Can you put online a picture of the Atari system, so we can check its condition? Regards

Hi. I want to share with you one of my findings at my local flea market. There are several things about this cartridge. This is a MADE IN ARGENTINA cartridge. Never had one of these before, and never knew Argentina produced Atari 2600 carts. This is a cartridge with no end label, so I had no idea about the game name. This cartridge features no-screws assembly. I arrived home and after cleaned it a little, I hooked up my 2600 and I discovered a couple of things: BAD THING: This is a PAL-N cartridge. My 2600 is NTSC :-( So I can only see bouncing images (No V-HOLD on my TV set) GOOD THING: This is a MULTI GAME cart. Includes the following titles (as far as I have discovered): * Star Ship (Atari) (!) * Slot Machine (Atari) (!) * Othello (Atari) * Slot Racers (Atari) * Flag Capture (Atari) * Freeway (Activision) * Boxig (Activision) * Tennis (Activision) There are ony cosmetics differences, i.e., the word EDU replaces the ACTIVISION logo on the screen. Externally it seems a normal cartridge (no DIP switches). How do you select the game you want to play? You have to turn your console OFF and then back ON and a randomly selected game will show up. You have to repeat these steps until your favorite title appears. I have some questions about this. What was EDU GAMES? How many carts did they produce for the 2600? Did they make 5200 and 2600 carts also? Are there other similar carts around? Regards

Hi I won one of those in a local auctions site, but with some slights differences. Mine supports 1 and 2 chip games. I guess 2 chip games are games larger than 4K. I have almost 80 chips. Some hard to find titles are included. Since I don't have an e-prom burner, I think it's a good alternative for playing those hard to find titles (Star ship, my fav). Unfortunately I still can't figure out how to make work those 2 chip games, only played 1 chip games... I think those chips hide good surprises (Montezuma maybe????). I hope I can setup a web page soon with some more details about the beast. Cheers

And how about Gus Allen? I am sure he did some more painting for Atari other than Dig Dug... Cheers PS: Clint Eastwood / Outlaw comparison rules!

Hi Alex, Al Did you ever think of the possibility of making a compilatory AtariAge PC CD, some sort of "the best of" AtariAge, including roms, scans, etc.? Or maybe a collection of several CDs, a 2600 series, a 7800 series, etc. ? I think i'm not the only one interested in AA off-line browsing, and I gladly buy those CDs. Thanks

OK It seems like the cart reader cannot be built without using an EPROM burner - I dont have an EPROM burner - I dont have a 7800 - Is it possible to build a 2600 cart reader without the help of a 7800 and an EPROM burner???
-
But all I have in mind is just a cart reader! I am not planning burning eproms or something like that - I just want to dump the content of a cart into a PC .BIN file. That's all. Is this interface hard to build? Is there any schematic somewhere with instructions on how to build it? What software do I need? (BTW, thanks for replying, all of you!)
-
No - I don't have something special to dump. But I am interested in the process of dumping a cart - where can I find some information about it? I think AA should have a section describing the entire process, HW and SW involved, and schematics also. BTW, is the 7800 optional for dumping 2600 carts or is it a must? Regards

Hi I need to know how do I get a .BIN file from a cart? I think I need some hadware (maybe a cable to connect the cart end with the PC via COM1 or LPT1?) and some software too (capable of getting the cart info provided by the cable, and save it as a .BIN file?). Any hints are welcome. Thanks! PS: Previosly found a "cart reader" for the 7800 but I am looking for something based on the 2600 architecture.

Hi I bought it from Amazon, and it was worth the wait and the taxes for my local customs (JACKASSES, btw). There's something I didn't like from the book, I expected more pictures from famous people, I mean, I'll keep imaging how was Alcorn's face. All I got was 10-15 pages with B/W pictures. Anyway, the info is something you can't pay. I knew thing I never imagined that existed relative to Atari, the beginnings, the drug problems with the people working there, Kassar and his cologne, Bushnell and dis pizza, etc. I almost read half the book, and it's mainly about Atari history. Regards

Alex About chilean HW&SW, I must tell you: -For the 2600: No software nor hardware was manufactured here in Chile, all I've found is a pirate cartridge (possibly from another country) named 'River Raid' on it, with an altered version for River Raid that doesn't show the Activision logo on startup. Ah! And I found some sort of 'text catalog & startup manual' in spanish telling you the benefits of your newly purchased 2600 and lists some Atari titles (with brief instructions on how to play 'em). -For the 8-bit: I've found some paper publicity about 8bit Atari products (only for the XL line) and a 'chilean' version for LOGO programming language showing the 'ATARI 1985 CHILE' message. It features translated-to-spanish keywords like CUA (from CUADRADO i.e. SQUARE) for drawing a square...it was sold with a spanish instructions booklet (it was sold as cart and disk). No HW was produced here in Chile, the only HW related thing that was done here was to open the Atari PSUs and adapt 'em to chilean voltage specs (here we use 220VAC instead of 110). Hope didn't bore you too much. PD: Sorry 'bout writing mistakes but English is not my primary language :-)

Hi Everybody there! I've been trying to get some video output signals from my 6 switch 2600, but with no results! I tried all 2600 mods in the FAQ, but all I can get is a steady image just for a couple of seconds, then the image starts jumping, and then all I can do is to turn OFF/ON the VCS. Anyone tried a succesful 2600 video mod? Regards!
