  1. Well my 7800 ProSystem with 35 games (23 which are 7800) came in today and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. Just got off the phone with Best Electronics and gonna' have me 2 CX-78 joypads by next week! ---The Proline joysticks are okay but a game of Battlefield of the Wolf: COMMANDO are an excersize in futility with it. I couldn't get used to my machine gun being on the left button with the way I have to hold the Proline Joystick. To me the grenade should've been on the left and "shoot" on the right button. I'm getting adjusted to Robotron but I'm sure once the CX-78 gets here it'll be easier. Guess I could hook up my MegaDrive gamepad since it's only one button to shoot too though. AS FOR MY ORIGINAL QUESTION... looks like Snoopy and most of my other 2600 are working just fine. Heck the picture clarity seems a bit better too, and I'm still using an RF/Cable hook up at that. Already I'm wondering what might have been had Atari launched the system in '84 rather than having it shelved. Hell I'm more excited with this than I am even about the PS3 and Revolution. *Now if only that game Fade Out would somehow get completed... GOOD TIMES!
  2. @ Pixelboy Well let's see here starting from what you commented on... #05> Well I actually did spend $500 smack a roos on the import N64 w. Super Mario 64 and Wave Race 6 months prior to it coming out in the US. I had played a friend's import version and had to have it right then and there. Probably the most impetuous buy I ever made. *I mostly was anticipating Robotech: Crystal Dreams but we all know how that crashed & burned. #09> You'd be surprised how many ppl won't take the time to look up what SNK stands for. It irks me to no end when I hear ppl call in "Sink". #11> I bow to your friend if he can actually beat TROJAN at all. That game has pissed me off for 19 years. I don't know anyone who can beat it without going into at least a profanity infested fit. #12> Well I'll always love Nintendo, but I can't say they don't piss me off with all this make a Gameboy, release another, and then another, and another etc. I want them to buckle down and get back to being a serious contender again. I didn't agree with Yamauchi's draconian business practices but the man at least kept the boat on course. #13> I'm a geek. All those names mean somthing to me too. #17> I remember in 1992 I bought a Turbo Grafx 16 w. CD-ROM add on just to buy Macross 2036 from a store in Houston called "Game Tronix". *Also where I made the trip to in the summer of '94 to get my Super Famicom. #20> 2-D will always be better than 3-D IMO. #24> I own three Upright Cabs and the parts + PCB for a fourth, but I think that'll do it. I had been collecting to open up a "Arcade Museum" type deal as a business venture but sold off most of the other stuff. #29> Personally I'm nuts when it comes to disc based media (be it games or whatever) I really can't see an excuse for scratches. I have friends that have the freggin' games lying on their data side on the rug and worse, and their dang jewel case is like right next to it! Most of the staff at EB Games and GameStop hate it when I come in because I'll go through 15 to 25 copies of used stuff before I find one I want (IF I buy). Sad thing is I have used PSX games that are basically "Brand New" and then they've got the gall to hand me a gutted *new* copy and say it's not used.
