  1. Not sure if this was discussed and too lazy to look back...but with this version are there gonna be any "jag specific" bonus/content?

Also is there gonna be anything lost in this version?

You can get some info about the Atari Jaguar version here.

    Cheers

  2. That game comes with a box and a manual.

If you want AW to be delivered in an outer protective box instead of a bubble envelope you have to pay more (according to an e-mail reply quoted from by someone on js2). Maybe this will change, that's the last I heard and it wasn't directly from RGC.

Yes, the game comes in a box with a manual.

Regarding shipping, nothing is yet decided, but at least, the price includes standard shipping.

  3. Thanks for your help, Seb, I appreciate it. Feedback from RGC? No.

That's great that you've been informed of that, how about them informing me of that now? THAT is what I'm waiting for!

My order went through Paypal, if that's what you mean, and Paypal confirmed the money went through, and I have a receipt, from Paypal. If you mean by "feeback" the reciept I got, that came from Paypal, not RGC. But that doesn't mean RGC recieved or noticed it at their end, or that it wasn't lost along the way or something.

I have recieved no confirmation or feedback from RGC. If they sent a confirmation e-mail, I never recieved it and they need to send me another one. I will e-mail them personally shortly.

I have had several experiences previously where Paypal "confirmed" everything and I never recieved confirmation or the product from the seller. Information sent from Paypal garantees nothing except that my money has been sent out.

Every one else seems to be getting their confirmation, they are saying so here. If they've confirmed it with you, why didn't they confirmit with me at the same time or instead of you? They apparently got my order, if they told you so, but I'd like them to confirm it with me...like they are doing for everyone else already. I see no reason to PM, if they tell you they've confirmed, I just want them to tell me.

    Hello Gunstar.

    I understand your frustration.

What I meant is that someone at the RGC said me that he sent you a feedback on the 14th of January.

Is it possible that the confirmation email has been lost in your junk folder?

Anyway, I have asked that they send you again a confirmation email.

    Cheers

  4. Seb if the copies aren't gonna be numbered are they at least going to be limited?

    Also I'm #81 :)

Of course, it won't be infinite.

But the idea is to make a run sufficiently big so that anybody who is interested can get the chance to buy it from the RGC.

    Cheers

  5. I'm still waiting...myabe I was just being coddled and patronized when it was "being looked into."

Well, I still have about 30 days to request a refund, so they have that time to verify my pre-order.

I guess I'm going to have to look into it myself, though I shouldn't have to go through this, IMHO.

Well, I wrote a nice sized email explaining my situation and found I had wasted my time as the e-mail address left above returned me a "fatal permanent error" as the "address does not exist." So whatever... :_(

    Hi,

I have been informed that your order has been confirmed and that you got a feedback. Isn't that true?

If not, could you please send me your questions by PM?

    Cheers

    Seb

  6. Everyone get Paypal confirmation from everything I sell too, I still send my own personal confirmation, as hs also happened with every product I've ever bought online with or without Paypal. I get confirmation from the credit card company or Paypal AND from the company or person selling. I'm glad you are confident in them, and you are probably right, but PLAIN COMMON CURTASY is what I EXPECT. As to the number, no it's not a big deal, but I still want to know what numbered copy I'm getting, again, especially if I am waiting HALF A YEAR to get the game.

I'm not asking anyone to ben over backwards to do something they aren't already doing, but when people get confirmations the next day and I've waited almost 2 weeks without, yes, I get CONCERNED. We are all human and human mistakes happen and things can get lost or overlooked.

You just want me to wait six months or more, expecting everything to be sunshine and roses, only to find out my order was lost then? or there was some other mishap? Sure, theyed refund me with my Paypal proof, probably, though it's beyond Paypal's deadline to contest, so I want all my ducks in a row, and you can look at the world through your rose-colored-sunglasses. I've gotten burned before and people EARN my trust and I expect to have to earn the trust of others. It's called ethics and morals and not just saying, but doing what you say.

NON OF THIS IS MEANT TO BE AN ATTACK ON RGC OR THE DEVELOPERS AT ALL. I'm merely replying and stating my valid, logical reasons. I have already been contacted via PM by someone (one of the developers, I think) who is looking into it for me. So they are doing what I expect them to do, thanks!

    Hi Gunstar,

I have received your PM and will check your case personally with the RGC.

    Cheers

    Seb

    PS: copies won't be numbered

  7. Hi,

if you have any (unanswered) questions regarding how to pre-order the game, please send them also to me (SebRmv at_symbol jagware dot org). I will transmit them and get back the answers.

