  1. Thanks for all the info. I wonder what Mr. Park is up to these days? I believe the sources for the ST version of the FujiBoink demo were released in an article in START. Does anyone remember?

I have the STart disk with FujiBoink on it. There were two steps that you had to follow to get a working demo.

Here is a link to the Atari Magazines STart article on the demo. I attached the STart disk from their site.

    Cool! Thanks.

  2. No problem. Glad I could help. As for the email, I think these guys are a small unit and are doing shows in Europe to promote the machine. Not that that is an excuse, but I know from doing conventions and stuff myself that sometimes it takes a while to get back to people.

Seems I spoke too soon. They responded to my email shortly after your post on changing cores. I asked about Atari 8-bit support as well and the guy indicated it was a good possibility. I was referring to the 8-bit computer line which I assume you are talking about as well but he mentioned "8-bit Atari 2600". That would be nice but I'd really like to see a 8-bit home computer core. I've seen FPGA-related projects/products for the Amiga, ST, MSX, and C64 but so far no one has done anything for the 8-bit Atari as far as I know.

  3.

It will do both PAL and NTSC. It ships PAL, you just need to get the other .ARG file from their website and load it as another core. To do that, just take out the SD card, and then put it into the system directory with the other one. The default one is C64.arg. The NTSC one you will add in will be C64_NTSC.arg. Once you do that, you can use it as NTSC. It will do both though in software. I had to do that when I got mine also. The hardware itself though is neither PAL or NTSC, it's just the core it loads.

Duh, I see what you mean now. I neglected to go into the boot menu and copy the US core. It works like a charm now. The video quality is superb. Thanks for the help! I am a little bothered that I have heard nothing from the manufacturer concerning the issue. A simple email would have resolved the issue. Luckily there are people like yourself around who are nice enough to help.

  4. I received an MCC last week but it's defective. The graphics are in black and white and it causes the screen to roll vertically. I've e-mailed for support but so far no response. It's only been a day however. Hopefully I can get it resolved pretty quickly.

You are trying to run the default PAL C-64 ARG file on an NTSC monitor/TV. Go to www.mcc-home.com and download the NTSC ARG file. Then put it on to your SD card (under the system folder if I remember right), turn it on, and then load the core into the MCC. Once you do, you will get color. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info! It turns out that it's not the wrong .arg file, the version they sent me is the PAL version! I removed the microSD card, booted it and it still displays "pal" to the right. The box has NTSC checked but it's definitely the PAL version. I still have heard nothing from them concerning the issue.

I tried this before my earlier post and had the same results. The thing that seems odd to me is that I can take the MicroSD card out, boot it, and it still boots (and asks for an SD card) but still reports "pal". This is why I thought it was wired as pal.

  5. Does anyone know anything about Xanth Park? I'm familiar with the 8-bit and ST demos created by Xanth but know little more. I take it Xanth was some sort of organization (Company?) rather than an individual? Does anyone know what ever happened to Xanth? I'm hoping someone with some affiliation with Xanth might chime in and provide some background.

  7. Hi all,

Not sure that's the right zone to post this, but I will try (shoot me if I wrong) ;-)

I'm looking for ACTION! cartridge, docs and tools in decent condition (for A8 software development purpose)

Just missed one on ebay last week...

be free to make an offer if anyone can sold me this, it will found a good home.

Best wishes to all ATARI fellows and especially my ATARI Friends :-)

    Rudy

You probably already know this but there are a few vendors that offer reproduction cartridges along with the manual in pdf format. KJMann is one such vendor:

You'd have to verify the version but I'm sure you could arrange to have him put 3.6 on a cart if he doesn't already. If you're looking to use it as a development tool this might be a viable option.

  8. I just recently acquired a CoCo3 from Cloud 9 and am looking for a pair of joysticks for it as well a multi-pak interface. Aside from Ebay I don't know of any other sources for Coco hardware/software.

    tjb

eBay is going to be your best bet (though looks like there are zero for sale right now), but you could try registering on CoCo3.com and the CoCo mailing list. http://five.pairlist...n/listinfo/coco

The multi-pak is going to be tough.

    Thanks for the tips.

  9. Are you just doing a little house cleaning or will Mean Hamster no longer be developing for classic systems such as the 5200? If Mean Hamster is no longer supporting the 5200 will you be selling the source code for your existing products?

BTW, I received my Atari 800 256K Ram board last Friday, thanks!

Ah! So you're the one that beat me to it! Grrrrr! :x :D

Oops, sorry. Usually I'm the one who gets ends up a day late and a dollar short...

  11. Now you just need an A/V mod, a speed switch, and a power indicator. :D then it will match it's big brother I'm working on.

I know, it's pretty crazy. I guess I'm a sucker for a great deal. You can never have too many spares...