  3. Well if even half of the following apply to you, well... you just might be a game connoisseur as well as rabid xXxtreme Hardcore. 01> You can name every game system ever made from before the Atari 2600 till present (from both sides of the big pond) 02> You collect "import" games simply because you want the better artwork on the game boxes versus the usual shitty artwork on the domestic releases and can't actully read the onscreen text. 03> Own both versions of a game meaning "import" and domestic. 04> Have ever waited in line in the freezing cold, or just risk looking more dorky than one already is to be one of the first ppl to have a particular game system on launch day. 05> Have ever spent $500 + on an import game system that was going to be released @ $200 something 6 months down the road domestically, but you had to have it as soon as the Japs did. 06> Braved at least one RPG in full Japanese text, or bothered with a lengthy walkthrough because like #5 above, you just couldn't wait for the domestic release and wanted the experience pronto. 07> As a kid ever called the Nintendo Game Counselors for some help and ended up running up a bill talking about eveything BUT the original question you called for and got your ass beat for it. 08> Got so mad at a game (at one point or another) you roundhoused the TV or punched a hole in the wall of your parent's house... or at least kicked over the system and/or yanked the controller out of it's socket with the power still on. 09> You actually know what SNK stands for and that it's not pronounced "Sink". 10> Would pay the extra $24.00 to overnight/next-day-air your "import" games via UPS or FedEX back in the 16 and 32-Bit era glory days. 11> Can beat TROJAN on Famicom/NES without cussing or breaking somethng. 12> You hated Hiroshi Yamauchi for his business practices, but now feel melancholy with the direction Nintendo has gone since the old bastard left NCL. 13> The names Hiroshi Yamuchi, Minoru Arakawa, Howard Lincoln, David Rosen, Trip Hawkins Nolan Bushnell, and The Barone Family actually mean something to you. 14> You've ever spent more than $3,000 on a single credit card on just video games. 15> Broke down the actualities of VS. FIGHTING games super moves and explained how they are actually possible and/or what was being represented in-game. 16> Bought a SEGA CD simply because EGM reported that the Taito arcade game Ninja Warriors was coming stateside but then it didn't. 17> Ever bought a game system originally only for ONE game. 18> You still remember the jungle/maze sequence in the Famicom/NES version of Metal Gear. 19> You can 1cc ANY run & gun shooter (RGS) game. 20> You still defend the honor and greatness of 2-D versus 3-D 21> You still own old PCs (pre-Pentium stuff) to play classic games on them, braving the old MS-DOS taglines and reading/entering in passwords of a password bank designed in a way you couldn't xerox copy it from the instruction manual. 22> The words "Who wanta' some Wang?" actually makes you bust out laughing when all else are like 23> You actually spent hours trying to unlock the character Sheng Long in the Super Famicom/SNES version of Street Fighter II after EGM had a picture of it in one issue only to learn it was an April Fool's fake photo. 24> You own ANY kind of arcade upright in your house and collect pricey PCB boards and/or Arcade Cartridge based systems like the Neo:Geo, Atomiswave, or Taito F-5. 25> You're still bellyaching over SEGA never having released a proper 2-D (preferably high res 2-D) Bare Knuckle 4 26> You're going to purchase in the near future a copy of SFT's Beggar Prince for the Mega Drive (Genesis) and are an avid fan of the flourishing retro scene of the pre-Famicom era. 27> You've read just about EVERY book ever published about video games and the industry overall. 28> Have ever driven at least 300 + miles into another city just to pick up a game system you wanted, having planned it into the family vacation destination because you wanted it that bad. 29> You refuse (usually) to buy USED games unless they have no more than a hairline scratch, and bitch if there's a few more. 30> You actually know what WCPO stands for. 31> You're probably a connoisseur and hardcore to boot if you actually took the time to read the last 30 listings and enjoyed this. Or something like that anyhow
  4. BLACK (getting it soon) MGS 3: Subsistence KILLZONE 2 Stranglehold ~Hard-Boiled II~ MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots
  5. I have no patience for anything other than arcade style games unless it's something I'm really interested in like the MGS games. However, I'd say if I'm not still interested after 2 hours on a current game and no more than 10 minutes on a classic... I walk off and never look back. I almost didn't get to experience the greatness of KILLZONE due to being frustrated with the slightly jerky controls, the fact that the sniper rifle mode was worthless, as it came nowhere near utilizing MOS 8541 the way it should've been with a telescopic sighted specialty rifle. I remember getting as far as some walkway area in the first mission (oh yeah the fact the soldier couldn't jump over something like a curb was annoying due to no action button), but I gave it a go and forced myself to make do with the controls and enjoyed the game. Usually this kind of thing will just turn me off to a game, I'm afraid I don't have the patience I did as a kid trying to figure out how to defeat Stage 3 Boss "Basaquer" in Ninja Gaiden on the NES after being defeated by him for the 18th time, and realizing I needed the open palm flame hand.
