Show me your CD32 / PC-FX Collection!
jesusc replied to Clint Thompson's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Here's a pic of my PCFX collection. yeah, it's supposed to be blank. I've owned one twice, but after shelling the cash out for the system, zeriogar and zenki; i decided it just wasn't worth keeping it around. For the most part, every other game worth playing requirees japanese knowledge. (I've also owned four of the anime freaks, battle heat, all japan female wrestling, der langrisser, chip chan kick, deep blue fleet, angelique special, dragon knight, pia carrot, team innocent, Super Power League, and a couple others.) http://www.pcenginefx.com/ is a great site to see and learn about some things. -

ColecoVision Deflektor Kollection Now Available
jesusc replied to Albert's topic in Classic Console Discussion
well, figured I'd better post my impressions before the banning. The deathwatch is over! I tried both the roller controller and the driving wheel, and was surprised to find that what I initially thought would be the better control device, wasn't. I was sure the roller would be the better controller, but it was just to touchy. The wheel offered more precise control. Playing deflektor 2, I reached the third board before I lost a ball with the wheel, as opposed to losing ten balls just to get to the third board with the roller. I couldn't tell if what slight movement of the paddle before ball contact was actually putting english on the ball or not. Sometimes it seemed so, sometimes not. About the only complaint I'd have is that the scrolling background really screwed with my eyes after a while. Overall, happy with my purchase, and thusly will not have to take my own life for wasting $30 on Breakout. Query, how exactly are two people supposed to play Dacflektor? Noticed that the roller controller controlled each paddle depending on wether the ball was rotated vertically or horizontally, but don't see how two people could share the ball. The driving wheel only controlled one paddle. Would you have to have two wheels? -

Nintendo's Vitrual Boy...What does everyone think?
jesusc replied to vgcollector666's topic in Classic Console Discussion
worth the name maybe, but nobody would have been able to afford it. I 've owned a few of them over the years. I found it most comfortable to play it while laying down in bed with it resting against my face. Warioland was the big draw for me, though I enjoyed Galactic Pinball, Mario Clash, Vertical Force, and Jack Bro's as well. -
yeah, the neogeo is about as 24 bit as the jaguar is 64 bit. (stop it. I kid, I kid) But more importanly, where's the intellivision option?
-
As a kid, i had Atari 2600 and Intellivision, and played them to death. Until a few years ago, I had never even heard of Colecovision. I picked one up and am slowly building up a collection (i only buy classic stuff in the wild, not eBay.) I now have the system, two super controllers, the wheel, the roller controller, and 2600 module with about fifteen games. I enjoy the system a great deal, and hope to find more stuff.

congrats. this has been on my list to get for a while, but haven't yet.

the point wasn't the amount of buttons. it was the layout. four in a row, two rows of three in a row, etc. get the picture? hint, the buttons are laid out in a row, thus being more accessible and comfortable to use. I didn't attack the analogy for any other reason than it was a stupid analogy, and it needed to pointed out as such. I didn't attack a stick without any valid point "for such a long time". I refer you to post number 9 "weirdo three button layout." , I stated why I felt the way I did right there. perhaps if you took the time to actually read what I wrote, as opposed to getting all defensive about it, you'd realize that. Whatever. I've stated my point ad nausum, and am tired of repeating myself. How you keep missing it is a mystery to me. Yet I will continue to do so, lest I be accused of painting myself in a corner again. As far as the "intended market" goes, this is the Jaguar community. You know, the ones that happily shell out $70+ for the likes of Soccer Kid. (now that is in no way a dig at Carl Forhan. He provides a nice service for the community, and I hope can continue to do so.)

right here "If Halo's gameplay was as broken as the layout of your stick, I'd say you have a point." Well, as usual the troll talks himself into a corner and then uses a personal attack to try to prove how he is superior. *sigh* It is really annoying trying to talk any sort of reasons with the likes of you. 886579[/snapback] Where is this corner I talked myself into? You made a stupid analogy, and I presented a scenario where it could possibly be true. I didn't personally attack you. i didn't call you names. I attacked a stick that was made by you. i apologize if you can't understand the difference between the two. As far as Xmen and Nba Jam go, yes they were pretty uncomfortable as well. But the button positioning still is different than what is on your stick. We have arcades where I work as well: two MVS, four converted Street Fighter 2 cabinets, and NFL Blitz Gold. Guess what kind of layout they have.

