What Game Would U Like To See?
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to 2600khz's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah I've played Beats of Rage a few times, and being a fan of the KOF Vs. Fighting games it was indeed a cool experience. I wouldn't go so far as saying I thought it 10x better than say the execution of Bare Knuckle II as to me that is pretty much "THE" roving brawler of beat 'em up roving brawlers. Since evidentally even Capcom released a turd with Final Fight Streetwise, and everyone else is doing these half assed 3-D roving brawlers I wouldn't give a bucket of piss for... I see no reason why SEGA shouldn't give the fans a BK 4 in high res 2-D. Take all that was great about the 2nd one, make the music more memorable than the 1st, and do for the genre what really needs to be done. I do love "Beats of Rage" though, no doubt about it. -
best nes dragon warrior game?
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to 8th lutz's topic in Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) / Famicom
I only ever played #1 on Famicom/NES so my vote is a bit biased. Probably the first "true" RPG game I ever played though. -
N64 vs Game Cube (The Poll version) :)
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to Mr_8bit_16bit's topic in Modern Console Discussion
GC, by a lot. ...I love carts but this is one time I had to go with the disc based media system. N64 had more than a few great games on it Super Mario 64, Perfect Dark, Sin & Punishment, Golden Eye, Star Fox 64, Zelda OoT, Zelda MM but at the end of the day I've had more fun on the Game Cube than with the N64. -
The Game came in today... It's freakin' awesome!

Yep. To this day I haven't been able to play the game for more than 10 minutes if that. Not because I hate it, but because it's so danged hard to do everything that needs to be done.

Freedom Force Wild Gunman Gotcha! Hogan's Alley Duck Hunt Gumshoe ---*a bit odd on this one though it's a platformer game where you control the character with the zapper. That's all that comes to mind though.

Looking for a good Sega Genesis/Mega Drive site
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to Marc Oberhäuser's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hmm... Interesting. I run the website anchor (a forever work-in-progress) for the "cult" forums community that is: click picture or sig: So far it's a bunch of really good members and we're growing little by little. Ghouls 'N Ghosts runs the forums, (I run the site). It's far from complete, but like I said it's a constant "Work-In-Progress" and will remain so forever. My direction isn't just on the MegaDrive but to eventually cover ALL things SEGA. *Also the site is the only place that I'm aware of that hosts Mega Play Magazine page for page, advert for advert. In time I will make the place a data haven for other non Sega publications as well. Basically the site is to compliment the slowly but surely growing forums, which existed before the website. Give us a look see, and if you want to... Join the formation. -
Strange NES hardware problem.
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to FujiSkunk's topic in Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) / Famicom
I've never heard of anything like that before. But I can say I remember when I first got my NES Advantage back in '88 I hooked up both controller 1 & controller 2 ports and turned on the system, (was playing Contra) and the game immediately started and when Bill Rizer falls onto the first platform in the jungle, I had no control. The charcter moved on it's own and fired on it's own. I had this happen to me several different times then just stopped happening. And this was with a then brand new "Advantage" controller. Though your situation sounds a lot worse. Oh and the "A" button thing seems to be somewhat common on those sticks as more than a few of my friends had their's stick all the time. Heck the one I have now still will do that. While I favored the controller over the NES Max, I'd say just stay away from the gamestick if it's going to mess up your system and be all cranky. Wish I could be of more help, but at least you know you're not the only one to have had "oddities" with that controller. -
#1> Well when you put it that way... I might be persuaded to change my opinion on E.T. But at the end of the day I hated the game, both back then and in 2006. #2> Not sure honestly.

Pacman easily. I still have nightmares about the 2600 port, which I as I understand it wouldn't have been that way had they (Atari) listened to the programmer about more memory than what they did on it. ET on the other hand was bad due to it being rushed in to ca$h in on the movie craze for that alien prune head. Either way...

Well my CX-78 Gamepads came in today and I'm kicking ass the way I should've on Robotron 2084 now. Still have a ways to go before I retain my old skills, but it's far more enjoyable than trying it with the ProLines, or even the Genesis pad which worked but didn't feel right on my thumb.

Nastiest thing I ever saw was a loose cartridge of Blaster Master for NES at a flea market that had the bottom half of the label torn off and I shit you not... what looked and smelled a bit like smeared SHIT on the far ends of the cartridge. Just glad I never picked it up with my hands, it was lying on the 2nd stack of games on the top where the guy had a bunch of loose SNES carts and a few Game Gears (some of which didn't look much better) kind of made me wonder what some ppl might use carts for?

From Fight Night 3, my CAB of me vs. pics of me.

That's pretty impressive there. It does actually look a bit like you. Not exact, but very close. At least compared to the two flash sources you gave. -
What Game Would U Like To See?
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to 2600khz's topic in Classic Console Discussion
None on your list. I would however like to see the following games come out one day... Fade Out ---(yes that 2600 homebrew) *That game ~or something like it~ needs to come out! Bare Knuckle 4 ---(Streets of Rage) *done in high resolution 2-D with Yuzo Koshiro returning to do the sountrack. Rolling Thunder 4 ---(or something like "Rolling Thunder: Geldra Rising") *done in high resolution 2-D with all of the previous characters + 2 new ones. NAM-1965: Innocence Lost ---(the prequel to Nam '75 on Neo:Geo) *would actually be set during the war with no walking death mobiles of mass destruction, but retain it's same style. -
Dude it's all about Taito Legends though sadly they forgot to add LSA Squad which should've been on there. Nothing like powering up Rastan Saga or blasting through Thunder Fox. Also the two "Operation" games (Wolf & Thunderbolt) play surprisingly well with the control pad. I play this quite a bit myself.

