  1. Cool! Thanks for info re: the Jr's cart slot! That's the info I was looking for. My broken Jr. is at my parent's so I couldn't examine it. I'll go ahead and order the cart and guide I need! Rory
  2. Picked up my FB2 at EB games today -- and it's a Rev. B! I breathed a hearty sigh of relief when I heard the Quadrun voice! I'll let you know when I get down and dirty with the mod! Rory
  3. Here are my finds o' the weekend: Nether World Colletibles (a buck a piece) ----------------------------------------------- Loose 2600: Adventure Dig Dug Maze Craze (pic) Solaris (red w/b& w) Sky Jinks Spider Fighter Lock 'n' Chase Frogs and Flies Armor Ambush International Soccer Super Challenge Football Loose 7800: Pole Position II Movies and Music (two bucks a piece) ------------------------------------------- Keystone Kapers (2600) Asteroids (7800) Nintendo World ----------------- Gorf Frostbite Ms. Pac-Man Demons to Diamonds Street Racer Tac-Scan Plaque Attack Atlantis Carnival Space Jockey These carts were all marked 4.99 each -- I managed to get him down to 3.99 but it was still a bit of a rip-off. However, I needed these for my collection and it would cost as much with shipping to get them to my island home on eBay so...I went for it! Had some extra cash and Atari games are REALLY hard to come by here these days. This was the best weekend I've had thrifting for Atari carts in YEARS! A cartridge case for 4.99 as well! Holds 10 carts and slot for manuals. I already have three of these so finding a fourth was awesome! Rory
  4. Hi again all! Not sure if I should have posted this in a new thread -- my apologies if I should have! Picking up a Flashback 2 this weekend and I had a question regarding the necessary parts (Cartridge connecter, Guide and cable). Can I rescue them from my old broken 2600 jr.??? Any help/input is appreciated! thanks, Rory

    ....

    so...they're all gone? Rory
  6. Ok another question then: Curts instructions are the one I'll follow since I'll (hopefully) be modding a Rev. B not a Rev. A. My question is: is there a cart mod manual/page that covers the case mod part of it?? Rory
  7. Ah I see! Thanks for the comments everyone! I'm of two minds about it. Like I said, I wasn't really looking for an Atari computer so I doubt I would go through the trouble of purchasing one online when I can feed my addiction to my older consoles! Just saw the ad and was curious as to whether or not I should go for it! I probably won't -- unless I can beat him down to $5....and that's doubtful! Thanks to all! Rory
  8. Hello all! Just read an ad in my local paper -- here's the description of the item: "Atari 600XL antique computer, incl 3 games & cass drive, rare collector item, $50." I love my 2600 but I don't know a lot about Atari computers, although I am interested. Any comments? Worth picking up? How about the price? Any thoughts are welcomed! Rory
  9. Wow! I didn't realize that -- and here I thought I had discovered some crazy glitch!!! Rory
  10. My original collection... Saved all my recess money in grade 6 to buy my woodgrain 2600 -- the box said it came with Combat..........but it didn't. However, my parents bought me Berzerk as a reward for my plunking down the $80 for the system myself. So...no Combat but... 1) Berzerk 2) Crystal Castles 3) E.T. 4) Pac-Man 5) Crackpots 6) Skiing 7) Pressure Cooker Megamania 9) Freeway 10) Star Raiders 11) Starmaster 12) Adventures of Tron 13) Space Invaders 14) Missile Command 15) Defender 16) Cosmic Ark 17) Demon Attack That's all I can remember for now!! I had more games back in the day than I thought!
  11. Man I wanted so many!! Smurf = I was a HUGE Smurf fan back in the day and I REALLY wanted this game. When I'd visit my grandparents I could borrow it from a friend but I never had it myself. Finally picked it up on a newsgroup in the late 90's. He-Man = REALLY wanted this one too. I've never even seen a copy. Frostbite = What an awesome game! I loved the sound you made when you'd hop from ice-pan to ice-pan. Just recently picked this one up and I'm dying to re-create an old experiment when I get my 2600 from my parents. Maybe one of you guys can beat me to it : I remember playing Frostbite on my 2600 at home with a Sega Genesis controller. When I'd hit one of the buttons the ice blocks on my igloo would disappear one by one. Burgertime = I played it in an arcade while on vacation and fell in love with it. Saw the glossy ads in the back of comic books and wanted it but never got it. Dodged that bullet!! Mario Bros. = I actually played Super Mario Bros on the NES at a friend's house first and then later heard about the 2600 regular Mario Bros. I totally wanted it. Man, would I have been disappointed! Don't get me wrong Mario Bros. is great, but not when you're expecting SUPER Mario Bros. Xonox Sir Lancelot / Robin Hood = Neighbour had it. I wanted it. Just recently I had a friend unload a ton of his games on me -- it was in the batch! That's all I can remember for now! Rory

