  2. If you've actually taken those courses you'd know it doesn't work that way...it isn't that simple.

You're assuming the rate of inflation for everything is constant. It's not. What if the average price of the average item on ebay has increased 5%, but operating expenses are up 15%? If Ebay doesn't increase their fees to conpensate, the fall behind.

I'm not saying that's the case, and I'm certainly not saying Ebay isnt making $$ hand over fist. That's actually what corporations do, make money.

Honestly though I won't make a big deal over the fees. I don't sell often, maybe a few items every other month. I don't use ebay as a substitute for a real job, so my view of ebay is what it was originally meant as, a way to get rid of crap you don't want and make a few bucks... so when I sell something now I'll make a buck less. Not a biggie to me although I understand the power brokers are up in arms since every penny to them counts. I can see where they are coming from.

However the new feedback idea is bar none the best thing ebay has done since I've been a member. For that alone I plan on going out of my way to buy stuff ending on the day of this "strike". :D

No offense, but you have no idea what your talking about. :ponder:

  3. Its good to see they finally made gallery free. Its been a long contention of mine that that is the biggest ripoff and proof that they would rather the seller not sell something and make money off of relists. This is the 1st time I see them taking steps that help sellers.

However you view the new system, allowing buyers the only ones to leave negatives sets the stage for more fraud from buyers in general. It does not matter to paypal even if the item arrived. The buyer can say it was "not as described" and similar tactics to get their money back as already happens now anyhow and this will just make it easier for crooks to do so. It wasnt perfect before and its not perfect now and I do say the number of sellers will decline eventually if this stays in place because it will definately help crooks to commit fraud more easier and more often. To paypal, getting something as "undescribed" is just as well as not getting it at all and the buyer needs 0 proof to do this. This will have an impact and time will tell.

I am not real happy about the free gallery. If you paid the 35 cents before for the gallery your auction would stand out over those who did not have gallery. Now that every auction will have a gallery it won't make a difference if you have it or not. The increase in the final value fees is going to more than make up for the 35 cents that eBay will loose out on the gallery. eBay isn't doing this for the sellers. eBay is doing this for eBay.

There are better ways to make it stand out. Use the 75 cent gallery feature, is that not being reduced? I also dont know all the details nor do I really care, but the FVfees hike is stores only I thought? When You sell at auction, is that FVfee up as well? I think its a matter of time before someone REALLY competes with Ebay now and then traffic will be down and thinned out = less sales, infact, i think that is already beginning to happen.

Unfortunately the upage to over 8% final value fee is for everybody and after paypal fees its almost 15% ridiculous really

  4. You obviously dont understand that without the sellers there will be no ebay. Most power sellers and other people who pay most of ebay's profits will just take there business to amazon. and if Ebay realized they are losing money they will go back to their old ways..it may be to late then

Shipping Fees have nothing to do with it.

If i want to sell a 20.00 item it can be

    19.00 and 1.oo ship

    17.00 and 3.00 ship

2.00 and 18.00 ship its all the same to the buyer

the lower the shiping the higher the price.

thats just common sense I always wondered why buyers complain over the shipping price. Its cleary stated and if the shipping price is high more than likely the actualy price of the item was low. or they would not have bought it.

    Its all Relative.

I'd love to see this supposed email. especially since Ebays TOS prohibits excessive shipping and "handling" charges, them suggesting or even openly allowing this is in direct conflict with what they have established.

Well then they must not consider a handling fee which covers paypal costs "excessive".

I'm not sure but I think I've just been called a liar. I don't have the email anymore this was years ago. There was no reason to save it. If eBay stores all past announcements then you can find it there I'm sure. Or someone could post an auction charging for Paypal and we could complain about it and see what current email eBay sends the seller. It may be different now but the email they sent out specificlly stated this was an option sellers could take.

This is close to proof as there is right now. I'm sure this has been updated several times since but go look up the policy on paypal surcharges.

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-surcharges.html

    Now click examples.

I bet if you search the web someone saved that email.

No I didnt mean to call you a liar. You either misread the email, or it wasn't from Ebay.

To be honest, I'd probablly have a hard time finding where I saw that it is against ebays TOS to use shiping to offset paypal and/or listing fees. But really, you'd have to be a pretty poor seller to pull that. That's hardcore deception, and all you'd do is sucker a few people for a short time, and after getting some seriously deserved negs for pulling such a stunt you'd have nobody buying from you.

Why sellers can't take the honest road and use deception never made sense to me. figure in your expenses into the price of the product, and charge actual shipping. Don't bite the hand that feeds you by ripping off your customers. It's just plain dumb.

PS...your link pretty much validates what I had said. You can't charge customers an additional fee for the type of payment the make. By hiding it inside the shipping fee you would be doing just that.

Or, did you interpret the fact that they didn't name paypal specificially as free reign to charge a surcharge for customers paying by that method? Please tell me that's not what you are thinking.

Its NOT the same, this has been proven wrong.

Typical seller though....saying that when using deceptive methods the ends justify the means.

If shipping is stated at $18.00, and the stamp is $2.00 what's being clearly stated is that the seller is a thief and a liar.

But guess what? The days of pulling that crap are OVEROVEROVER now sellers will have to be honest or they will get a much deserved negative, and they can't pull the retaliation neg out of their butts either.

By far the best move ebay has ever made.

Sorry to bruise your huge ego as a wonderful first class ebay buyer, but all of this bitching you have done about nonsense stuff and the way you back up ebay as though u have stock in it. I don't think there are many GOOD or BAD sellers that would want u as a customer. Saying things like Typical seller is a stereotype if u didn't know. If you think all of these new procedures are an improvement u must be high on something or have a good stock in the company. Sorry but you say the same thing over and over and no matter how many times you say it.........you never make sense.

