Anyone with a spare hex nut they would like to offer or sell? It turns out the set from spiderfighter works, so I want to keep that set in tack. Thanks again spiderfighter!

By any chance anyone knows if all the different type of pots use the same size hex nut?

Elliot, would you happen to have the part number of the pot purchased at Radio Shack for future reference if I needed to buy there? I cut the shaft from one of the RadioShack pots to fit. Took about 5min and I had a perfectly working paddle. I also have taken the pot apart and used the shaft from the Atari paddle and the rest of the RadioShack pot. Both ways worked great for me. It was much easier to dissasemble the two pots and make one that works. 1002853

From the picture posted by spiderfighter above, it looks to be a Hex nut which would fit the paddles.

I've been in contact with Spiderfighter since he reply to this post, and have taken up his offer of getting the Hex nut from him. At first, I didn't want to get just the Hex nut, as it will make his set unusable in case his paddles still work (has yet to be confirmed, but he thinks it's broken). He also offered to send the paddles for the cost of shipping. However, since he's from Canada, the cost of shipping is a bit of change. I wanted to explore the option of just buying the pot as suggested in the above post for $2 to $3. This will save Spiderfighter from having to deal with shipping to the US from Canada and I will also have a spare pot. Also from the above post, I"ve learned that the correct pot is hard to come by and it's not being sold at Radio Shack. I just wanted to clarify the matter. Anyhow, I'm greatful for Spiderfighter's generosity. I hope to get the nut from him at his convenience. Thanks!

I was thinking that if I were to buy a replacement pot to get the hex nut, I might as well buy a pot that is compatible so that I can use it in the future if needed. Since Radio Shack does not carry this pot, and this thing is rather rare, it seems I can only get it at Best Electronics. Now I'm back to where I've started. I've emailed Best Electronics and they replied their accounting system is only setup for orders of $20 or more. The pot is only $3.50 and the pot nut is only $0.50. I don't need to order anything else at the moment so I can't order these needed parts. Thanks to those who have offer their opinions. ...and a "D" shaft about 1 inch long, which you won't find at any Radio Shack. They're rather rare from just about any source. 1002366

Zonie, can you verify if this is the part from Radio Shack that you're referring to: 100K Ohm Audio-Taper Potentiometer $2.89 Model: 271-1722 Catalog #: 271-1722 Here's the link to the part: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.js...rentPage=search Thanks!

Thanks! What's the shipping cost from Canada to California (91381)? I can ship you an entire paddle for the cost of shipping. Cannot test it as i no longer have the system but it does have the nut and possibly works.Let me know. 1002077

Hi, I've recently purchased an Atari 2600 system, complete with joysticks & paddles. One of the paddles is missing the Pot Nut; therefore, the paddle knob is loose. I've spent many hours looking for the nut at local harware/improvement stores: Lowes, Home Depot, etc. without any luck. I've finally came across Best Electronics which carries the part; however, there seems to be a minimum order requirement. Currently, I don't need any other parts besides this. Does anyone have an extra Pot Nut the they would like to donate or sell for cheap? Thanks!
