  1. Have a look at this great (Australian) site - www.64hdd.com, this maybe as close as you will get.
  2. Although I agree that it is most likely exactly as figgler states, if it were true it really would make the Wii heaven-on-a stick wonderful!!!!
  3. 12 - and now I feel totally inadequate
  4. Ballblazer. The final has come to be an odd selection, the games are so far apart on almost every level.
  5. The stick looks a lot like the C64DTV unit. Is it more solid than that unit?
  6. Definitely arcade stick! I was playing a Lynx that had a 2600 joystick attached and it was great, the unit was in a cradle and the large screen made it very playable. A desktop cradle for the DS with full-sized joystick attached by wire (or remote although batteries suck) would be very nice.
  7. Thanks for the tip Lord Magus, those versions of Kings Quest might even get me having a go at them. It will probably be a while before I get the chance to try ScummVDS as available time is tight, I have all of the hardware though so it's just a matter of research and application. Once done I'll post what I've found.
  8. They both look excellent. I'll have to try out my GBA Flash cart in my DS with SCUMMVM. All I have to do is locate some games code, does anyone have any pointers there?
  9. TailChao & pocketmego - well said! Thanks to AA & the many, many sites like it the Good Old Days are still here.
  10. I really enjoyed the two Discworld games, they are the newest "point and click" I've played and the speech and sounds were really impressive. The last ones I've played were Leisure Suit Larry 1 and Space Quest again, years since I last played them, had forgotten most of the clues and had a great time all over again. I've been trying to find a copy of Sam and Max but to no avail so far.
  11. You might want to check with the AA store. i think those might be also available in pal. perhaps even upon request. If nothign else Aussie, I know they aren't as cool, but most of the ROMS are at least available emulated. -Ray You're right about emulation not being as cool, in fact I hardly ever use Stella anymore, but your suggestion is valid. I will try my luck at the AA store today.
  12. Now this is where I really envy you guys, short of buying a NTSC 2600 I simply miss out on these new games as all of my systems are PAL. Lucky sods!
  13. I was house-sitting in 1978 and there was a 2600 with Space Invaders hooked up to the TV and that started it all and I have not looked back since. Come 1983 and I took a job selling consoles and computers and had pretty much every system at home, over the next 10 years I started to sell off/give away most of my stuff only to fall back in love with it all 5 years ago and start collecting. Another case of I simply did not realise what I was giving away at the time story!
  14. Has it arrived yet? Can you recommend the vendor as I see they have quite a few for sale and was thinking of going that route myself.
  15. Bringing an obscure machine into the discussion, Congo Bongo on the Sega SC-3000 was pretty good. I don't know what the specifications were and it was limited to a few markets but I was pretty impressed with it at the time.
  16. Ballblazer by crickey - and I've just evened up the score.
  17. The site looks good, I will have to explore the controls section as it looks to be quite comprehensive. Cheers.
  18. I agree with one of JB's honourable mentions - I would love to have seen the TI99/8 make it but it would have had to lead, not follow the pack and really be streets ahead whereas the TI99/4A just did not crack it and the peripherals were so bloody expensive.
  19. Wife update - I cooked dinner, bought flowers and looked after the kid so she could get her nails done and presto - she seems to go blind when going into the room she has dubbed my cave! I am sure the blindness is temporary but I'll enjoy it while I can. Now to buy that Dreamcast arcade stick
  20. Thanks for the Chro Mame link Stephen, I have found exactly what I was after from Kyle Linsdtrom. That guy is amazing, he has a full set of technical drawings and assembly instructions for a great Pac-Man cocktail cabinet. If anyone wants to build one like that you really need to check his out.
  21. I would not say they were/are really common but they certainly were reasonably widely available. I saw one in a second-hand shop only the other week in reasonable condition which I would have loved to have brought home but then I would have to find a new house big enough for all of my stuff as I would have been kicked out A really cool piece I would love to have are the old, huge, three-in-one cabinets with the big 26" TV at floor level, radio and turntable, all valves and lovely! Oh yes, I forgot, I also have a great 12" valve bass guitar amp circa 1970 - still going great and amazing volume for 20 watts.
  22. Dreamcast for sure. The way it can emulate other systems so well almost makes it a console MAME (MCME?).
