The show was pretty good, though except for the increased crowds, things seemed relatively similar to me since my last visit in 2011. While it's not a knock on the MGC, I think my days of attending are over. I am really an Atari guy (mostly 2600) and I go to these things to buy boxed 2600 stuff. But it seems like the "in" stuff is now NES, Genesis, etc and there's very little for me to purchase in my wheelhouse. It's a bummer, but it seems like the scene is moving on. Had a similar experience with my first trip to CGE last summer. Are other 2600 collectors feeling the same way? Are there any places you go to complete your 2600 collection besides the marketplace here and eBay?

Atari 1982 Calendar (not the 1983 one)
lapetino replied to Allan's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
Very cool calendar! I love seeing the Atari art showcased like this. How big is one page of the calendar, just out of curiosity? Thanks for sharing the images. -
Are there any developments on this game? I read the book over the winter and loved it. Nice work, all!

Really looking forward to this tomorrow! See you all there.

Work In Progress: "Bentley Bear: Crystal Quest"
lapetino replied to PacManPlus's topic in Atari 7800
I could never say it's an "issue," Bob, as you have birthed so many great games for the Atari community, and this game is no exception. But I've played it some (hard!) and would love, love LOVE for it to have background music. For me, that separates the awesome platformers like Pitfall 2 from everything else, so it would be the ultimate cherry on top. But as another creative person, I totally understand the notion of calling something done at some point. But if you wanted to persevere, I think this game would be extra special with that music. Is there any way someone else could help with it, and would that be interesting to you? (With no programming skills, it can't be me.) Just a thought. Thanks for the great stuff you do. It is appreciated! -
7800 Expansion Module (XM) hardware & game details - 7/8/2016

Sweet! Hopefully Curt is feeling better, and this project will now see the light of day. Sooooo close! -
Fun bump of this thread. I'd love to get one of these too.

Very nice, Zwackery! Random question -- what is the classic Tron figure reaching out with his disc? It kind of looks like the San Diego comicon figure, but different. Curious, because I'm a huge Tron fan as well!

So, has everything been worked out between the.golden.ax and mos6507? I was curious about availability for a Vec Vox, and what games that works with. And as an addendum, thanks for all your work with the community, mos!

Would you support a crowd funded, brand new, Atari 2600 console?
lapetino replied to Dr Manhattan's topic in Atari 2600
This is a great idea! -
That art was done by Cliff Spohn, of course originally for Combat.

I've got a Supercharger and the Stella Gets A New Brain CD as well, but I wouldn't want another physical thing unless it's a cart. I would pay for an MP3 download, but then you have the whole piracy issue, which is what probably has kept more people from doing it.

I should be there on Sat. Looking forward to it!

Curt could. -

I'd love to see a new, updated console with modern HDMI, etc plugs for video and audio. But I'd also support a motherboard swap that could slide into a vintage case without any soldering. -
Yeah, Allan, I don't know who that is. Do you have a year on the poster release? I'm much more familiar with the early Atari artists.

Good luck, Curt. We'll be praying for a flawless procedure, and speedy recovery. Feel better, my friend.

Retro Gamer Issue 46 (Atari Special)
lapetino replied to [email protected] Gamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yep, I bought the digital version this morning and I've been reading through it while on the train today. VERY fun, and nice to see people like Curt and Marty being involved in some of the articles as help/consultants. Cool stuff! -

Haha. I got this confused with the new "book" they put out on the Atari 40th anniversary. https://www.imagineshop.co.uk/bookazines/videogames-and-retro/retrogamer/the-atari-book.html -

Are there places to pick this up in the US, or only online? -
Price/Interest Check: Activision Decathlon Training Suit
lapetino replied to jahfish's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
So, I'm assuming you have those now, Rick? What a fun item. I thought I saw someone else have the jacket, and they filled it with Activision patches. Cool beans. -

So, jahfish, do you still have these? -
That's cool! Thanks. Yep, Hexanine is the design firm I own with a partner, and we've done some video game related work. I've gotten a chance to talk at length with Cliff Spohn, and he's a pretty great guy. It's a lot of fun to hear some of his stories from back in the day, setting much of the style for the art of the 2600. As for the coin-op art, I'm really not sure. I know George Opperman did quite a lot of it, but not sure about those two you mentioned. I'm almost exclusively a 2600 guy.
-
Yep, you're correct. It is Chris Kenyon. I've spent many an hour researching these artists.
-
I certainly want to have one someday too!
