No need to apologize. I was pretty sure it was meant in jest, but you never know on the internet. Anytime you show off a collection, no matter how exhaustively complete it is, there will always be one guy who tries to remind you what you're missing. Thus my "Thanks for being that guy, without actually being that guy." 😇 Thanks for the info on the Nuon port. I had no idea that existed, and I've thought about branching out to unofficial ports like Dramcast Doom.

Thanks for being that guy, without actually being that guy. (Is there really a Nuon port?) 🤣

Yep, that's just the stock Doom 2016 on PS4, with the cover reversed. I vastly prefer this art over the generic stock cover art. I don't know if I have one single favorite. SNES Doom is the first one I played. It's a technical marvel, and is the most faithful of the early ports in terms of level design, and in enemies and items included. People tend to hate on it, and I love to root for the underdog, so I give that one bonus points. I've also spent a ton of time with JagDoom. It was the first one I owned, and I scoured every level for hours. I. Cannot. Wait. for this Slayer Edition. Right now I'm loving the PS4 ports. They run silky-smooth (though they had a lot of issues before they got some updates, I'm told). And I'm hooked on Eternal. It's super tough, but fun as hell. Also, Marathon is fantastic. For such an early FPS, it was really innovative and had an intricate story with highly complex characters. The entire trilogy is also free to play on PC via AlephOne (google it). Seriously...if you enjoy early FPSes, Marathon is like the hidden gem you need in your life. If you didn't know, it's the trilogy Bungie made right before Halo, and the two franchises share some DNA. But Marathon is better. 😆 Sorry for writing a book.

I mean I'm okay with Doom. It's not Marathon, but it's alright. 🤣

Awesome. Thanks!

You can swap it in and out. You won't lose any content if you play it - when you exit to the menu screen, you can easily turn Double Impact off and play Doom II, or No Reat for the Living.

K, so I have a serious question for those of you working on this, since you probably know the game inside and out. I used to play Jag Doom religiously. For whatever reason, this version lets the rocket launcher's area of effect damage enemies through the walls. There's a part of the Containment Area, map 10 in the Jag port, where you can shoot the rockets at the wall and hear demons being hit on the other side of the wall...but there isn't anything on the other side, at least, not that you can access in Jag Doom. I'm assuming the demons are the Lost Souls in the secret room off of the hallway with the crushing ceilings, all of which was in the PC version but is not accessible in the Jag port. Is this correct? And can you programming wizards find a way to access that room in the Jag port? Are there other areas in Jag Doom that were cut off from the accessible map, but not removed entirely? The photo I've attached shows the area where you need to fire the rockets (marked with a big yellow arrow).

Lynx High Score Club 2020 - S.T.U.N. Runner
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
328,550 Sheesh, I didn't even have time to finish my game because the wife was calling me for dinner. Flashbacks to 30 years ago. 🤣 Uploading now because who knows if I'll have time for another try? -
The real question is what will the box look like? And will it come with overlays? And a comic?

ST ports Season 3 finale now available for pre-order

Games can wait. Stay healthy, Gaz! -
They put a slider bar in that game for music, when the only music it has is on the menu screen? Seems like it would have been less work to just make some more music.

I like the new site. And I do remember the old logo...it can't be THAT old...can it? I grabbed one of your copies of Othello. I can't imagine those will stick around too long. Thanks!

Green Bay, WI, USA here. I'd love to make it to Too Many Games one of these years, but for now it's not in the cards.

I should really go back and do better rips of Blue Lightning and Super Asteroids & Missile Command. When I made all these rips around 2004, I didn't have those two carts and had to rip via emulation. And we all know how awful the Handy music sounds. Unfortunately, now I have two kids and a demanding job. I can't imagine when I'll have time to get back into BGM ripping.

That would be awesome if you could re-upload them here. Somebody PMed me back in January asking for them, and I totally forgot about that until now.

No Pac-Man ghosts, whatever those are. No Angel of Death. There are six episodes in Jag Wolf3D, if I recall correctly. But some of them only have 3 floors. I don't know if any of the Jag levels came from Nocturnal Missions. The Ubermutant is in the Jag version. If it would help, I could post some photos of the Jaguar strategy guide that has Wolfenstein 3D maps. Maybe you could use those to determine whether any levels from the nocturnal missions made it into Jaguar Wolf3D. I believe the bosses in the Jag version are: Hans Grosse Trans Grosse Ubermutant Some doctor that throws knives at you Death Knight Mecha Hitler/Hitler

Lynx High Score Club Record Breaker Thread
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
I don't see why 1-up farming shouldn't be allowed. It's programmed into the game, and it's available to everybody. The bigger challenge is getting that far in such a brutally hard game (and huge kudos to you, jeremiahjt, for doing so). I know roadrunner has already chosen to accept the score. I'm only posting this because it reminds me of rule #7 in the HSC Rules thread (no exploiting bugs), and my disagreement with it. In my mind, a competition should be based on the default software, as-is. If a game permits you to perform a given technique, whether or not the developer intended it, I feel it should be allowed in a high score competition. A skilled, experienced player will generally know a game better than a new player, and that might include knowing tricks to maximize one's score. Speedrun records generally allow all sorts of exploits as long as the player is using the original software with no emulation tools. I find it weird that emulation is allowed in our HSC, but not bugs and exploits. That said, I have no problem playing by the rules, as this is not my competition or my thread. I would just choose to do things a little differently if it was up to me. -
We could organize one at the Midwest Gaming Classic in April. There are a decent number of people from this forum who go there. Although I could only promise an hour or so, as I have friends coming from far away to visit.

I would argue it's neither up, nor coming. My vote is for the N64. Contrary to what a few people have said here, I think it's generally a highly loved console. The N64 collecting scene has been crazy for a few years now, as those who first got into gaming through their N64 just recently (as in the past 5ish years) reached the age where they have disposable income. People rave about it...and those people always seem to have limited knowledge of other consoles or of the hardcore gaming scene in general. But about the machine itself: its games have aged terribly, with blurry visuals, bland worlds, and low framerates. I thought the games were overrated then, and I still have a hard time getting into them now. It took me 4 or 5 attempts to finally play through Ocarina of Time, and I still can't get into Mario 64. Those games frequently pop up at the top of Best-Games-Ever lists, but they're nowhere near as polished and perfected as their 16-bit predecessors. And that controller...why have a controller that always has buttons you can't reach without repositioning your hands? It's a three-pronged controller made for people with two hands. To be fair, I was a huge Jaguar fanboy when the N64 came out, and I resented the N64 from the start due to its claim as "The first true 64-bit console."

Jag CD Unreleased games help! American Hero and Caves of fear!
PFG 9000 replied to PikoInteractive's topic in Atari Jaguar
You can find American Hero if you look hard enough on the interwebs. Eventually I found a torrent of info on it. Dunno about Caves of Fear, but I'd guess it's the same for that one. -
Lynx High Score Club Record Breaker Thread
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
Wow, this is really hard! Appropriately so, given the three months we have, but still. It's a pretty clever challenge, and as a bonus it might get me to try all sorts of stuff I haven't spent much time with before. So far I've been working on three or four different games, and I haven't come close to a high score on any of them...even some of my own records.