  6. Oh well, but I am serious on the bulk of what I had to say. I'm just over excited to see a flourishing scene for *new* games for systems like the 2600 is all. I'm sure most here are used to it and it's not a big deal (the giddyness I mean) but I like to live in that fire within, always have and always will, if I can be or service to anyone in the near future (monetary contributions) I stand by what I have said. First things first of course and that's picking me up some games from the AA Store, after tracking down about 10 other games I've been looking to rebuy all these years later. Well thanks to all who responded.
  7. Hmm... Interesting. I didn't realize the head honcho of AA was making the carts himself. Much props to him then of course, as that's got to be time consuming. As for one of the programmers simply quitting... well would what it take to either convince that person to finish the game (especially since it looks like the other guy is willing to continue it and wanted to ---from the link you put up) ??? If not him somebody else (with his permission of course) finishing it up? This is why I asked about sponsorship/contributions. If a programmer working on something that only a small market of die-hards like ourselves appreciate, knew there was some money involved as incentive, would they finish the game? Right now I'm personally in a bind, (hell I've got to sell stuff off) credit card wise, but 6 months from now would be a different story. I've done things like this in the past with other media, helping fund art projects and what not, can't see why I wouldn't do it again in my favorite hobby medium of video games. I know a lot of ppl talk smack, but I seriously will begin pooling money as of today towards seeing that whatever projects that interest me that might need money, or money to make it worthwhile for ppl get it. If I could understand how to program myself hell I'd make the most wickedly sick (as in good) game in existence. My forte' sadly is just "writing" though I have access to a damn good artist and have plotted out more than a few design documents in the past, for games I had envisioned one day being on the PC-Engine Duo or Mega Drive. Thing is, no one I knew (or know) could program for those consoles, then I stumble upon the 2600, 5200, 7800 scene and see that original homebrews and hacks are actually much more vibrant than the same tired old "Tetris" clones that every other retro system seems to have and that's the end of it. There was this guy in France awhile back who was working on a Neo:Geo version of Dracula X: Rondo of Blood, but the dude simply vanished one day and save a few screen shots that looked good... it became nothing. This always saddens me as a gamer who's 90% Retro and only 10% current. I need new games and love to see new ideas on the older systems, and after seeing what a lot of imagination and time invested can produce for the very first game system I ever played and have come back to... well I've got ideas from a non programmer standpoint. I just would like to be friends with the community at large who do continue to make games and might be interested in the future of such concepts. Like for example I was looking at the 7800 version of Commando (Battlefield of the Wolf) and thinking, whom would I have to contact and how much might it cost to have someone "port" the 1986 Taito RGS game L.S.A. SQUAD (Aka: "Storming Party") to the 7800? It's not more advanced than what Commando was in it's hey day and is basically the same game save the fact in LSA Squad you can jump into vehicles. The music is a continuing series of drum beats and a whistling tune (I remember the game fondly from back in the 80's still trying to track one down for my mini arcade). See a project like this if a group said they'd work on it and make a limited run say no more than 100 copies, I'd seriously save up the cash so that half a year to a year later we'd have $1,000 or more to work with. To me this is what gaming was about in the past and should come back to, where ppl are helping one another out and encourgaing others in the areas we ourselves might lack. Instead we all get the next GTA clone or other vapid entry in an industry that sadly needs millions just to make a new game. At the least I will be seeing how I might be able to donate money in the near future (aside from buying some carts because I've seen more than a few I need to buy already) to the AA website. It does suck though, that more than likely FADE OUT probably won't be revived after reading that thread.
