  1. In general, I try to be very, very careful about which charitable organizations I give money to. So many of them seem only to be interested in self-perpetuation, with the nominal cause an afterthought at best.
  2. It's definitely worthy of a box and manual, too. It's one fine port!
  3. Dangit! Yet again, the only freshman comedy show I enjoyed got cancelled.

Hey, have ya ever heard that Slayer cover of In A Gadda Da Vida from the Less Than Zero soundtrack? My friends thought maybe words like Baby and Honey didn't belong in a Slayer song. I respectfully disagree.

  7. Same-day delivery is the future, my friend. All the common items you need will be staged nearby in special storage locations, ready for someone to bring them to you the same day. Or, to get a $2 digital credit, you can choose to go to one of these storage locations and get the things yourself. These storage locations will be known colloquially as "stores" and it will be revolutionary! That's for new merchandise, of course. When it comes to places like eBay, they'll have you ship all the items you're going to sell to a central location, and then distribute them to their own "stores" based on purchase patterns. There will likely be a charity element, and to garner Goodwill amongst the public, they will probably open up their own "stores" for people to browse through. The future's gonna be awesome!
  8. Do you sometimes think you're going insane? What do the voices in your head think about that?

  9. Thanks for the update! The two titles I'm most looking forward to are King & Balloon and Utopia. Looks like I'm likely to get one this year, one next. Works for me!
  10. The right way to buy on eBay: know what you want, what you want to pay for it...and then patiently wait for it to come up from a reputable seller. And get a refund any time you're scammed.

  11. I'd already moved on to computers by the time the crash occurred, and had sold off my consoles and cartridges in favor of a sweet 400 and then upgraded to a 1200XL as soon as they came out. So the video game crash wasn't a factor for me.

  14. Cutting my big initial list of "I like to play this more than once in a blue moon" games down to 30 of my favorites wasn't that tough. But after that....
  15. In alphabetical order by publisher, since the list is pulled from my database: Boxing Kaboom! Seaquest Adventure Air-Sea Battle Berzerk Circus Atari Dig Dug Dodge 'Em Joust Maze Craze Missile Command Pole Position Sky Diver Vanguard Video Pinball Yars' Revenge Demon Attack Dragonfire No Escape
  16. Yup, Rip Cord is a true gem, for sure.
  17. And it's not just games. Music, movies, TV shows....owning stuff is becoming something only creepy old people who probably smell like grandpa do.

In concentrated form, it can cause catastrophic damage to property. Many studies have shown it played a key role in weakening the structure of the Titanic. It caused many "survivors" of initial sinking to succumb to its dangerous effects in liquid form. First, a loss of consciousness, then death. The fact that it has been found at the center of every cancerous tumor, does not surprise leading oncologists.

It probably would have been banned by some bureaucrat by now, if it weren't at the heart of a multi-million-dollar industry.

  21. Gauntlet (1985) would give you a nice coop launch title.
  22. Gauntlet certainly ate a lot of my tokens and quarters! "The warrior needs food badly!" "The valkyrie is about to die!" That was the only one of those coin gobblers I played very much. The others never attracted me enough to make it seem worthwhile.
  23. The older I get, the more I appreciate the systems I turned my nose up at decades ago.
