  1. Does anyone know a good place to get the Transistors NPN 2n3716 and PNP 2n3792 that bolt to the metal chassis of the monitor? Were are you getting cap kits for $8?
  2. Well here goes I got myself a Battle Zone really cheap at an auction some time back like $60 for a mint cab everything but a monitor. After months of searching I Finally find a 19V2000 monitor for a steal on eBay the person labeled it funny so no one found it got that for a total of $97.00, $43.00 for the monitor and the rest was shipping and handling I bought the monitor not working. So I finally get the monitor hook it up and nothing happens no surprise there everything is totally dead no red LED on the deflection board no glow in the tube. Fast forward a month or 2 I finally get some time to work on the game I got all new fuses and replaced every fuse in the monitor now I get a red LED on the deflection board and the Little neon tubes on the deflection board location NE501 blink on and off every once in a while. There is still no glow at all in the neck of the tube. Oh one other thing the Game does play blind I noticed that a cap was bad on the ROM board location C29 leg was broken off I have the part just haven’t put it on yet. Now when I tried to see if the game still played blind with the monitor with the new fuses nothing happened at all when I hit the start button @#%* right so I unplug the monitor's wire harness and turn the game on again now the game plays blind. Any ideas on were to go next? I’m not exactly sure how the tank is espouse to sound in the game but the sound is a little rough I may need to replace the big blue cap at the bottom of the cab.
  3. I'm looking for XY vector monitor parts for color or B&W vector monitors working or nonworking can be boards or whole monitors. Not looking for any specific model. Just send me a message if you have anything you want to part with.
  4. Hey if your still looking for this game one just went up on eBay today and it looks like its in great shape. Ebay
  5. I’m just about to start this project I just acquired a midway cab just like the original Rampage cab and I have got a PCB and the sound board for the game but I have hit a snag. I can't find anyone that sells an original monitor bezel for the game I can easily obtain the marquee for the game but for some odd reason no one thought it was necessary to reproduce the monitor Bezel as well. If anyone can help me find one of these or can get me a color copy or scan of one they have so I can get one made up on cardboard I would be very grateful. I just don’t feel like waiting for a year till one shows up on eBay. I can also post pictures of the game project once I get a hold of another working digital camera since mine craped out if anyone’s interested.
  6. Well I have hit a snag the guy who said he will do it didn’t respond to my last email. It kind of makes me angry the guy was really nice and all but he wanted to sell me replica panels he made I really didn’t have the money he wanted for them so I told him I would just have to wait on that and would wait for his drawings he was going to email me. He told me he would get back to me the next day with the plans but never did I gave him a week and emailed him but no response since. He may be really busy or just lost all interest because he couldn’t make any money off me. On the brighter side of things a Pong replica did go up for auction on eBay and I got some really good pictures of the control panel and insides of the cabinet to share this should help some in the gathering of information here for this project. If any one else knows of anyone who can get measurements for this cabinet please post this is one tough thing to do and were not having the best of luck. Hope these help some going to have to keep trying maybe he will write me back at some point. I just talked to someone else tonight I may be able to go and measure an actual cabinet in a few months when its restored and put back together so now I need to draw up or get some basic blueprints of the cabinet so I can fill in the measurements. It will involve a road trip out near Harrisburg PA form Philly area but I think it would be worth it to actually see one of these cabinets in person.
  7. Sorry it took so long to get back to you guys I just emailed the guy today and he wrote back telling me he just finished up the measurements for the side of the cabinet and will be sending to me really soon. He just got really busy with stuff so I don't want to rush him since he's doing us a huge favor. As soon as I get some stuff I will post it.
  8. I remember this game as well the arcade near me had one before it closed down I remember even playing it a few times. I did see one on eBay a few weeks back I just checked and don't see it now so it might have sold or the guy didn't repost it. I would keep checking eBay I'm sure one will pop up sooner or later.
  9. Great News!! I wrote a bunch of e-mails to different WebPages and someone is willing to measure their Pong cabinet for us. We will be getting the measurements in a few days.
