I don't see how it's a matter of opinion. VGC's opinions have nothing do with the fact that for me this game does not work with the stock controller. You can take issue wish with whatever else he has to say, but it's an unequivocal fact that for some of us this game behaves exactly as VGC describes with a stock controller. Yes, I understand that some of you do not suffer this problem. Lucky you. But that doesn't alter the reality of what others are experiencing.I guess I can't speak for VGC's 5200 setup, but as for myself, as I've already mentioned, I've done everything I can think of in an attempt to make the controllers function properly when playing this game. The pots in all three of my consoles are dialed into the factory specifications as indicated in the service manual. I've tried all six of my rebuilt controllers and all of them perform just as VGC describes with this game, yet they function perfectly well with every other game I have. Clearly, there must be some other factor in operation here.
I've used this game with a Wico, the standard controllers, the 7800 Redemption as well.....I can honestly say the control sucks. Just sucks. And its a shame, because its one of my favorite 80's arcade games. Its actually a ton better on the 2600, though it looks like crap. I got so frustrated with it, that I ended up selling it, and for a loss no less.
Now Berzerk on the 5200 is just incredible.....and damn tough.
i don't know what's wrong with your game/controller but the 2600 version vs 5200? omg....it's not even close.

Footbag and halfpipe are all right, but I just couldn't get into the rollerskating and flying disk events. Maybe it's me, but I found them completely unplayable on the Lynx.my high score on rollerskating is 22,340. the technique is to get a lot of speed so you can get some hang time on the 720 jumps on the rollers skates.....

I just received this Jaguar cartridge from an ebay seller that I bought for £12.50/$25. It was supposed to be new and sealed but it's arrived opened and with dust in the grooves at the front of the cartridge and dust in the ATARI wording at the back.Should I complain to eBay or Pay Pal or just put it down to bad experience?
frickn rip off....false advertising. all my games and systems are boxed and in great shape.
-
ok...much better. 73,230. pic coming later. 3rd stage is fast already.
-
37,080 man....rusty. i beat this game easily back in the the day but i guess i aint got the reflexes anymore.

7800 Centipede with trakball support is a great version of the game. Fun as hell. However, the 5200 version is still superior. Its more like the arcade game. That said though, why does it matter? Play both of them!
amen....do play all of them.
-
Trackball 7800 Centipede freakin' rules!!better than 5200no...i don't think so.
Then you think wrong cause 7800 Centepede with the TB is wicked and much better than the 5200 version.
much better? the game itself is great on both systems....i especially like the two player options on the 7800. but the 5200 is more realistic to the arcade. gameplay, graphics (7800 looks fatter), and sound (5200 is virtually identical to the arcade) easily makes the 5200 better in those categories...not to mention overall feel of the game.
i own both systems and games but i don't own the trackball on the 7800. the 5200 centipede trackball is flawless and granted that if the 7800 was as perfect in trackall play, the games itself easily sways to the 5200 if you want more arcade qualities.
both are still great ports.
If you don't own the 7800 version with trackball support or even a trackball then why even comment on the game seeing as you've never even played it?
i own the trackball for the 5200. and it's great and just like a trackball in the arcade would play. assuming the 7800 has the same arcade control, the comparison would be on a game level. i don't see why it would be a problem to compare centipede versions since i own both systems and games (minus the trackball 7800).

That generation of arcade games (Centipede, Millipede, Missile Command, and Warlords) all used the PCS inspired hardware (6502 and POKEY). Joe Decuir had told me that when they initially went to design the PCS series the plan was to also use the hardware for coin-ops. That was later partially scraped because of limitations of using a television format (ANTIC/GTIA) vs. an arcade monitor format (resolution, etc.)great info....

....I wouldn't say that it was better than the 7800 version, but it ranks up there as one of the better conversions of the game...i would. the gameplay alone with the joysticks makes this game an instant hit. when u think back when this 1st came out, it's innovation to have added both the sticks and really set the future for analog sticks on the sony.

Any more news..?
The cart is finished, and I actually have one sample finished cart in my hands. I should post a picture.

My partner who builds the carts with me has been extremely busy the past couple months, and hasn't finished the first run of carts yet. At this point, it looks like Christmas is a more realistic release date.
awesome! what are we looking at in estimated price?

...You know what really bothers me? I could have wrote a ton of shit games and sold themknowing some of the fans here aer just plain willing to buy anything sight unseen. ....
yeah a few people would have bought your "shit games" but give more credit to the jag fans...they're not as dumb as you may think. people would know that your games suck, reviews would be bad, and there's no way you'd avoid a 3rd degree in forums like this. you try releasing a terd of games like trevor and see how many you can sell. i bet you won't get far...
-
I disagree. Galaxian makes excellent use of the analog controller.Having played the game myself, I can confirm that the control in Galaxian IS bad.and 1.
-
iron soldier 2 is pretty good for the price.

keep up the great work. hope one day i'll get a paid version of gorf....maybe then they'll be 5 people in the world playing a jag.......Maybe the that is the perception of me on this forum but it is certianly not elsewhere....
yes...maybe it is that perception.

