  1. I already posted my faves, but my wife wants to vote too:

    1. Centipede

    2. Millipede

    3. Frogger

    4. Seaquest

    5. Ice Hockey

    6. Tennis

    7. Boxing

    8. Circus Atari

    9. Demon Attack

    10. Super Breakout

Hey,I have a question about millipede & centipede. I know you are a cannon on both games. Your cannon only has a limited space to go around & shoot the worms. On Millipede, there is a shadow box that shows you,how much room, you have to shoot. On centipede, the box isn't there. Can you tell me,why that is & if both games have the same shooting space?

  2. The first event that started the crash was Actvision winning its lawsuit against atari.  It caused several companies to make 2600 games for profit.  It was responsible for the game that were worse then Pac-man.

Had Activision never come on scene, the 2600 would never have taken off as it did. Companies like Activision and Imagic demonstrated that the machine could do amazing and wonderful things nobody would have even dreamed possible.

JMHO, but I think Pac Mac really was damaging to Atari because prior to that Atari could reasonably claim that while its cartridges were $30-$40 and Mythicons were $9.95, the extra $20-$30 would guarantee you a good game. But when Atari couldn't be counted on to refrain from releasing garbage, that eroded people's willingness to spend the extra money.

Looking at different Atari games over the years, the "look" of the games changed. Aside from the high-resolution score digits, Pac Man looks and sounds like a 1979 game. Although a few games from the 1970's have endured well (Combat being a prime example) people in the 1980's generally were not interested in 1970's games.

BTW, I had an Odyssey2 when Pac Man came out, and I had the K.C. Munchkin cartridge. My thought at the time was that Atari was suing Magnavox not for financial reasons, but because K.C. Munchkin made a mockery of the 2600. The 2600 is a superior system to the Odyssey2, but show K.C. Munchkin next to Pac Man and one would never guess.

On the other hand, throw K.C. Munchkin against Hack'Em and that would be another story.

Hey,i had a friend that had an Odessey. You're right. K.C. Munchkin is just like Pac-Man. But now, don't get me wrong,I did like that game system, too. He had a game like Pik Axe Pete. Ok,that game was like Donkey Kong. The guy in the game would cruch boulder with his pik axe & jump them, also. There was 1 game, where the whole board was invisible. You had to know your way around the board to get around.

  3. OK, I decided to make this a poll. I didn't see the new poll button. My vote goes to E.T. being worse. What are your opinions?

    1024425[/snapback]

E.T. was a fun game. It is the same as Raiders of the Lost Ark. You went around looking for 3 phones pieces. It was fun. It was enjoyable. I think Pac-Man was boring. You always had the same maze, each time. The more points you got,it was always the same maze. At least,Ms. Pac-Man had different mazes at diferent scores.

    E.T. is better.

In the game Haunted House,I was wondering. If you play the game for 2 hours,& you have the scepter with you & you hassle the ghost, the bat & the spider, like follow them whereever they go,will something happen to you like will you evidently die in the game or what?

  5. Okay, I'm starting to play a bit smarter, and hit 5210 not too long ago. I haven't thought up any tips yet.

Hey.My name is Bob. I have an atari flashback. But anyway,i use to have an atari2600. I did have Berzerk. I also had about 50 games to the 2600.

But anyway, you want a tip? In the game, you will notice that the robots shoot from their hand or foot. I 4get which. But anyway,if you can position yourself,at the robot's hand or foot, you ought to be able to let the robot shoot in the space btween your head & neck.

  6. Well, I've decided to do a little research and figured why not do it with something I love: Atari? But it's not just about Atari, it's about you as well. Basically here's the deal: I'm not as hardcore as alot of you are about the 2600, then again I might play it alot more than others. Who knows? But for the elite I want to know: WHY? If any of you don't mind some questions and answering them that'd be great. I want to compile some info and see what likes/dislikes you all have and what differences there are among us.

Please note I WILL NOT ask for your name. That's just not cool (some people don't wanna give names over the net and I totally understand).