  10. Well I'm waiting to hear back from the creator of that pong website I posted in here for you I asked him if I was able to draw up some plans with his webpage pictures if he could fill in the measurements by measuring his complete cabinet for me. So let’s keep our fingers crossed that he will agree so everyone can benefit by creating their own pong replicas.
  11. Ok, well I kept looking I came up with the cocktail table plans from a website. Sorry the other website wasn’t the best... I think this will make up for it a little.
  12. So I bought a lot of 55 nonworking games off eBay figured what the hell its only going for 4.99 + shipping a total of $9.80. I figure what I can loose nothing.. the worst thing that could possibly happen is that I clean some and they work the best thing they all work. So I win the lot off eBay for $9.80 and proceeded to clean the contacts of the carts with alcohol and q-tips so here’s what I come up with 37 working, 18 nonworking and one 7800 game 56 total instead of 55 the 7800 game was pole position 2 I can't test it I don't have a 7800.so in picture 1 are the 37 working games notice they are separated the top bunch are fine but the bottom 2 rows all had their black spring loaded pieces removed that protected the PCB's in the carts and since they were gone let me tell you it was a bitch to get them into the Atari to test. The 3 to the right are working sort of Kaboom works fine but I was unable to get the bomb catcher to move in the game either my paddles are crapping out which is a possibility since they were not working to well with the game Demons to Diamonds that I got in this lot as well or the game went bad. Starmaster worked but no enemies came up I didn’t play for long but I think there would be a little more action then just endless space. Star Raiders did something similar but I really don’t remember what exactly since I went through so many games yesterday. picture 1 In pictures 2 and 3 are the nonworking carts after cleaning still nothing any suggestions or anyone need some nonworking carts for homemade game projects? Picture 2 Picture3 So I basically picked up 56 games for about .18c's each and 37 of them worked that's not bad for a batch of nonworking games.
  13. Well it took a long time to get these parts off eBay but their finally in my hands an since I have them now I figured that I better share some pictures. For those who have not seen one off a monitor here’s a 19V2000 yoke all sides. And here's a picture of one of the boards.
  14. This might help you someone got a pong cabinet and restored it on this website maybe he can help you with your project. http://www.rgvac.com/projects.asp?projid=4 On this website the author says "As it turns out, Atari was very efficient as you can get all of the pieces out of a single sheet of 3/4 inch pressboard. I went to Lowes with my measurements and had them rip my sheet of wood in half lengthwise (24 inches) and again at 59 inches. This gave me the two sides, top and front to approximate dimension. Once I got the wood home, I set my stripped cabinet on its side and clamped one of the sides down on it. Using a Jigsaw I trimmed the wood to within 1/4 inch or so all around, then with my router and a template cutting bit I smoothed all the details to exactly the shape of the original.” Now if you print out the pictures keeping in mind the dimensions he states you may be able to guestimate the exact dimensions from the picture and figure out the curves and what not of the cabinet. Since he says he used 1 sheet of wood you might be able to do this very cheaply. If you figure it out or want some help with this let me know I would really like to get final dimensions as well to share with others.
  15. I have just started collecting 2600 stuff again it’s been a while. I was on eBay and I picked up a lot of 6 common carts paid like $3.60 each and their all still in the original plastic and not beat to hell. I thought this was a great find since the games are getting up there in age like me it's still amazing that you can find any carts that haven't been torn apart yet. Here’s a pic let me know what you think and I would like to hear what you guys have found.
  16. Well if you’re on a tight budget like most people I would go to the multi game unit like Mame or Neo Geo or Nintendo Playchoice 10 lots of game small space. If money and space are not an issue then go nuts I would say some of the games I like to play are Asteroids Deluxe which I have and I really want a Pac Man. Old school games with an easy play factor are great for everyone some of the newer games get too freaking complicated control wise and end up making you destroy your game by beating the crap out of it instead of having a good time playing it.