  8. It's cool, but you could've even PMed me and asked for $80.00 and I'd have bought right then and there too. *Of course when ppl say "Reproduction" cart we're talking about a normal 2600 looking cartridge here like what is pictured on the game at the Atari Age website right? I did some more checking though on the game last night and learned it doesn't even have sound, let alone music (I always loved the theme). Didn't realize that @ first actually. I knew it was an unreleased prototype but I had thought someone had finished it then released a small copy of them. Thus knowing that now, it be hard for me to pay anything more than $80.00 cause it just wouldn't be the same without the sound. The bugs and floating in air thing I could handle. Oh well, I lost out on the one you were selling cause I'm mortal and had to get some sleep. [someday]
  9. "GAWD DANGIT BLOB!" Of course my next question would be Why? That game looked so promising, like something out of an action flick brought to life 2600 style. Did funds run out to produce the game? If so couldn't anyone who was interested in it all pitch in and donate money towards it's completion? I'm a bit strapped for Ca$h money myself right now (kids are expensive) but when I'm a bit better off say in 5 months or so, hell I alone would PayPal a few hundred bucks to see it finished. Hopefully it wouldn't be more than than that, depending on how far along the game actually was. If figures though, I get back into the pre-Famicom scene and get giddy when I realize all these wondefull *new* games are coming out from private development groups or individuals, and the first thing that really gets me pumped has already been axed? I guess my next question would be then... Is there some kind of a sponsorship/contributors program set up to help those with their endeavors along, in return for a couple copies for free when the game is released and possibly getting credit for what would basically be like being a producer for a game? I've been wondering just how much money really is involved on these projects for the homebrew scene overall in general too. I'm not rich by a long shot but if it's something I feel strongly about instead of buying $200 bucks worth of DVDs I didn't need, might as well accumulate it all into maybe half a thousand and help a developer along (where one could) into finishing up a game, or even maybe paying someone (or a group) to bring to life a game well design documented and work with them from a visual concept designer standpoint (it it was the funder's project I mean). This is just something to think about overall, I dunno who would have the answer on this one but anyone who is in the know, by all means break down how the homebrew scene really works.
  10. Yeah I saw that a few minutes ago actually. I'd bite but I don't have that kind of money to burn right now sadly. I mean I'm used (well I was in the past) to paying those kinds of prices for Neo:Geo AES/MVS carts but for a 2600 game? ---Sad thing is I'd pay it if I had it to burn but if I'm going to spend that amount I'd need to be getting more than one game. It's tempting but I'd deserve it when my wife kicked me square in the ass when she saw the VISA bill, so probably not this time. I'm sure I could find it as a ROM for emulation but I like to own the actual product. {Me wonders if I'll ever get me a copy of this}
  11. I realize that the game FADE OUT is listed as "TBA" as it's release date, but does anyone know just how far along the game is to completion and distribution? I was skimming the AA site's In Development section and this game caught my fancy right from it's kick ass cartridge artwork to the screen shots. Heck the descriptions of the two assassins in a factory facing off, reminds me of the warehouse gun violence going on in the Japanese film... which the film was a mishmash of Reservoir Dogs + Hard Target and for some reason I just see all of that heroic bloodshed when I see "Fade Out". I'm new to the *new* releases homebrew & hacks 2600 scene, which is fucking cool no doubt, so I haven't adjusted yet to getting Pumped Up about a game, but it just looks awesome. It's one of the upcomming games I want for my collection, but I wonder just how far off it is before it's unleashed. So does anyone know?
  12. I recently not only stopped collecting for BUT SOLD off my Super Famicom and have only a few remaning games CIB (Macross SV, Hokuto No Ken 6, The Thunderbirds, Snoopy Concert) that I need to sell off and then I'm done with it. I have had (2) SFCs and (4) SNES units over the years and while I do love the games that came out for the system, [and I know I'm generally in the minority on this issue] I personally get more enjoyment out my my Mega Drive and regular 8-Bit Famicom systems... and as of late it's only been the 2600 VCS I'm playing (soon to be 7800). I've also gotten rid of my XBOX (back in 2004 actually) and don't forsee buying another one unless it's a pre-modded ROM BOX setup for Mame and other stuff so not really for XB games. This time around I've no regrets. Heck I'm going to be putting up selling threads here and a few other forums soon for my Sega Master System + all the games, as well as some rare LCD handhelds like SDF Macross: Protect Armored 01 and an N64 bundle pre modded for import games + accelerator graphics chip, along with my Sega Saturn (which I love but it's time to let go). And again I'll have no regrets. I'm trying to get my collection down to no more than 7 systems total.