    2600 mod's

Well, if you come up with a use for the housing (or not), I wouldn't mind adding the circuit board to my "parts" stash. 1017878[/snapback] Cool! I'll be sure to let you know!

    2600 mod's

Hmm -- Sorry I should have been more specific! Maybe a mod isn't what I'm looking for. I was hoping that maybe someone could suggest a new use for the casing. Maybe installing something else inside it a la the NES PC mod I saw online awhile ago. Although I wouldn't be opposed to attempting a repair either!! I listed the problems above -- any suggestions on what may be wrong with it??

    2600 mod's

Hmm...it's been awhile since I tried to power it up. From what I recall it is receiving power -- the led lights up (am I remembering correctly? There is an led in the Jr., right??) but nothing but blank screen. It's turning black so I know some signal is coming through, but no game picture on any cartridge. Can't be the carts -- they work fine on my other Jr. and woodgrain! Rory

    2600 mod's

Hey all -- Just wondering if anyone knew of any mods I could perform on a broken 2600 Jr. It seems a shame to just throw it out -- any ideas??
  16. Yes I was looking over Curts -- I think between that one and netmoe's "Moe Production Atari Flashback 2.0 Cartridge Port Modification" I'll be able to pull it off! Curts gives awesome instructions on the internal modifications and netmoe's breaks down the case mod really nicely. I'll be sure to let everyone know how it turns out -- if I ever manage to find a FB2, that is! Rory
  17. Cool! Thanks guys! Good to know! How hard is the Cartridge mod? I'm not much of a technician and I'm wondering if it will be more trouble than it's worth for me!
  18. All my old-schools systems are living at my parents until I find a more permanent living space. There I have an Atari 2600 Jr., Sega Master System, Tandy Color Computer 3, Sega Saturn, Colecovision and a Telstar Pong Dedicated hooked up to a 27" Sears from the early 90's. The Saturn is connected via RCA plugs into my VCR. Everything else is connected coax to a switchbox that i bought at Value Village for $7. This switchbox is OLD school -- from the 70's (came in original box with manual). Has settings/switches for TV, Cable, VCR, Pay-TV (?), Disc (I'd imagine Laserdisc) and Game. I have a system hooked up to each input (except for Cable -- that's my actual television feed!), which leads to a bunch of RF switches hanging off the back of it!! Now that I've picked up some comp to coax adapters, I'll have less clutter (Thank you, AtariAge!). The neat thing is the Game input is a modulated composite input -- my Atari runs right into it! It's old and weird but it does a great job -- picture is crystal! Rory
  19. Hmmm.....I've been collecting Atari games since I got mine in the mid-80's (I think...can't remember the exact year...) -- so collecting alone brought me to AtariAge and to check out the forums. However the Flashback 2 Hack is what brought me to join and post! Rory
  20. Hello all! New to the forums but a long-time fan of AtariAge -- excellent site, BTW. I bought a FB1 awhile ago and was happy with it. Stayed away from the FB2 -- didn't think I could validate the purchase but with a FB1 and two working original 2600's (1 woodgrain, 1 Jr.) but when I read about the cartridge hacks I was intrigued. Been doing a bit of reading here in the forums and my understanding is that there are two Rev's available -- A and B. B provides speech in Quadrun, correct? Well, my question is, if I want to pick up a FB2, is there anyway of knowing which Rev I'm getting prior to opening it up and hooking it up? Those pesky salespeople get perturbed when you return an opened product over and over again -- there's only so many times I can say it doesn't work!! Any thoughts? And sorry if this has been covered in another thread -- I did a couple searches and couldn't find anything on it so I figured I'd post!! Thanks a bunch! Rory
