  1. Is this monitor cable like the one that exists for the ST in that it only works with certain monitors? I was referring to the Indivision AGA 1200 Scandoubler/Flicker Fixer. tjb
  2. Do you Amiga and ST upgrades? I have an ST accelerator and a upgrade that allows an Amiga 1200 to use a VGA monitor I'd like to get installed but I'm afraid I'd screw them up. tjb
  3. Sure that is sensible. I use DosBox to run some games. In particular I use it for Dune2, MOO, Quarantine, and Street Rod. I do like to use modern ports when available though and I thought somebody might find those links useful. I agree. I wasn't trying to shoot down the Windows ports. IIRC the Windows ports allow for higher resolution modes don't they? Have you used them in multiplayer? I would think they are better in that regard as well. Back in the day I used to play at work after hours and I remember those games having issues after reaching 4-5 players. They would get out of sync. You'd swear you killed somebody and he say he killed you. Id did a much better job with Quake. I remember thinking how awesome it was to be able to have players join and leave the game at any time. tjb
  4. Duke and Shadow Warrior have windows ports but Transfusion while good is not quite there yet. I've had shotty sound with the JF Duke port as well. I like DosBox because you can play any of the Build games. tjb
  5. Not sure if this belongs here on in the classic gaming forum. Arguably could go in either. Any fans of the FPS games powered by the Build Engine (Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior, Blood, etc.)? With the advent of DosBox these games play well even under Vista. 3D Realms is now selling Duke and Shadow Warrior for $10 or less bundled with DosBox. I have the CDs somewhere but just opted to go ahead and buy an electronic copy at that price. tjb
  6. Is that like a Sony mainframe?! That guy looks huge tjb
  7. My controllers arrived today! You've really outdone yourself on this batch doubledown! Everything is top notch and very professionally done. tjb
  8. I like it! Thanks for all the time and effort (not to mention expense) you've put into this! tjb
  9. It's listed as GTSC FWIW. They also list GST-ASM. I had never heard of them either (before seeing the ad). Thanks for the link BTW. tjb
  10. That's a wee bit harsh IMO. Funny, however. I got a kick out of it. It reminds me of pointing out the difference between s**t and Shinola. tjb
  11. For real, all that yelling is giving me a headache tjb
  12. Anybody know anything about this compiler or where I might find a copy for sale? It's supposed to simplify GEM, AES, and VDI programming. I ran across an ad for it in the Antic Catalog this evening. tjb

    Gathering in Austin?

Anybody else out there interested in a gathering? I know Al and I aren't the only Atarians in the South Texas area. I know of a couple here in SA, a couple in Houston (assuming they don't mind the trip to Austin). tjb
  14. Is that your posting? Just curious. tjb Edit: I saw your other posting which answers my question.
  15. Wow it seems like a very significant upgrade. The new personal messenger system reminds me of Gmail while other areas seem similar to Facebook. Looks like it adds lots of interesting and useful features. I'm can't wait to give it a spin. tjb
  16. Thanks for the reply and information. I didn't realize it was done using redefined character sets. I thought you were using ANTIC mode F and was thinking the rotating asteroids must have been terribly expensive in terms of space. tjb
  17. Any comments from the 25 downloaders? I like it. I think it a very nice improvement and definitely a worth while project. tjb

    Gathering in Austin?

I'd love to do another show like that in the future, but it requires a ton of planning and money (at least to something as large or larger as the previous show). I haven't forgotten about it. That's not what I'm aiming for here. Something more informal at a space I can get for free (or cheap at least), no admission to get in, a smaller, more informal gathering. And I'd like to actually be able to play games and chat with people. ..Al If it ends up costing I'm willing to chip in. I can see where you'd want something more informal. I would guess you spent most of your time manning the both at the expo. tjb

    Gathering in Austin?

I'm in. Of course it's relatively easy for me since I'm in SA. I really liked the gaming expo back in 2003. I've been hoping since then that something similar would be held. tjb
  20. So for each frame you have 8 individual images right (pre-shifted)? Just out of curiousity how much space does the image data take up? I'm curious because a large chunk of space it taken up for image data in my Rasteroids game. tjb
  21. See! If you piss and moan enough here Curt will PM you and make it all better! tjb
  22. Have you seen the Vic-20 Megacart? Check this out: http://www.mega-cart.com/ tjb Man, that is bad-ass. Nice website as well, very well done overall!! ..Al that is the one I was talking about... I'll post a review when I finally get it Ah, sorry, I missed that. I don't always read all of the replies. tjb