If you have already ordered the game, thank you!

    Cheers

    Seb

  8. So just to clarify, I have until the middle of Feb to get funds together?

    Hi,

RGC has not given official deadline for the end of pre-orders, so this was my personal feeling.

However, I believe that sometimes in next february is a reasonable deadline for us to decide whether or not we shall continue the project, depending on the number of pre-orders.

If the project is cancelled, a full refund policy will be applied, as explained on RGC pre-order site.

    Cheers

    Seb

  9. Several answers:

    - the game works on NTSC consoles and PAL consoles. The game has been tested on stock NTSC and Pal Jaguar consoles. The game is not guaranteed to work on modified hardware.

    - the game comes in two versions: original game (16 colors) and deluxe version (256 colors)

    - a speed run mode is available for more fun: Eric Chahi loved to play the game this way :)

    - the game is translated in 5 languages: english, german, french, spanish, italian but the manual will only be translated in english, german and french

    - regarding the sound: except the introduction and final sequence, there is no music inside the game but there are sound effects. This is similar to the original version of Another World.

    - we spent much time to also design the packaging. It was not an obvious decision to go for a full packaged game, as this really increases the cost.

    - we want to avoid an eBay fiasco "à la" Battlesphere.

If sufficiently enough pre-orders are taken, this will allow us to launch production of a first batch of cartridges and packages and we may have some extra games to sell from this one (but remember that RGC is a non-profit organization, so we won't have much stock).

If a second run is needed, we will think about it. But please, remember that if there is no first run, there won't be other runs afterwards. So, if you are interested in buying Another World on Jaguar, and you are not broke of money right now, please pre-order it now.

    One question:

    - what is Kickstarter?

  10. Hi guys,

first of all, I would like to thank the RGC for their support regarding this project.

I will give my personal feelings about some of the possible frequently asked questions, but please wait the official answer from RGC before deciding whether or not you are willing to pre-order the game, if you have any doubts.

    - How to order?

From what I have understood, RGC expects people to send them an e-mail before ordering.

    - Cost of shipping?

I don't know if the price includes this.

    - Expected schedule of release?

Spring 2013. My feeling is that it will rather be first semester of 2013, ie before 30th june of 2013

    - What if the game is never released?

    see below

    - Is the game ONLY available to those who preorder or will you be able to buy it after release?

The answer is the following: the success of the pre-order will make the game be released.

So if you want to have a chance to get Another World on Atari Jaguar, please pre-order the game as soon as possible.

If we realize that not enough pre-orders have been taken at the 15th of february 2013, the project will be cancelled and a full refund policy will be applied.

  11. Hi,

about 150 people have answered the survey, so this definitely encourages me to finish the project.

I am currently working on the packaging & looking for the best manufacturer possible for the carts & the packaging.

I think I am a bit too short to release the game before the end of the year but first quarter of 2013 is (I hope) doable.

    Cheers

  12. Just tried to complete the survey but got a MySQL error.

Computers eh? bloody pains in the neck :D

Have you retried since this morning?

I have fixed several errors in the survey this morning and the code is now W3C compliant.

Please PM me if you have any difficulties filling the survey.

  13. Yes. That is what the screenshot shows. It is pretty strange. Once I go beyond a certain ymax the pixels start coming down on the right based on the ymax value. Then if I start increasing my ymin the amount on the right moves down with the ymin. Not only does it move down... it also shrinks and the intended line moves further down the screen. Eventually the line on the right will disappear while the intended line reaches the bottom of the screen with the top starting significantly lower than the other lines.

Hi. As I said, I have found the bug. I don't think I will release an update just for that fix, but here is the patch.

In vline.s, replace the block (after label .depth_ok)

    or.l #XADD0,d0
    move.l d0,A2_FLAGS
    moveq #0,d0 ;; remove
    move.w SCREEN_W(a0),d0 ;; remove
    move.l d0,A2_STEP
    move.l d1,B_CMD
    wait_blitter d0

    by

    or.l #XADD0,d0
    move.l d0,A2_FLAGS
    moveq #1,d0 ;; fix
    swap d0 ;; fix
    move.l d0,A2_STEP
    move.l d1,B_CMD
    wait_blitter d0

As every bug, this one was really stupid! Instead of doing Y++ between each inner loop, it was doing X+=W.

The bug happened when X wrapped around 65536, so in this case at line 204. Because X was initially equal to 240.

    Indeed 240+204*320 = 65520 but 240 + 205*320 = 65840 >= 65536

    And 65840 mod 65536 = 304. So an artefact occured at X = 304!