  13. "GAWD DANGIT BLOB!" ...for some reason the thread thingy didn't light up on my screen and I just now saw all of the other replies to this thread only to learn it's sold. oh well, if anyone has one up for sale I'll pay up to $60.00 right off the bat for it, of course I'm assuming it be in good condition & playable since it's not that old of a game (well release wise anyhow). I can pay PayPal but I'd prefer to use US Postal Money Order simply because I'm trying not to use the card too much as I need to pay some bills off first, but will if I have to. I can provide stellar feedback from various places I have done business with ppl if any respective sellers of this game should see this thread and want to sell. To those who said EBAY, I've been checking and nada mucho is all I see on this one, and a man's got to sleep sometime.
  14. Well I'm already halfway there really, though I'm not regularly collecting arcade upright cabs presently, as my interests are with the 7800 ProSystem currently. However, I'll throw down my Top 10, which coincidentally is the actual number of uprights that will fit the room I have my first three in pictured below in my mini arcade, followed by a PCB board + Game Controls + Marquee that needs to be built into an upright, when I can find the time to do it: Neo:Geo 2-Slot, Rastan, IKARI III: The Rescue so counting the Neo:Geo MVS 2-Slot as One game even though it holds two I'll continue the rest of the wish list for a private arcade: #05>The Ninja Warriors #06>Lucky & Wild #07>Street Fighter (6 button version) #08>L.S.A. SQUAD (Aka: "Storming Party") ^Game I most would like to see ported to the 7800 #09>Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder #10>Cloak & Dagger (Aka: "Agent X") Beyond that I'd have to say both arcade CONTRA games AREA 88, Double Dragon II: The Revenge, and probably Steel Gunner. It's acheivable but I doubt I'm going to go any further with my mini arcade once I finally get around to getting MX 5000 up and running.
  15. I hear what you're saying, but the Metal Gear games have always had this odd "moving up into the screen but you can't see what's ahead of you" POV when in the non 1st Person mode. To Me anyhow, 3rd person POV is from over the shoulder and/or behind the character ala' Syphon Filter, Max Payne... stuff like that. In the original release of MGS 3: Snake Eater you could move the camera around a little bit but not enough that you could actually see around you and especially what you're moving towards. The new camera angle thing will basically allow MGS 3: Subsistence to be played like say Freedom Fighters and for me that's what makes a game enjoyable. I hated having to switch from moving around going into the screen and then into 1st Person POV to fight bosses in Snake Eater. DAMN, I didn't realize one had to pre-order to get that 3 hour CG movie disc, I thought it automatically came with the game. Looks like I better get my ass on over to an EB or Gamestop to make a pre-order then. Thanks for the heads up.
  16. Well even though I've been playing my 2600 VCS more than anything else as of late, and am anticipating my 7800 ProSystem in the mail... my undying favorite console has been the SEGA Mega Drive (JPN model 1) probably since around 1993. Before that I went back and forth on what my fave system was, and many have come and gone in the last 23 years but I'd never sell my MD system nor any of my Atari systems either. Heck I've owned (7) Playstations at one point or another, (5) SATURNs... (3) Neo:Geo AES... (3) PS2s... (1) Xbox... etc, etc. But the the system that always remains is my Mega Drive, and my 2600 which I've had since 1983. For a more detailed look into how I look at things and gaming habbits read this, which sums it all up the 2nd question you ask as to Why? Not so much on my fave system but in SEGA overall.
