestion. -
I updated and moved my old site to: http://vgmuseum.8bitcomp.com/

It is really a Master System (not just another NES clone from Taiwan), because Tec Toy was authorized by Sega to sell their consoles and games in Brazil. I found this page using Google. It seems this system isn't so new (message posted in August), but I only found it once, this weeked. http://www.smspower.org/forum/messages/19046.html

"The most sucessfull videogame in Brazil is now much more versatile. With 27 super games in memory, the Master System Handy brings new challenges, fun, and emotion to their players. The Master System Handy follows the concept of portability and low weight. Weighting only 193g (without batteries) it is easily connected to the TV through the supplied A/V cable. With his anatomic and comfortable format, the Master System Handy allows a better playability, giving more realism to games. And the easy handling, that allies high performance and precision of commands to the precise and fast answers. The Master System Handy works with 4 AA batteries, or with any external 5V-25VCC power supply available in market." Some additional info: This weekend I went to a store and saw this console for the first time. Unfortunately I don't remember if it features a slot for external games. Cost approx. US$ 35-45. It seems to be available only on popular stores with cheaper electronics.

Yes, probably it uses the PAL-M system, showing a b&w image on NTSC-only TV sets, unless they created a NTSC product because it has A/V output and most modern TV sets in Brazil support both PAL-M and NTSC.

Hi, After a long time I updated my trade list. Some things are still missing in both trade and want lists, soon I'll complete them. I'm always looking for 8-bit computers I don't have. trade.8bitcomp.com For the friends who lost contact with me, my old e-mail address ([email protected]) is no longer active. You will find my name (charin) in the recommended traders list. Thanks, Sergio

Registering w/ Mercado Libre/Livre? Worth it?
charin replied to Cootster's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Well, I live in Brazil and I can offer some Brazilian carts for trade... Some people are very trustable (like bonacorsi on eBay, he sometimes sells on ML too), but other not. Unfortunately there are a lot of people on Mercado Livre that don't give a full, honest description of the items they are selling. Some just say the "carts are tested", but don't give details about the labels. Some sellers has bad communications too, and most of them don't use PayPal... Note: Most Brazilian carts have some kind of label damage/wear. There are only a few in the wild that looks new. Most Brazilian Atari 2600 carts are loose, some types of boxes/manuals are rare (e.g., Polyvox). Warning: before bidding ask for the international shipping prices and if he accepts PayPal. Also ask if there is any additional cost to use PayPal to pay him (some time ago a guy asked extra 20% to pay him using PayPal!). Remember the seller to use a good packaging. Packages from Brazil usually takes 3-5 weeks to arrive. Warning 2: Mercado Livre don't give any warranty to you. eBay is more secure. There is not much security control in ML, anyone can sign up and post a fake auction. Personally I have bad experiences with Mercado Livre. Some months ago I purchased a small lot of Atari 2600 cartridges from a guy on ML. He took a lot of time to send it (since I live in same country), and some carts came not working, and a couple of carts also came physically damaged. Best regards, Sergio www.charin.org -

Hi Marco, Unfortunately, I already found in a local flea market a Brazilian Imagic cart with a very unusual label... When I come back to home I checked it and the label was actually printed by someone with a laser printer, over a red paper. The glue side of the label was very white and clean for a 18-year old cart... And the cart was not working too. Best regards, Sergio

Yesterday I received 3 cartridges purchased in eBay and shipped by regular mail from Canada. It arrived pretty fast here in Brazil, when compared to other international packages. But larger packages (like a console or a large set of carts) from Canada tend to take a long time to arrive here, something like 3 months! Sergio

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread

Yesterday I found something really interesting: An early Brazilian Atari 2600 clone, probably one of the first models made by Dactar. I never saw this model before. The case is painted with black ink instead of using black plastic. It also looks to be made of fiberglass or something like that. Sergio -
I made another trade with benjam138 and was perfect. Thank you! Sergio

My vote goes for Freeway by Activision. It has a lot of sprites and colors, but the gameplay... Sergio

This weekend I got a pirate Atari 2600 clone with 256 built-in games (at least a label says that)! I will try to power it up today. Also got some loose Japanese Mega Drive carts. Sergio
-
I like the picture labels of: Adventure Snoopy and the Red Baron Robot Tank (silver label version by Polyvox) And I like the following Brazilian pirate labels: Genus Digivision Galaxi Onyx Jr. ("Microsoft") - green carts! Tron (funny labels) War Games
-
At this moment I only own NTSC carts (Brazilian and North American), but I really would like to get a few samples of Australian and German carts, more for the label. I really like weird stuff. Most collectors where I live hate pirate Atari 2600 carts, but I like such carts. Sergio
