2600 games stink but I played them for hours !!!!
PeeknPoke replied to mrushton's topic in Atari 2600
Everyone is entitled to their view, but Space Invaders on the 2600 is pretty good, not to mention the various game selections just on that cart...Value for money in those days Lee -
oh yes, I agree! It is a classic! Lee

I've seen all these references to MST3K, and I've figured out that A) that means "Mystery Science Theatre", and B) Those silhouettes are something to do with it. Could someone help out an english guy who is a bit lost tell me what MST is? Why the silhouettes in front of Pacman are apt? I feel left out here It was shown for ages for the sci-fi channel here in the UK, Even though i love the old corny films it took the piss out off, the comedy didnt work that well over here than in the states. What Atari game were you the most hyped about?
PeeknPoke replied to Mind Master's topic in Atari 2600
anything Star Wars....I even played Jedi Arena for ages because it was star wars... Lee -
Yes, I bought one (after my last post) And I was disapointed with it. The console itself is brilliant, retro in design and great to use (Dont like that reset button at the front though, lost a game of Asteroids with that there due to hitting it by mistake) There's lots of errors with the system though,my main one with the sound on Missile Command, its sooooo bad compared with the original atari 2600 cart that its almost bugged. The sound on the other games are pretty bad too. But for 25 pounds, and something which is indeed a talking point sat on top of my tv its not bad..but its not great too. Lee

oh dear....Ive been rumbled....you dont want it back now do you? Lee

calling all atari experts...please answer this question!
PeeknPoke replied to mrmio's topic in Atari 2600
maybe in the public domain of sounds, the atari2600 sounds are archived there as computer sounds...They use it alot in the UK here Lee -
its very funny, and very true. I know one of the reasons i collect video game stuff is just because as a kid i couldnt afford every system, but now i can. ...and i can stay up til any time, ha ha Lee

Went shopping today, went into a catalog shop and found that the Atari 10 in one game console has been released in the UK. I really wanted one (25.99) and really played around in my mind would it be worth it. Write ups for this unit were pretty bad, we they? But it looks so cool in its box.... Make my mind up, buy or not! I wanna play Missile Command again on my TV!! I got friends coming up this weekend and what a great talking point that will be, under my TV. Did any of you guys buy it? PeeknPoke replied to Mind Master's topic in Atari 2600
What was on the multi cart and were the games selectable via menu or by switches? No,you had to turn the Atari off and on again to reset to the next game...rather odd but it worked! Lee -

Where were you when you first saw the Atari 2600
PeeknPoke replied to Mind Master's topic in Atari 2600
two times discovering Atari: My mates, Phil, having mega sessions on Asteroids before I knew anyone who had an Atari. My dad had just got a video recorder in 1979 and I remember arguing with Phil about who had the next "killer App machine"..I guess we both did! and..... getting my mate, Gav up at 700am every weekend for a session of Space Invaders and Pitfall on a small black and white tv in his bedroom...I remember being amazed by pitfall..and being amazed by ET....please shoot me now! Lee -