  17. I've been down with the Metal Gear franchise from the start... well since it's bastardized Famicom/NES "port" anyhow back in 1987 as a lot of others are as well. But everyone I've talked to has different reasons for being interested in the upcomming (domestically) release of MGS 3: Subsistence. Some merely want to play online, others want to play the first two original games, others want to reap the benefits from a long needed 3rd person behind-the-character POV control scheme, and other want the whole package. Personally, I'm buying it because Kojima is finally releasing the original MSX versions of the first two Metal Gear games, and more importantly the sequel that IMO is the best of the series to this day... well it's the Japanese Mobile Phone "port" of the MSX version (MG II: Solid Snake) with some generic avatars in place of the original faces, but it's still a blast to know he's going to release it finally. For me this is the #1 selling point for this entry, followed by the fact I got put out with the non 3rd person POV controls in "Snake Eater". I'm just curious what about the new release is the reason ppl here are going to buy the game?
  18. None of that surprises me in the least, and the sad thing is, is that your average *mainstream* gamer won't see a problem with it, sign up and before you know it EVERYONE will be forcing stuff like that on gamers without a choice. To me it's not much different than how stores like BEST BUY want to track where I'm from upon buying something. Or how I'd go into a radio shack in the past to get a simple AV cable and they'd want all my personal info, which I ain't giving them and if I do it's fake address to some parking lot in Japan that at one time was the black market outdoor stalls 2 days after WWII ended. Some will say it's a part of progress I call it bullshit. But whatever floats another's boat.
  19. Only problem with that NEX Famiclone is that it (like all other clones I've tried out) cannot support Akumajo Densetsu FC (Castlevania III), with it's much better sound. Same thing or the JPN Famicom cart of Contra that has the extra animations like the snow storm or trees blowing in the wind during the first stage. Beyond that it's an alright clone, but the game controller sucks too. It's neat being able to play both NES and Famicom games on it though.
  20. After your thread conjured up memories from my sub-consciousness I swore to myself there was one for Double Dragon and after a quick search it turns out I wasn't dreaming it after all. There was a kid I knew in junior high who had one, only saw him with it one time at lunch, which is partly why I thought I dreamed it up. There are a few more game-tie ins in the KLIX lineup though. I want to say one was a Super Mario Bros. one, but I might be mistaking that with the mini pachinko adventure maze game Nintendo released in the summer of 1990.
  21. Playstation 2 easily. Hell MGS 3: Subsistence alone is reason enough for a lot of ppl who sold their PS2s to pick a used one up.
  22. Good to know I'll be able to play my copy of Robotron 2084 using only one of the ProLine Joysticks. I was assuming I'd be able to, and use one of the firing buttons to shoot and I guess I was right. This is one of the main reasons I wanted the 7800, I know it's not the arcade version but I'm and oddball because I often prefer "ports" to the originals depending on what game it is. I may very well be like that after playing the 7800 version upon getting it. I know I've always liked the 2600VCS ports of Phoenix and Crystal Castles over the originals. Thanks to all who replied with the info drop!
