  1. I can't say I'm pumped up about the PS3, but it does have MGS 4 and KILLZONE 2 on it, so that's reason enough for me to buy one. I'd rather pick me up an X360, but I'd only go that route if the following two games just mentioned were to somehow come out on the system, which they won't. I figure I'll buy up whatever games I want for the system and then wait like a year and a half, maybe even 2 before buying the actual console. The Nintendo Wii is has more appeal to me both price wise as well as innovation wise + Retro/Classic to boot.
  2. Front Line easily (for me). ...and I never had a problem with it's hit detection or anything either. Commando is okay but like with IKARI I'd rather play those on the 7800 anyhow.
  3. I have a Metal Gear Solid T-Shirt still in it's original bag, that came packed in with the limited edition silver pack for the JPN only release. Then I have a custom made/drawn recreation (airbrushed) of the Mega Drive insert cover to PULSEMAN. and some generic shirt I picked up from Hot Topic back in 2001 or 2002 (don't remember which) that simply has the NES controller on it and the words... "Roots" under it.
  4. Here we are on TAITO LEGENDS 2 and still no L.S.A. Squad (Storming Party) or Ninja Warriors! I honestly don't know what Taito is smoking to leave off two of their coolest games off these compiler discs.
  5. Always enjoyed REV LIMIT but RidgeRacer 64 is my all time fave. It's not "Rage Racer" but few racing titles are.
  6. Yes, for several months. ...in fact, I still do this more or less. Sometimes I don't power up ANY system for 4 to 8 months then play like a mofo. The older I get the more responsibilities I have and no matter how much I love to game, the magic it (gaming) once held for me is just gone. I mainly collect games to have them for when the mood does strike to play... well, they're there.
  7. Well I spent $99.75 for a 7800 ProSystem w. 35 games (23 that were 7800 games) + all hookups and (2) Proline Joysticks [which I quickly replaced with 2 *new* CX-78s] and I'd have to say I think it's Money well spent! I guess it depends on how you look at these things. All I ever see is ppl ragging on the 7800, partly why I waited to long to get one, and I don't get the hate? It's a fun system that has the compatiblity with the 2600, can't ask for more than that. EXCEPT maybe seeing more homebrews and hacks for it versus all the attention being on the 2600VCS.
  8. Only thing Emulation is good for IMO is to either try games out before hunting down the PCB and other respective media that game in question is on. To take screen grabs of a game, since taking digital photos off a TV screen is a bitch... and for having as an on the go type deal in a portable system like the GP32X. OTHERWISE, I gots to have me The Real Deal.
  9. My personal top 10 ---------------------- River City Ransom SNATCHER Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (well it was as an "English" fan translation hack for MSX Emulators) Keio Yugekitai (Saturn) Gunstar Heroes VICE: Project Doom Jet Set Radio Panzer Dragoon Saga MUSHA ALESTE POLYBIUS *Well this last one isn't so much a hit, as it is a damn good "WTF" urban legend. But it's gained a cult status over the years.
  10. Bought me my first 7800 ProSystem + 35 games package deal last month. Had never owned one nor played one for much the same reasons as you stated. *However, I actually like (and prefer) the dark/filmy color hues you mentioned over the brighter hues the 2600 and even NES gave off. Then I'm the dude who likes the "grainy" image that .8mm film gives off for recording purposes, and thought the slight pixelization of VCD movies was neat. That said, I've had more fun with my 7800 than I have with any other system in recent history. Robotron 2084 can be a bitch at times (even with the CX-78 gamepad), but I'm now able to at least make it to Level 12 before it's game over. I actually prefer the 7800 version of Commando over the Famicom version as well. More emphasis was one taking out the enemy than resucing prisoners and/or looking for secret underground bases. I still think it also be a great game (Commando) to hack to port the 1986 Taito RGS game LSA SQUAD [storming Party] to the ProSystem for as well. GALAGA I liked better on the 7800 over the Famicom/NES version as well, even though the Bandai "port" is closer to the arcade version. When I look at and play the 7800 I can't help but think what might have been had Atari been able to get some serious 3rd party devs under it's wing, and the system really pushed to it's limits. I'm no fool, it's far from what the Famicom/NES ended up being, but it didn't really get a fair shake either. Now that I have one (a 7800) it's never leaving my collection I know that much.
