McDonald's double charged me and then refused to reimburse me. I had to go through the credit card to get my money back. Why would they want to lose my business over $7?

here is what should have happened: if the machine froze and they had to use another one more than likely it charged you twice (which it did) if you had proof that it charged you twice a refund should have been given out (Which it was not even though you had proof) At the very least a free meal should have been given to you or some sort of compensation, this is a very common thing that my stores owners want us to do because they feel like it is better to lose the 7-10 dollars then lose a value...