  23. 1) How old are you? 27 years old 2) What sex are you? Male 3) When did you get an Atari? 08. September. 1983 4) When did you become involved with the Atari? (i.e. you wanted to play this over newer systems at the time or today). Well I primarily played my 2600 VCS up until about 1988, even after getting one of the "test" NES packs with the Gyromite Robot my uncle sent me in 1985 while he was on business in NYC. **As of 2005 I dusted off my old VCS and have been playing a lot of it lately, along with my Mega Drive and Famicom AV. 5) Why the 2600? What does it offer to YOU that other systems, whether old or new, don't? After coming full circle I realize that while I'll never stop playing the current stuff, the newer stuff isn't neccessarily better. I honestly don't have the time to play epic quests for 20 and 80 hours, nor do I care to learn what 8 different buttons do. I want a game I can learn in minutes but take a lifetime to master. The 2600 has just that. 6) What drink keeps you going? (in case you spend long hours on the 2600). Nothing really, but I do drink that one Chuck Norris power drink... something called "Red Bull" I believe. 7) How many hours a day or at a time do you play the Atari? Most of the time (like with the Mega Drive) I play in half hour intervals, though just the other night I spent 3 hours on Snoopy & The Red Baron seeing how long I could go without getting careless and losing a flying dog house. It's not uncommon for me to play an hour of Chopper Command, then spend another 20 minutes or so with Keystone Kapers. How many days a week do you spend on it? Lately it's been about 4 days out of the week. 9) Your top 3-5 games. WHY these choices? Snoopy & The Red Baron ---It's quick, fun and addictive. And I've liked the Snoopy character since I was a kid. Crystal Castles ---I just can't get bored of this game. I actually like the 2600 VCS port better than the original arcade version. I still have yet to flip the cartridge but I will one day. PHOENIX ---Simply a blast to play! Again I like it better than the arcade version, to me the arcade version had some truly grating noises that thankfully aren't in the 2600 port. Chopper Command ---Frustrating at times but addictive. I've loved this game since I first powered it up in 1985. Played it more than I did Tiger-Heli on the Famicom/NES back when that game was *new*. as for the fifth game in my top 5, it's just not coming to me right now. 10) Do you play any other systems besides the 2600? Yep. Sega Master System (about to sell it though), Sega Mega Drive, Famicom AV, Super ColecoVision, Sega Satrun *import* (about to sell though), Playstation, PS2, Nintendo DS. 11) How do you view gaming of today as compared to the 70's/80's? Personally save a few revolutionary titles here or there, I don’t care for these epic quests. I like games to be something you can learn in a minute but take a lifetime to truly master. I want to play and enjoy a game for the sessions that last between half an hour to no more than an hour and a half. If it’s a really good RPG or Metal Gear type game I could see gaming for 4 hours straight, but even then I need to do something else. Also being more of a 2-D gamer and with so little of that medium being produced I spend more time collecting and playing retro stuff. I truly lack the patience and time it takes to learn all 8 + button functions, learn sub menus and more on the newer stuff. Thus I’ll say that gaming today is just as strong as it was evolving and in some respects is better, but I don’t much care for it. 12) Do you usually just play the 2600 alone or have someone play with you? (If so, is it a relative or friend?) Usually alone because even the most die hard of my gamer friends won't play anything older than the Nintendo Famicom/NES. Though the 2600 is still the only system my father can play and we still goes rounds of "Basketball" or "Bowling" when I visit him. Hell the man still owes me a rematch in "Atari Football" from a game we had in 1993. 13) Finally, do you or have you ever tried to turn someone to the "Atari side"? Yep all the time, but most of the people I run into think that the Playstation is "retro" gaming and might know what a Famicom/NES is. When they see the 2600 a lot of ppl just scoff at it and wonder why I bother. I guess if one didn't grow up with it and the evolution of gaming overall it might be a hard sell. Then there's the homies I grew up with (5 of which I'm still in contact with and friends with), but they don't even have the time for the 8-Bit Famicom let alone going back to the VCS days. My best friend of 20 years will join me in some 2600 goodness when he visits SATX but that's about it. Still though I will continue to get ppl to see the brillance of the VCS.
  24. Well back in the day (at different points) I wanted the following game systems but wasn't able to obtain them... ColecoVision Atari 7800 ProSystem Neo:Geo AES SuperGrafx WonderMega Bandai Playdia Since the old days though I've owned all now except the Super Grafx and finally I've got me a 7800 en route to me within the week w. 35 games + 2 joysticks. Thus now it's only the Super Grafx that I haven't owned, which doesn't matter really as it had all of FOUR games ever released for it. The WonderMega would be nice but I'm happy with just my model 1 Mega Drive system + Mega CD setup.
