well, at least the music is good.
-
I'd definetly be interested in one of these.

um, just to set the record straight, I was totally bullshitting about Highlander. That game blows...hard.
So yes, the Jaguar has, in my modest opinion, exactly one great game.
I too would like to see the name calling end. I'd been told this forum was more mature than that. I see that I was told wrong.
In order to dissuade those that think I'm here solely to troll (which I have never done), I will limit my expression to only extolling the good points of the jaguar library, ignoring all other faults.
Therefore, expect to see a lot of "well, the game has good music" posts.

go play your Nintendo gamecube and leave us TRUE gamers to our classics... Prick.thanks for making my point for me.

model 1's use the same kind of generic RF that Nes, SMS, 3dO, Jaguar, and SNES use.
It's the models 2 and 3 that use odd birds.
-
Just irks me when people say, system "x" isnt worth firing up.
They all are worth it, if only to play a handful of games.
I don't believe this news, and have a 32X, CDi, and Jaguar to prove it.

It sounds very interesting to me. I'd most definitely buy buy both modules.
I've certainly paid more for other consoles that I have no interest in.

hi,Why did you create a topic? to tell everyone you dont like atari karts?
no offense. but this topic is useless.. You cannot discuss a game that is bad in youre opinion. I Like atari karts. So what do you expect now? Talk about a game that has been talked a dozens of time.? No thank you.
Hey, the guy was disappointed in a jag game. Where's gunstar and the other fanboys to accuse him of not being a true gamer.
Also, why does the age of the games always come up as a defensive argument?
As if ten years ago standards were different as to what makes a good game. Mario Kart for Snes is older than Atari Karts and blows it away.

i just downloaded them with no problem.

I'd say they are both were getting, but it really depends on if their respective libraries contain games you watn to play.
They both eat batteries like they are going out of style, with the game gear (i believe) being the more voracious of the two. However, Lynx has an accessory that you fill with C (or maybe D, can't remember exactly) batteries, and that lasts a long time. Game Gear has many different kinds of rechargeable battery packs available.
Lynx highlights (IMO-sad that I have to state that, but this seems to be the case on this board)) include Roadblasters, Ninja Gaiden 1 & 3, Xybots, Gate of Zendocon, Zarlor Mercenary, Rampage, Blue Lightning, Checkered Flag, Dracula, and the only arcade faithful version of Rygar.
As previously stated, the Game Gear is pretty much a portable SMS with more colors. Very nice tech that easily blows most game boy color graphics away.
The only thing I didn't like about Game Gear was the fact that when the action buttons are pushed, the screen is slightly affected, getting brighter or lines in certain areas.
I'd say you made the right decision of not posting this on the lynx section.

I've owned a couple of these over the years.
Overall, I'd say pass on it, unless you want to have an obscure machine to show off.
For being "32 Bit", the games are mostly 16 bit quality in terms of graphics and sound. I found the controllers, while looking cool (to me anyway) were very uncomfortable and not especially responsive. Some of my favs were simon the sorcerer and just about all the team 17 developed games. Never played jetstrike though. Hmmm....
-
Never. It's just not professional.

I regularly play colecovision, sega master system, and Turbo Duo; so yeah, I'm all about modern gaming and hating on graphics from like ten years ago.
I will give credit where credit is due. I will also call bullcrap when needed.
The original poster posed the question is the jag cd worth it. I stated my opinion, which differs from a lot of you, so that makes me a troll. whatever.
-
how old would you have had to been?
I was there, I saw it. What was there to blow one away? The eight colors on screen? the boring levels layout that looked the same no matter where you were on a planet? The annoying bald headed chick?
Stop it.
-
check this out for the lowdown on that and many more hijinks.
Now to get the thread back on track, yeah, the jag cd is a real waste of money.

Saturn is THE system to own for shooters.
Tons of newer games, as well as all of the collections of older arcade greats like 194- and the Thunderforce games. Many, many hours of fun to be had.
-
wonder where you're getting those ?
there are so many different titles that could be listed. It's much easier to follow companies. As a general rule of thumb, anything by Konami, Renovation, Taito, Capcom, and obviously Sega themselves is a pretty safe bet. There are far more gaiares and el vientos than there are earnest evans.
Just don't buy Heavy Nova.
-
You should try playing it after dropping acid. It did wonders for a certain editor's point of view.
-
I was at home playing Highlander, and wondering how anything with glorius software like this could fail to take over the marketplace. Those goshdarn plebians never realize true brilliance until it's to late.
-
Sorry if the truth from my point of view pricks at your fanboy sensitivity.
In all honesty, Highlander would have been number eleven, but he asked only for ten.
-
There were two, super nova and darius twin.
Genesis had sagaia.
Only reason i didn't like Darius 2 on saturn was the zooming screen they came up with to try to translate the arcade originals three screen set-up.
Darius Gaiden on Saturn and G-Darius on PSx kick much butt though.
-
i've never taken one aprt to verify, but I have heard multiple times that it was do to the extra rf shielding NEC had to add in order to make it FCC compliant.
-
Thought I'd chime in with my top ten games worth playing on a jag.
1. Tempest 2000
2. Tempest 2000
3. Tempest 2000
4. Tempest 2000
5. Tempest 2000
6. Tempest 2000
7. Tempest 2000
8. Tempest 2000
9. Tempest 2000
10.Tempest 2000

nope, that's no good. You wouldn't be able to play Highlander, greatest game of all time.

Just got a jaguar very impressed
in Atari Jaguar

commercially in the US they (saturn and dreamcast) were failures, but in Japan not so much. Especially when you figure in all the shooters released for them (which SSX has mentioned as being his favorite genre).
Believe it or not, I'm sorry to hear that you are so disappointed with the system. Yes, 98% of the games are pretty unfun; but at least, you know, the music is good.