  11. So far my fave compiler has been Taito Legends though I'd rather TAITO left off "Gladiator" and "Jungle Hunt" and have had LSA Squad and The Ninja Warriors on there instead. *Such a travesty that those two games didn't get picked @ all. I know many a gamer who wasted $10.00 on both. As for what kind of compiler I'd like to see. I'd like to see the following: SNK Action Pack Classics = Ikari Warriors 1-3, Time Soldiers, Guevara (Guerrilla War), P.O.W. Mechanized Attack, Nam-1975, Cyber Lip. Konami Super Compiler = Contra, Super Contra, Devastators, GI JOE, Green Beret (Rush 'N Attack) A-JAX, MX 5000, Gradius, Gradius II, Salamander. ...but I know the above will never happen. Usually the companies whore out the usual and never do anything as cool.
  12. I'm interested alright, but I would've it rather have been a PS2 game than a PSP game. I'm a big fan of Taito's Chase HQ, S.C.I., and Crime City arcade games, which to me Pursuit Force somehow seems to be a mix of along with that Western game mentioned. I'm sure it's great for PSP owners to have a great title on the portable... but it saddens me I won't be able to enjoy this one on my flat screen TV. Oh well. Hope you guys have fun with it, don't ever see me getting a PSP so I'm more than likely miss out always on this note.
  13. Are you a Power Seller by any chance? If not that's why. PSs more or less get away with murder. I've seen everything from bootleg DVDs of movies to multicarts and more on Ebay. ...but as long as they were the Dave Espositos of the community, they don't do shit. Then joe everyman puts up something and it's shot down within half an hour. I wouldn't be surprised if a power seller got away with pawning off human ass for the night either. But like someone else said... what's the alternative? Best way to get rid of "questionable" stuff one is tired off is to just sell on forums like here, DP NG.Com, Sega-Spetsnaz, and GOD only knows how many forums out there. Of course it usually takes longer and when you need the money is when someone doesn't have it.
  14. The 2600 version. ...okay seriously, there's nothing like the original Famicom/NES version. I mean yeah, I fell in love with the game on the VS. Arcade upright coupled with Duck Hunt @ a 7-11 I went to as a kid, but the Famicom/NES is the only version I can "get into". I didn't like the All Stars edition at all.
  15. Well the only time I play the DS is either in small bouts lying in the back of my pickup truck, or taking a shit... a shit that lasts either for 2 hours or so, or until I get blood loss in my foot and it goes to sleep. Beyond that I don't play (and never did) portables within any other capacity. I assume the controller for your home system goes there and you seem to manage OK with that. 1029056[/snapback] True but I don't have a strain on my eyes (or neck) looking down at a small screen either. If you're playing something like the LYNX, Turbo Express, or even the NOMAD it's also going to get much heavier not to mention cumbersome versus holding a mere gamepad.
  16. Funny/ironic thing is. Is that back then I had no idea that there were actual games on cassette tapes. Heck I didn't even learn about that until 2 weeks ago when I saw one of those Super Charger things to play tape based 2600 games! *Talk about feeling out of the loop!
  17. My fave is the 6-Switcher woodgrain, but I ended up playing on a 4 switcher a bit later on, and is the one I still have. I mistakenly thought I still had the one my father brought home in 1983 from a yard sale, when in fact I had the 2nd one we bought after he wanted to hone his skills at Atari Basketball, since I wouldn't get off of Chopper Command and Crystal Castles on the other one. The 2600 JR. is alright looking, but up until I recently (as of a few weeks ago) purchased a 7800 ProSystem, I always got the two confused as they look somewhat similar.
  18. Back then (in the early to mid 80s) I referred to them as Atari Cassettes strangely enough, but I guess it's the same thing as calling them tapes.
  19. Home Consoles easily. "Portables" no matter how cool or advanced are for kids on road trips and in planes, or us die-hard gamers while we're getting out a chunk on the toilet. ---You can only play a game in the palm of your hand for so long.
  20. Best OST ever done with Bare Knuckle II in 2nd place. *I can't help but want to track down Commie bastards and kill them while listening to this music.
  21. PENGO. Though I can play on the 7800 anytime I feel like, it be nice to have it on the go too. ...although it's by SEGA not Atari.
  22. Yep Store 3 was the shiznits alright. I remember having issues with the place when I worked there but after it got sucked up into the EB chain I suddenly wanted back the store I worked at for a year and 2 months. Back then we had a "waiting list" for ppl (I'm sure you remember), it was cool because we really did call ppl up when things they were looking for came in. Man those were some good times indeed.