Ok...nonsense stuff like not wanting to get ripped off? And yes, I think the new feedback system is WONDERFUL AWESOME GREAT!!!

I'm sure sellers who use feedback as a bargain chip, and/or rip buyers off with inflated shipping, etc are up in arms.

And I make perfect sense. Ebay agrees. Now, excuse me while I get high on some HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Oh, btw...no I do not now, nor have I ever owned Ebay stock. I just don't like scam artist sellers. Yeah I know...according to you that makes no sense. According to Ebay I do. If you are a seller and don't like it, may I suggest not selling on Ebay anymore.

Funny...a lot of people must REALLY be pissed, after all this time of sellers like myself complaining about dishonest selling practices, Ebay finally comes along and fixes it to the extreme.

Man it must kill guys like you to see my nonsense bitching validated. :lolblue:

  5. You obviously dont sell on ebay and are now going to leave negative for every little thing if its not perfect just how you imagined it. (Great)

No negative or neutral feedback for buyers - coming in May

Sellers will not be able to leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers. Of course sellers will have the option to not leave any feedback if they feel the buyer has not warranted positive feedback.

I must be the only one who this this is a wonderful thing,no more retaliation feedback from rip off sellers.

I have had the need to leave negative feedback on numerous occcasions from sellers who leave out certain item, who send boxed games in fucking bubble envelope and whom are just plain rude to me because i have the goul to complain, but i have chosen not to because i know they will leave me a neg also, even though i have done nothing wrong. As a seller i am totally comfortable with this policy also as i always try and do the right thing and not send on the cheap and not rip off my customers. This policy will weed out the crap sellers and will encourage the good sellers...Praise Ebay.

  7. Personally, I cannot under stand how someone can go into a Lamestop, look at the same game both new and used, and buy the used game.

The used game is less than 5 dollars cheaper than the brand new. For that price, I would rather buy the brand new game.

Also the bullshit trick they do where they try and give you an opened unsealed game as brand new is enraging. I don't care if the store opened it. IT IS NOT BRAND NEW / SEALED. Don't sell it as one. I would never take that.

I also hate they give you "in store credit" instead of cash. Funcoland was awesome. I remember when they would give you cash. They had games for every system just about.

When gamestop just got rid of all the Dreamcast stuff, I asked the clerk why. The clerk said it was an obsolete system and they won't carry it anymore. I then showed him the N64 and PSX sections of the store, and he had nothing to say.

And when you pre-order a game, you're not garenteed (sp) to get it??? That's bullshit. If you pre-order the game, the store better fuckin have it for you.

And when a new release does come out, how come Gamestops are the last ones to have it? They never even have it the day it comes out! I can go to walmart and it will be waiting for me there. If you are a games-only store, I can't understand why you are not on the ball.

I remember I almost got into a fist fight with the clerks at one Gamestop. I looked at the used prices of the games, and I told them I could walk next door to the extremely overpriced Sam Goody and get the game brand new for less than a used game! The clerk became very angry starting getting rowdy. He asked if I wanted to step outside. I obliged, but then he wound up wussing out and staying in the store. The sad part is he works there, but it was his day off, and he was just hanging out there.

Any way, I see people bring stuff into gamestop and get offered little to nothing for the games, and the people get depressed, but sell it anyway. IF YOU DON'T WANNA SELL THE STUFF FOR PENNIES, DON'T! You have no obligation to sell the stuff to them once they give you the humiliating price.

I try and make offers with people that bring stuff in there, and offer them a little more. And Cash.

I agree on the newer used games being over priced.... however it needs to be mentioned they are GREAT for older used games. Where else could I go in and pick up sports games that are a couple years old for practically pocket change? Not all of us are in there looking for games that just came out.

  8. I think its bad for the Consumer because they take any game thats popular (which of course they call Rare) and Price it anywhere from 35.00 to 50.00

One day just to see how mucht they rip of on trade values i took marvel vs capcom 2 there for ps2 which they sell for 59.99

when i brought it to see how much credit they said 14.00 credit that is less than 25% credit to what they sell for cash.

Gamecrazy on the other hand is more fair in a way that they sell there games and mark at prices do to age and not rarity.

Take for examplete fatal frame for ps2 is 8.99 at gamecrazy and 44.99 at gamestop. now it may be harder to get the rare games because they sell quicker. its good to know u can find great games for cheap while gamestop marks everything higher than ebay pricing.

  9. At my local wal mart they had brand new twilight princess for 20.00 for the cube

all there 50.00 games were marked at 20.00 as they were making room for

    360

    wii

    and ps3

I also picked up fatal frame 3 for ps2 new for 20.00 there

i hear thats hard to come by

    No PS3 deals?

Not that I saw, although I wasn't looking for PS3 stuff since I don't own one yet. Mostly what I saw were some odds-and-ends Xbox 360 stuff (which my local Wal-Mart seems to always have too many of anyway) and those Wii and DS Holiday Bundles.

For the Nintendo stuff, you can check out BD&A Gamer. They're the ones that put the stuff out: www.bdagamer.com

Sometimes the Wal-Mart around here goes nuts on clearance prices. It seldom happens, but when it does, they offer good deals. Four years ago, I picked up four TI-89 calculators for $25 a pop once. One for myself, the three to resale. I only sold one though. I still have the other two. They've been opened, but only because the calculators were taken out of the plastic and kept in back of the store in the stock room. And many's the time I've gone in and picked up old strategy guides for games a year or two old for $0.50 to $2.00.
