  1. Yes, I do have info on this. Can't say any more until things are official, but there is a connection here! (I was able to see this collection in great detail and there are some amazing pieces as part of it.)
  2. Why is that, Nathan? I'm just curious. I like a lot of aspects of that book.
  3. Just found this thread, randomly. Sorry for the necro-bump. But I'm one of the folks quoted in the article. And I *am* working on a book collecting the art of Atari. Hopefully will have some official news to share on that soon. Discussed a bit earlier here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/220583-art-of-atari-book-in-progress-and-need-help/
  4. Potentially, yes on promo items. I am hoping to have some really concrete info to share VERY soon. Sorry for the tease, but things are looking good.
  5. Ah, that makes sense. I don't think we have any need for pre-vis work on this project, then. It will all be handled by the publisher. Thanks.
  6. Thanks for the enthusiasm, Darren. Right now we are targeting 200-250 pages, but that could change. Still a long way to go, and a final size hasn't been determined yet. Thanks for the offer for help on the book design. Depending on how things go, it might be either the publisher's designers designing the book in tandem with us (I'm also a creative director and designer), or we will tackle it with a team. But still TBD. Thanks!
  7. Yes, thanks for the ping. We are currently in proposal stage with a great publisher (can't say who yet), and that is moving along well. There is also potential to be involved in another Atari book as well, but we'll see on that. Concrete details as soon as I can give them.
  8. Hey, all. We acquired a piece of original art, this illustration of Sonic in all his blue glory. But we can't seem to find what this art was used for. Could it be from a Sega magazine or brochure? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
  9. I'd definitely love one (or a set) too! Thanks! These look great.
  10. If I remember correctly, Curt Vendel was going to be making some original 2600 style joysticks based on his USB ones. Not sure of the status of that project, with all that's going on with the XM.
  11. Very cool! Looks great and I can't wait to read it!
  12. I'd love an extra console and cart if there are any left. Missed this one waiting for a Facebook reply. Congrats on the quantity! Nice to see the demand for something so cool.
  13. Depending on if the artist would allow it via rights issues I like the idea of print on demand posters. That could be a good solution to you having to pay for and stock posters, Albert. I don't have experience with the services mentioned but I know Fine Art America does a nice job with this too and you really just have to upload a high res file to allow multiple size posters and prints to be purchased.
  14. By goodness, we loved playing this game as a kid! It was fascinating and really felt like a rich and deep world. And. That. Bat. !!!
  15. Fun idea. Not sure if it will be cost-effective for what we're planning, but a super cool idea anyways. Some of the production will depend on the publisher's desires and how it might fit into the other books they have planned. I can't wait to share when things get to the official stage! In the meanwhile as that rolls on, if anyone has original art or rare marketing or printed pieces, please contact me (tim at play mova dot org). We would love your help!
  16. Thanks, Tron Unit. Feel free to sign up on our list for full future updates. I'll be posting here, of course, but that is a more direct route.
  17. Hey, Skarro. Thanks for the check-in. Things are moving slowly but surely with the potential publisher I mentioned in Nov. Still can't talk about it since nothing is final, but everybody is feeling good about it as we go into the official proposal part of the process. Not much more to say, but we are making progress. Will definitely keep you guys updated -- with a publisher vs self-publishing, the timeline is a bit longer, but I'm fine with that. Want to do this right. More on this as soon as I can talk about it.
  18. Great to hear, Curt! Glad you're excited, as I am too. This is going to make a wonderful addition to the 7800 and its eventually-larger library. Thanks for all the work!
  19. Agreed! I had the same issues with trying to watch it so I also ended up purchasing it too. Well worth the purchase and very well done.
  20. Very interesting for him to share more of his feelings on the time since those days at Atari, rather than once again re-hashing the making of this game. And for the record, I really like that game. We read the manual as kids, and loved trying to make it through. Once you figured out the pits, the game was much easier.
  21. Not sure if that was their motivation, but it definitely hit people over the head with the simplified Pac-Man. But I wish they would have given consumers more credit for know the original was Pac-Man, since it IS plastered all over the box as well. And I just love the creation of that more spherical Pac-Man. The artist really took things to a new level, with a freedom to interpret that companies like Namco would NEVER allow today.