  17. Well here's an update I just bought a ROM burner a nice one too off eBay today. A smarty EPROM burner and it came with a Galaga rapid fire chip and 2 extra EPROM attachments that are Capable of holding 4 EPROM’s each like ill need this. It only cost me $61 + $20 shipping man what a deal!!
  18. I went to Radioshack don't know if you have one near you but they have some replacement bulbs for flash lights and what not. I found a pack of 2, 6.5 volt light bulbs for my Asteroids Deluxe cab there.
  19. Well I found and bought an entire working Ms. Pac Man ROM set now I just need to get some money together and get my self a working Pac Man ROM set. It would be great if I could find someone who has boards now but so far so good.
  20. Well now I did acquire an entire 19V2000 board set Yoke and everything off an eBay auction said they had some problem with the Amplifier circuit because a red light was blinking on the board. Hopefully I can fix this would anyone know what the problem with this might be. I haven't yet received the boards but I want to know what I might be getting in to. It would be great if there was a place that could make these yokes now that I have one I could send it out and get someone to make them.
  21. Does anyone have any working ROMs boards or boards without ROMs there willing to sell? I have been trying for a while now to get a Pac man board or even an Ms Pac man board. They always go for a lot on eBay even nonworking boards go for a lot I would be happy just to get a working ROM set for these games. Does anyone know a website that sells ROM chips or does anyone have any they want to part with? If I could just get a working ROM set I could buy an inexpensive board off eBay that doesn't have ROMs. This is such a great game I really want to have my own (me and just about every other arcade collector in the world). I just recently started playing Pac man on Mame but it’s just not the real thing. I think it’s much better on a real arcade monitor.
  22. I wish I could get new yokes for them my problem might be over I discovered a sight that sells replacement tubes for the 19VARP4 (B&W vector), 19VLUP22 (color vector), so if I could just get yokes for the tubes I could buy boards off eBay. It would greatly reduce the cost but finding someone that has yokes is such a pain I never see them go up often on eBay if at all. So if anyone knows anyone who makes or has any yokes for these tubes or even has an XY board set there willing to sell please let me know.
  23. The reason I’m asking this question is that I stumbled across a sight that can convert Mame to a vector monitor for old school vector games. http://www.zektor.com/zvg/ This is all well and good if you want to use your computer as the arcade platform and you just happen to have an extra working COLOR Vector monitor lying around just collecting dust. But what if you don’t have a Vector monitor and have a full Vector game without one and NEED an easier solution then spending a small fortune to get a Vector monitor. Then there’s always the risk that the monitor will crap out on you after you get it lets face it there old and sometimes they wear out. Has anyone heard of some electronic component that you could wire the PCB or use the original wiring harness and just plug it into a LCD and never having to worry about monitor failure again. Oh and I’m sorry to those I offended by suggesting putting Vector games on to a nonvector monitor. This would also be a great solution to those people who have vector games without the necessary monitor to actually get some use out of their cabinets other than converting them to something else.
  24. I was going to add Air Hockey and Pool Tables, Skee Ball and what not I just forgot. Yeah that’s a great list
  25. I have 2 Neo Geo 2 slot arcade games one of which I converted to a 4 slot. Now the 4 slot PCB I got at an auction and it was in bad shape dirtier than can be. Let’s just say I cleaned the hell out of it like 3 times all the slots with a crappy tooth brush and safe PCB cleaner. I still had some video problems cleaned it once or twice more the same way and adjusted the carts some and eventually got every slot working around 100%. Sometimes I still get the same video trouble with one or 2 of the games mostly with Samurai Showdown for some reason does the same video thing yours did I played with the cart a lot and it goes back to normal. Plus it may be the PCB it self I had a Ninja Combat MVS cart that would refuse to work at all in my 2 slot the 2 slot was a newer Neo Geo Board and then I picked up the old 4 slot board from the auction and the game plays fine as can be in it. Sometimes older games don’t work with newer boards and vise versa. You just have to keep cleaning and messing with the carts they eventually work. Sometime the slots themselves can be worn out and might not be making perfect contact with the carts but hopefully this isn't the case.