I guess i'm just getting terms mixed up. The big joke used to be when a company would say "we shipped five million systems this christmas" then someone else would state "yeah, but only 500,000 sold through". As in five million were sent to stores, yet only 500,000 were actually bought by people. leaving you with an installed base of 500,000; and the stores with 4.5 million units collecting dust. anyhow, throughout all this all i know is that no one seems to know anything for sure.

that AvP to Tempest ratio must be regional. I've worked at a mom/pop store for five years now, and it's the other way around. We get in many more Tempest than AvPs traded in. Then again, you have guys like jaysmith2000 who apparently have six copies of the game. Should start a poll. How many copies of AvP do you own? To my knowledge installed base is your sell through. how could you have more active players than units sold through?

It doesn't matter what I think? Now that is a bold, stupid statment. A picture is worth a thousand words. Here are just a few. I put my hand up to the expanded pic of the stick, and to play it "like an arcade", you'd have to curl a finger underneath the rest of your fingers to hit the lower button. Hardly what I'd call an ergonomic let alone enjoyable experience. Inferring from what you stated this configuration was used to help cut down the size of the stick, which was done for cost concerns. that's fine, you did what you had to do. But can you honestly say that in a perfect world you'd want to have to use this contorted mess as opposed to the standard three-in-a-row configuration found in damn near every arcade cabinet layout? If Halo's gameplay was as broken as the layout of your stick, I'd say you have a point.

well, here are a few points I'd consider valid for bashing the cube. 1. lack of decent RPGs 2. lack of decent FPS 3. lack of decent racing games 4. lack of decent platformers 5. lack of any realistic non EA sports games 6. lack of online play that's just off of the top of my head, and it's not to say there aren't any of the above genres, just not as much choice as the other two systems.
-
Been to the jaguar forum recently? The cube isn't my favorite system, in fact it's not in the top two of the current systems for me personally. (you know, for the record) I'm all for bashing the hell out of systems, but I try to have a...what are those called...ah yes, a valid point. Certainly someone of you vast achievments could dig one up as well.

don't know the specific one you're looking for, but King's Knight was pretty craptacular.
-
it's not a jab at you. In fact it shows that you are one of the few enlightened ones around here. The sooner everyone admits I'm right, the sooner the world becomes a saner place. As for Radio F, first you make a stupid comment about the cubes library, then you defend it with an even stupider comment. your posts read like they could be someone's joke account.
-
I'd love to know where you live, as apparently there are tons of games released there that I haven't seen in upstate NY. The cube library is anything but RPG heavy. At my count, there might be fifteen or so. Maybe half of them are actually worth playing. With a library of over 400 titles, that really isn't that much.

thanks for the nice quote Many people blasted the heck out of the XG racers. I personally love them, but I'm easily swayed to anything with futuristic bikes (going all the way back to Tron's lightcycles). Batman Dark tomorow is so bad, that it should become a new adjective for describing something too horrible for words. "hey dan, how was that rectal exam?" "well george, it was bad..." "hmm, that bad, huh?" "Batman Dark Tomorow bad." "geez, that's BAD!" The only thing I find annoying with Donkey Konga is that they don't use the original songs. I hate covers, and I hate covers sung by bad karaoke singers even worse.

where could I find the annual report? i had a blast reading through the press releases.

plays them all with a few exceptions (such as kirby tilt and tumble, warioware twisted, couple of others).

Twin Snakes is a remake of the first metal gear solid, not the second. As far as puzzlers, Puyo Pop fever is good if you havn't played a million other Puyo's. there are also a couple of Bust a Move games, and they are always good stuff. Haven't played them myself, but have heard zoocube and eggmania were "ok". What ever happened to the nintendo puzzle collection? I thought it was supposed to be released over here, but haven't heard a thing about it since i don't know when.

I see an 18-34 year old playing Halo, it's no big deal. I see an 18-34 year old playing Disney Hide and Sneak, I worry. Love 'em or hate 'em, Nintendo has a vault full of cash, and much like uncle scrooge Satoru Iwata swims through the money every morning. People love to bash them for being too kiddy, but as long as they are making money by releasing Mario Party 18 and Luigi Pets a Cat, they will continue to be that kid orientated. Perhaps Miyamoto has no interest in creating Anal Raping Demon Horde and that's fine. As long as they aren't stopping any other company from doing so, what's the problem.