And if you dont want to be lumped in, dont defend the indefensible.
heed your own words....

I recommend you check out the Atari Lynx scene: great console, great games, and none of the spiked Kool-Aid nonsense of the Jaguar world.I'll pull the Jag out in another 5-10 years and see what happened.that scene would be too calm for gorf...although im sure he can cause havoc in the lynx forums if he wanted to.... ;-p

u don't care if nobody on here buys your game? i don't believe that....I dont trust you so it all the better you do'nt get my games. You argue on the
side of thieves and pruiates and therfore I put you in there catagorey as well and unfortunately a lot of you clowns
around here....I could not give a good damn who does or doesn't like it. Certainly not in a homebrew community where it
seems half the people are thieves anyway....
calling me a thief? i debate with you and you put me in that category (thieves)? great job gorf...another prime example of the world according to gorf. you don't know who i am nor have i talked about copying or pirating games. To call me a thief is complete b.s. and low class. not to mention your claim that "it seems half the people" on here are thieves.
you're just a frustrated jag developer that has nothing to sell because of your own hanging.
Perhaps you should choose YOUR words better and you might give me reason to think otherwise.
However, as long as you seem to argue in favor of me working essentially for free to appease
those who need a job or calling me all sorts of names because I dare protect what is mine you can
expect I have little reason to trust you.
perhaps you need to earn respect among your future customers or lack thereof.
a thief steals stuff like your unreleased games or pirates stuff without consent. i've got more than a handful of homebrews which have been paid through an honest living. get your terms straight.
protect what is yours. that's your right. good for you.
when it's all said and done, you've caused more negative impact to this community than positive. its a shame, someone with talent, is ruled by his emotions and actually has harmed his own future sales with an arrogant attitude. i'm not the only one that has been turned off from the jag on here.
keep up the great work. hope one day i'll get a paid version of gorf....maybe then they'll be 5 people in the world playing a jag....

Oh, good point...how did I leave out Robotron? Just 5 is tough!Bounty Bob Strikes BackJr. Pac-Man
Robotron
Wizard Of Wor
Missile Command(Track-ball Controller)
I would never have put Robotron 2084 on that list. Neh-vah. It's choppier than a cracked out Bobby Flay attacking a plate of green onions with a chainsaw. Maybe it plays better with twin joysticks, but all the joysticks in the world aren't going to change the way the Doctor and the Grunts jerk awkwardly across the screen. It's much smarter to go with the Atari 7800 version of Robotron: 2084... it looks like the arcade game, and more importantly, it PLAYS like the arcade game.
no way, robotron for the 5200 beats the 7800 in so many ways.....
sound- 5200. has better sound. the crash on the 7800 sounds like 2600 sounds. the cool transitions sound great too...
gameplay-5200. both are good but the 5200 is faster and plays more like the arcade.
graphics-7800. graphics are more refined/smoother on the 7800 but the 5200 still looks good for that time.
controlls-5200. easily. working 5200 controllers on the 5200 makes this one of the best games ever on the 5200 as far as contollers are concerned. feels more like the arcade. dual action kills the 7800.
i have both versions including playing it on mame. 5200 hands down is a lot more fun to play. having the dual analog controllers, the 5200 was built to play robotron.

Several of our games are ready. We just want to get our moeny back from them.We sell games in a game package, not for download. It costs me money. I have
to reflect that cost on the customer when he buys these. I want to be sure I get
back what I put into, and quite frankly I have every right to do what I see fit to
protect. Mutlicarts may be your way of life, but they aren't ours. I dont own a
single such cart.
Right off the bat you made a mistake if you intended to run a sustainable business making games for the Jaguar. There aren't a lot of companies in this entire classic game scene pulling down enough cash to make somebody an honest living. I've got to imagine most are doing it on the side more for fun than anything else.
....Again, See Carl from Songbird. He sells games at almost twice what a normal cart costs. He claims it is to cover costs
yet everyone thinks he's a hero....
why you trying to cut songbird again? he's part of the reason why the jaguar community exists and how most of us jag and lynx owners appreciate new games. envy isn't a good thing gorf....it's quite apparent you have something against carl.
btw, alpine games cart is relatively the same price from the developer as it is from songbird....

sorry, i dont agree. different systems in different eras.
and for the sake of arguement, if the 5200 controllers were going to break down as often as the stock 5200 controllers did, it wouldn't have matter who made them (atari or nintendo). people would have complained.
