The only C compilers I know of for the Atari 8-bit machines (the ones hosted on the machine itself) are: Deep Blue C originally from APX and later Antic Lightspeed C from Clearstar Softtechnologies (Apparently B & C Computervisions acquired the rights to this one at some point - I picked up a copy from them a while back) C/65 (from OSS?) I want to say there was an "Ace C" that was some derivative of Deep Blue C (or vice versa) but I can't recall for sure. Are there any others? Of those only C/65 generates native code (assembler source actually). I must admit I'm a little disappointed that the Atari 8-bits didn't have more C compilers available. It seems like the C64 had some really good native code producing compilers. I was always wondering why we didn't. Thoughts? tjb

Anybody have a controller or 2 for the CD32 for sale? Thanks, tjb

I know people have built SD drive carts for the MSX. Does anyone know of someone who builds and sells them? tjb

I'm in for a couple of the #2 option. tjb

Bump for a great seller. My 5200 games have already arrived! tjb

I have the STart disk with FujiBoink on it. There were two steps that you had to follow to get a working demo. Here is a link to the Atari Magazines STart article on the demo. I attached the STart disk from their site. http://www.atarimaga.../Fujiboink.html Cool! Thanks. tjb

Thanks for all the info. I wonder what Mr. Park is up to these days? I believe the sources for the ST version of the FujiBoink demo were released in an article in START. Does anyone remember? tjb

Seems I spoke too soon. They responded to my email shortly after your post on changing cores. I asked about Atari 8-bit support as well and the guy indicated it was a good possibility. I was referring to the 8-bit computer line which I assume you are talking about as well but he mentioned "8-bit Atari 2600". That would be nice but I'd really like to see a 8-bit home computer core. I've seen FPGA-related projects/products for the Amiga, ST, MSX, and C64 but so far no one has done anything for the 8-bit Atari as far as I know. tjb

Duh, I see what you mean now. I neglected to go into the boot menu and copy the US core. It works like a charm now. The video quality is superb. Thanks for the help! I am a little bothered that I have heard nothing from the manufacturer concerning the issue. A simple email would have resolved the issue. Luckily there are people like yourself around who are nice enough to help. tjb

You are trying to run the default PAL C-64 ARG file on an NTSC monitor/TV. Go to www.mcc-home.com and download the NTSC ARG file. Then put it on to your SD card (under the system folder if I remember right), turn it on, and then load the core into the MCC. Once you do, you will get color. Hope this helps. Thanks for the info! It turns out that it's not the wrong .arg file, the version they sent me is the PAL version! I removed the microSD card, booted it and it still displays "pal" to the right. The box has NTSC checked but it's definitely the PAL version. I still have heard nothing from them concerning the issue. tjb It will do both PAL and NTSC. It ships PAL, you just need to get the other .ARG file from their website and load it as another core. To do that, just take out the SD card, and then put it into the system directory with the other one. The default one is C64.arg. The NTSC one you will add in will be C64_NTSC.arg. Once you do that, you can use it as NTSC. It will do both though in software. I had to do that when I got mine also. The hardware itself though is neither PAL or NTSC, it's just the core it loads. Cliff I tried this before my earlier post and had the same results. The thing that seems odd to me is that I can take the MicroSD card out, boot it, and it still boots (and asks for an SD card) but still reports "pal". This is why I thought it was wired as pal. tjb

Does anyone know anything about Xanth Park? I'm familiar with the 8-bit and ST demos created by Xanth but know little more. I take it Xanth was some sort of organization (Company?) rather than an individual? Does anyone know what ever happened to Xanth? I'm hoping someone with some affiliation with Xanth might chime in and provide some background. tjb

Converting an 800 into a XL - Phase One Complete!
tjb replied to warerat's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
If there were to be a production run I'd be interested in purchasing a couple for my 2 800 systems. tjb -

FS: Vectrex set, INTV System III (Intellivision), Seniton System
tjb replied to webmiester's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I take it the INTV System III is essentially the original Intellivision in black and grey (as opposed to brown and grey)? Are the controllers still wired-in? Are there any other notable differences? Thanks, tjb -
I received an MCC last week but it's defective. The graphics are in black and white and it causes the screen to roll vertically. I've e-mailed for support but so far no response. It's only been a day however. Hopefully I can get it resolved pretty quickly. tjb

I just noticed this in an Ebay listing. Looks like another FPGA based system along the lines of the one chip MSX and MiniMig: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiple_Classic_Computer Currently it offers C64 emulation but the Amiga and others are set to follow. Anybody own one of these? tjb
-
Wow, for a system with such a seemingly bad rep there seems to be quite a few people with fond memories of it... tjb

You probably already know this but there are a few vendors that offer reproduction cartridges along with the manual in pdf format. KJMann is one such vendor: http://atari-sales.c...ore/frames.html You'd have to verify the version but I'm sure you could arrange to have him put 3.6 on a cart if he doesn't already. If you're looking to use it as a development tool this might be a viable option. tjb

Beware I LIVE! Sinistar for 8-bit released!
tjb replied to Dutchman2000's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I just found out about this. This is great! Christmas came early this year! I greatly appreciate your efforts to release this to the community Dutchman. I've played around with it under emulation and now I can't wait to get home and try it on a real machine! Is there any chance the sources might one day be released? tjb -
I believe he means that's the "shipped" price if you send the Paypal payment marked as a "gift". This avoids fees. That's my interpretation anyway. tjb

eBay is going to be your best bet (though looks like there are zero for sale right now), but you could try registering on CoCo3.com and the CoCo mailing list. http://five.pairlist...n/listinfo/coco The multi-pak is going to be tough. Thanks for the tips. tjb

I just recently acquired a CoCo3 from Cloud 9 and am looking for a pair of joysticks for it as well a multi-pak interface. Aside from Ebay I don't know of any other sources for Coco hardware/software. tjb

And what section would that be? IMO you posted in the right place. True that some may not care about the Apple II but then again most people here (myself included) collect for many systems, not just Atari. tjb
