  1. yup, over two years later, and the game is still crap.
  2. After a sorta frustrating day (if anyone finds a wallet, it's mine), I decided to do something I haven't done in about two years. Use my extiva for something other than watching movies! I popped Tempest 3000 in, and reminded myself why I like Tempest 2000 better. then my son and I kicked out Merlin racing (I really should pick up some logitech controls, I have two HPI warriors) for a little while. Very fun game. Now as I go to bed, I have found stoner heaven (though I'm drug free). That would be Radiohead+VLM. Tomorrow I'll probably tackle Freefall again. Never had the attention span for learning the controls before, but I'm older now so who knows? (eyes Iron Soldier 3). Anyone else (other than K3V) still messing around with the Nuon?
  3. back to the topic, Earthbound was great for a few reasons. 1) Didn't use cliched setting. It was modern day, not medieval or futuristic 2) very humorous 3) DIDN"T INCLUDE RANDOM ENCOUNTERS!!! this was a great feature not seen too much back when it was released, and still not seen enough in todays RPGs 4) the way you encountered enemies had an effect on the battle. If you caught them from behind, you got first strike, the same when for the enemies. 5)if you encountered something you vastly overpowered, it just disappeared, no stupid battle. Again, something modern RPGs could use more of 6) you could choose the name of you favorite food and thing. I, of course used some vulgarities to my own amusement. Nothing like your mother telling you to go eat some p***y and get some rest. 7) Not a heck of a lot of backtracking. just like real life, the father isn't in the picture, and only the only interaction with him is by phone. Yes, the graphics for the most part probably could have been done on a NES, but this was a great game damnit. Give it some respect.
  4. prepare to have your hopes dashed if the first game you get isn't Tempest 2000. Not great, but ok games include Defender 2000, Rayman, Iron soldier, Power Drive Rally, Raiden, and Doom. Everything else will make you cry.
  5. I recommend selling it back to the guy you bought it from. You caught him in a moment of weakness. As stated previously, Pirates Legend of Black Cat is grrrrreat. Pick up both Otogi's. Gunvalkyrie (though, you may not like it, once the weird controls are picked up, the game is gravy.) Panzer Dragoon Orta. Burnout 3. It's the racing game for even people who don't like reacing games. Kingdom Under Fire. great mix of strategy and action Metal Slug 3. c'mon. Fable. Didn't deliver on half of what was promised, but still fun. Grabbed by the Ghoulies. just to see how far the once mighty have fallen.
  6. sell it off, then buy it all back again, sell it off, buy it all back again. The fun is in the hunt, not the owning. To me anyway.
  7. okay, I didn't intend to insult you, how about $251?
  8. so...would ya take $250 for your collection?
  9. you're right, that was someone else, with a name very close to yours. However, I disagree about Sonic. The depth is there if you want to look for it, but the game design doesn't force you to look for it. I'd also disagree about those aspects of the game being wasted space, but to each their own i suppose.
  10. Psycho Fox was a great game. Unfortunately it came out too late in the SMS lifespan to make a difference. i used to spend hours sending that little bird all over the screen trying to find hidden warps.
  11. I don't believe this news. CDi yeah, i agree with that, 32X would be a very close tie, 3DO owns jaguar. read this as flame bait if need be, but I'd be willing to make a comparison chart proving what I say.
  12. I'm pretty sure Sony bought Psygnosis, not EA.
  13. Have you played any Sonic game for more than five minutes? From this statement, I don't think you have. Sure, you can zip right through a level, but if you do, you are not a true gamer. Each level has tons of hidden areas and secrets that one would really have to explore to find. there is a lot of depth to these games.
  14. you can add Klonoa, Valkyrie Profile, and Rhapsody to your PS1 list. The Tales games are also climbing. Something that has always worked for me is to buy RPGs as they get clearanced or hit the $20 mark. Suikoden, Ogre Battle, Tactics Ogre, and Legend of Mana might not be getting double yet, but they are getting at least original retail if not more. not bad when you only spend $20 a pop.
  15. Wasn't Robinson's Requim announced for the CD. Does anyone know if that got anywhere? Kinda liked the 3DO version.
  16. So because I'm not all hot and horney for the Jag, I'm anti atari? Yep. That's why I own a 2600, 5200, 7800, and Lynx. Cause I HATE Atari. Doesn't this forum have an ignore function? If I bother you so much, use it.
  17. I'm the second worst person here, and even I'm getting tired of this stuff. Let's move on.... Too turn this around a bit, I hold onto a jag for the aforementioned Tempest, but also for the homebrew scene. Though I've felt burned shelling out $60-70 for crap like Hyperforce and Towers 2, things like Native (when it seemed like it actually might be released) and Eerievale are enough to keep me interested. and i just wanted to get in before this was locked too.
  18. I've never gotten cramped or anything from a jag controller, it's ok. My only wish would be for a little heavier plastic. I've never had a jag controller go bad on me, but it "feels" chinsy. You can twist them very easily, which most people would probably never do, but after doing really well at Tempest, and then making a dumb mistake and dying...well, the anger has to be taken out on something.
  19. commercially in the US they (saturn and dreamcast) were failures, but in Japan not so much. Especially when you figure in all the shooters released for them (which SSX has mentioned as being his favorite genre). Believe it or not, I'm sorry to hear that you are so disappointed with the system. Yes, 98% of the games are pretty unfun; but at least, you know, the music is good.
  20. well, at least the music is good.
  21. I'd definetly be interested in one of these.
  22. um, just to set the record straight, I was totally bullshitting about Highlander. That game blows...hard. So yes, the Jaguar has, in my modest opinion, exactly one great game. I too would like to see the name calling end. I'd been told this forum was more mature than that. I see that I was told wrong. In order to dissuade those that think I'm here solely to troll (which I have never done), I will limit my expression to only extolling the good points of the jaguar library, ignoring all other faults. Therefore, expect to see a lot of "well, the game has good music" posts.