    1) How old are you?  35

    2) What sex are you?  m

    3) When did you get an Atari?  about 1980 or so. I was a teen, then.

    4) When did you become involved with the Atari? (i.e. you wanted to play this over newer systems at the time or today).  In the '80's

    5) Why the 2600? What does it offer to YOU that other systems, whether old or new, don't?  It was the 1rst game system, offered to me.It was given to me as a christmas present. My friends on my street, had the same system. We'd trade games like every day & keep them for a week & return them.I just liked the 2600.

    6) What drink keeps you going? (in case you spend long hours on the 2600).  No comment.

    7) How many hours a day or at a time do you play the Atari? i'd spend about 4 to 6 hour on the system.

    8) How many days a week do you spend on it?everday

    9) Your top 3-5 games. WHY these choices? Raider of the Lost Ark: it was challenging. It had more than 1 activity to do. Donkey Kong: you got to fight with the gorilla. And plus i'd play this game on the arcade. Donkey Kong Jr. (Same with Donkey Kong)  Space Invaders: it had a lot of aliens to kill & had alot of shooitng to do. & you had the spaceship for bonus points. Pitfall: you were in the forest, swinging on vines & over rivrers & mud pits. Moon Patrol:  you were on the moon, shooting boulders & jumping over craters.

    10) Do you play any other systems besides the 2600?  I've played the Intellivision,Colecovision,Nintendo & playstation.

    11) How do you view gaming of today as compared to the 70's/80's? Oh it is much different. There is more killing & more games that you drive in. & the games are 3-D.

    12) Do you usually just play the 2600 alone or have someone play with you? (If so, is it a relative or friend?) Yes,i'd play with some1. It was mostly with a friend. But other times,it was with a family member.

    13) Finally, do you or have you ever tried to turn someone to the "Atari side"? yes

I just thought of these questions off the top of my head. If any of you could answer these questions it'd be great. I'm only 23 and I know some of you are older than me, so I've got to know why you still come back to this great system (everyone has their reasons, I just want to know yours). Thanks alot!

  7. Hey,how are you? I'd like to ask a question. I'm new to this website. I've been registered like a week. From the conversations, that i'm seeing on here,it looks like everybody is not just talking about the game, but are in much depth about the games & game systems. I want to know,if i'm doing the right thing,by replying to what i see on here & replying to the right person, about the topic,he/she is talking about. I know you are suppose to chat on here & talk about atari products.I used to have a 2600 when i was in my early teens. Let me know,if i'm doing this right.

  8. Hey,I have the atari flashback2. I also like Adventure. I like game setting #3. Isn't Rhindle the red or brown dragon??I think he is strung too high. Like he must've drank 40 cups of coffee,b4 appearing on the screen. I know it's a game.I know, that how fast,he is supose to run. But i'm saying, & thinking out loud. I bet if you could clock his speed,it bet it would be over 100 or 200 mph. lol :D He is a fast, little booger.

Another thing,i want to know is,on game setting #3,i'll have the black castle open. The Golden Chalice will be in there. Sometimes, the key to the Golden Castle will be there, too. But other times,it won't be. It won't be in the blue labyrinth, nor in the orange, invisible maze, going to the white castle. It won't be in the purple nor the orange corridors, opposite the white castle. It won't be,in the green corridor under the white castle. It won't even be in the white castle. What do you do,then? I'll go & research the whole game back up to the black castle it won't show up. Does this mean that bat has it & won't bring it out or what?

  9. Hey,I use to love going to the arcade & playing the games. My best game was Q*bert. I loved that game. You moved ay an angle, instead of moving straight down.I liked the arcade game better than the atari game. I also love Moon Patrol. It was a cool game.I loved shooting the other ships & boulders. It was alot of fun. You also got to jump over the gaps or ditches in the ground. The arcade game seemed to have more bounce/antigravity than the atari version.Super Pac-Man was ok. But when you ate a power pellet & he grew to 5 times bigger, you couldn't hardly move him.