For how your described it I voted "No". Heck I haven't even downloaded a ROM since 2003 for an emulator for that matter now that I think about it. I prefer to actually have a tangible product that I can then slot into a cartridge port or power up as a disc in a game system or PC, though I don't PC game too often because I can't be bothered to have to configure a game... it it ain't ready to go I'm not interested in spending half an hour adjusting buttons, or uploading some new firm ware. Now if it's a flash game that can upload onto your browser and be played... that I do like to do. I spent half an hour with that "Cheesy Poofs" South Park game where Cartman had to eat the things being shot across the room. Also that Super Mafia Bros. game someone linked a day or so ago was interesting too. Beyond that not really, though getting a "teaser WIP" is nice when ppl have them up like that one of Pac-Pollux that was on a website link.

New NES system?
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to tantone56's topic in Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) / Famicom
What he said ^ ...but if you want to play Akumajo Densetsu FC [Castlevania III] to hear that extra sound and SFX or play the JPN version of Conta, forget about it. You'll still need to have a Famicom AV or Famicom to play and exprience that. Hell I doubt "Lagrange Point" would work for it either. However, it is a good clone indeed, but if they were going to make a system that supports both NES and Famicom you'd have thought they'd have made it were it would have been the first clone to support the above mentioned games intact. Don't let it stop you from buying one though. -
TOSHINDEN: ~In Retrospect, your thoughts please:
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to SHAGOHOD X99's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well ALL of the Toshinden games controlled like they were underwater, but I mostly always liked the series for it's atmosphere and character designs more than anything. True that LAST BRONX is a better game (on the Saturn side of things), but ppl can't deny that when the PSX was released Toshinden wooed many a ppl. Today the series (namely the first one or URA) gets a lot of hate, but the games did sell. Kind of like how most ppl you'll run into from back in the day claim they never liked Vanilla Ice, but the dude's first album [To The Extreme] sold 1,000,000 + copies. No in compairing the series to something like NAMCO's Soul Edge or Soul Calibur there's no comparison at all, that be like trying to compare Karate Champ to Garou: Mark of the Wolves... but the game had it's place and time and there are still fans of the series I'm sure. I think that with careful attention to details, make the game control right for once... well a Part Five could be done rather well. -
Sure it might not have aged as well as other games (and in some cases BA Toshinden 2 isn't so bad), but I personally always liked the series. I admit it has some sluggish controls but the atmosphere was "Cool". #2 is still my fave with Toshinden URA on Saturn after it, haven't played Toshinden Subaru (#4) yet but I hope to in the near future. To me it was what started the whole weapons based fighters in 3-D. Hell IVY from the Soul Calibur series is the successor to Sofia from Toshinden games except with a sword whip versus a whip. I remember cracking up back in '95 upon playing the first one where after you beat someone using Eiji he'd yell out something that sounded like: "Eat Chun-Li!" Hell I'd like to see a proper (better play mechanics) #5 in the series but I doubt TAKARA will do it. Even the artwork for the games was bad ass back in the day too: Anyhow, just curious if anyone here other than me likes this odd series?

#1> In all my 23 years (soon to be 24, though I'm 27) of gaming I never knew TECMO was an abbreviation and/or acroynm for anything. ***Please do tell, the "inner geek in me" must know! #2> WCPO = World Criminal Police Organization It's the agency the main character from the arcade game and Mega Drive sequels of NAMCO's Rolling Thunder series works for. Though I was always more partial to Leila versus Albatross from the original version.

Sega Megadrive programming
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to LewisBassett's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hmm... Interesting. Ghouls 'N Ghosts runs the forums, (I run the site). Perhaps you might give us a look see and maybe allow us to link to your Mega Drive Dev web community site, in exchange for you linking our SEGA formation from yours? I know the guys there would be thrilled to know about you all, I know I am. Shoot I'm sending off my money order to SFT (Super Fighter Team) in a few weeks for that new/old game Beggar Prince. I've had a few design docs from about four years ago that were for MD games but at the time I could find no one to program for that system. It may not be much of an alliance but SEGA fans need to stick together. Just an offer. -
Yessir it is. I was up till about 4 in the morning last night playing the 7800, something I haven't done with any system in years. Managed to get to "Wave 22" on Galaga, which strangely I like this port better than the arcade and the Famicom port. Then I played about an hour of Robotron 2084, then powered up some 2600 goodness with Crystal Castles getting much further into the game than I have in 20 years It's probably because I'm older now and am thinking things through and not making the careless mistakes I made as an easily distracted kid. *Thanks for the tip on the ProLine Joysticks, though I doubt I'll crack them open, me thinks I'll just wait for the CX-78 gamepads to come in, which then using the left button will feel right at home, it really has more to do with how one has to hold the ProLine that bothers me. A man could get some serious carpal tunnel trying to mash the side buttons!

your best 10 rpgs no one played topic
SHAGOHOD X99 replied to 8th lutz's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Some of the games I'd add: -------------------------------- Record of Lodoss War ---(PC-Engine SCD) Dragon Knight I - III ---(PC Engine) *though #3 did come out for PC in America retitled "Knights of Xentar" Lagrange Point ---(Famicom) -
Kid's got good taste is all. River Raid still OWNZ me to this day. Funny you should mention this game as I just got done playing it about two hours ago after getting better acquainted with Robotron 2084 on my recently arrived 7800 ProSystem. ...you know I never played much less saw "River Raid II" was it really much different or better looking?
