Lynx High Score Club 2019 Round 7 - Blockout
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
39,111 I outdid my last score and would like to play some more, but I don't know if I'll have time in the few hours left. -
What NES Game(In your opinion) Has the Best Theme Song?
PFG 9000 replied to bluejay's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yeah, the awkward wording of the first post makes it unclear what exactly we're talking about here. I'm going to assume the TC was looking for any game music, not just a game's "theme song" if that's a thing. Maniac Mansion had some great music for its time, with a strong Rock soundtrack. Where many games from that era had music that played in 45 second loops, Maniac Mansion's songs were 3 minute loops. And really good too. Dave's Theme is my favorite. Double Dragon also had some good stuff. Yeah, it was adapted from the arcade original, but those NES guitar riffs got stuck in the head easily. -
Lynx High Score Club 2019 Round 7 - Blockout
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
20,959 I've only tried Blockout once before, and I just thought it was a slow, 3D version of Tetris. Which is pretty accurate, but it's much more fun than I remember. -
I missed this topic the first time and had never heard of Mystik Belle until two days ago, when I saw the Limited Run listing. I'm going to order it for PS4 once it's posted, as it looks like it has beautiful pixel art. But a Jag port would be really cool, a day-one purchase for me for certain. But after two years with no updates in this thread, I won't get my hopes up.

A port of Zero Tolerance would sell at least as well as titles like Switchblade or Custodian. I would hope we all know you can't take a handful of negative comments as representative of the whole group, especially among a fanbase known for its toxicity.

It is solid. The wall climbing segments are a little tedious, but I still enjoy booting up Dracula on occasion. It's a shame so much was cut - I wish we could see some of the scenes that were finished.

I'm totally jealous. If the AtariAge store ever came to the Midwest Gaming Classic here in Wisconsin, my wallet wouldn't survive.

Lynx High Score Club 2019 Round 6 - Ms Pac Man
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
Years ago as a young adult, I met some friends at the airport where we waited for our plane to take us to Las Vegas on vacation. The airport had a Ms. Pacman cab, so naturally I challenged the guys to a competition - worst score buys the first round. I got trounced, and my friends weren't even big into retro gaming. I really think I'm just not meant to be good at Ms. Pacman. 🤣 -
Lynx High Score Club 2019 Round 6 - Ms Pac Man
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
45,500 It doesn't change my position in the current standings, but I'm posting it here anyway. I've been "working" hard at this one and it's becoming clear to me that I'm just not meant to be much better at Ms. Pacman. -
doubledown's Jaguar Edition - VVG Enhanced Controller - (Arcade Stick)
PFG 9000 replied to doubledown's topic in Atari Jaguar
Awesome. I'd love to play Jag Raiden with that thing. -
Anyone collect JUST for Jaguar? Or it's your main focus?
PFG 9000 replied to Rick Dangerous's topic in Atari Jaguar
The Jaguar and Lynx are the only platforms I have complete collections for. I have no desire to have complete libraries for anything else. But I do have a decent game collection including tons of non-Atari stuff. I generally like to focus on game series, like Castlevania, Doom, Zelda, etc. -
What a cool idea! Nice work. Now to find somebody else who will play it with me...

Lynx High Score Club 2019 Round 6 - Ms Pac Man

38,350 That high score of 63,000 is awesome. I can't see myself getting much better than this 38k on a really good day. -
I saw the post on this in the Lynx Fans Facebook group, and watched the video posted there. Really amazing work, whoever did this. I can't imagine what kind of work went into this, but I can't wait to try it out!

Lawnmower by OCEO - Silly Venture 2019 entry for Atari Lynx Game Compo
PFG 9000 replied to Nop90's topic in Atari Lynx
I stumbled across a video of this on YouTube today, and it looks fantastic. I can't wait to try it out! -
That's awesome. I would have gone if I would have been aware of it at the time. I didn't find out about JagFest until a few years later when it morphed into the Midwest Gaminc Classic, and I've gone every year since then (maybe 2005ish?). It's crazy to think what a massive event started out as a small group of dedicated Jaguar fans. It's also sad to see what little representation the Jag has there today.

If you could provide a link to the auction, we could give you a better answer. But it's probably a reproduction (pirate copy) cart.

I was wondering what the "Boomstick" option on the new cheats screen would do. Really incredible stuff here. As amazing as Heretic would be on the Jag, I cringe to think what would happen with it when the JSIII crew gets ahold of it. You know, since they've had a working version for years now. *gags*

Awesome! Day one pickups for me. Thanks for continuing to dedicate your time to the Lynx after all these years, Carl.

Atari Lynx High Score Club 2019 Round 4 - Joust
PFG 9000 replied to roadrunner's topic in Lynx High Score Club
90,450 I forgot how addicting this game is. -
Does it have anything to do with the Pacman-looking guy on the back of the Loopz box?
-
This has me so curious. I'm just in the middle of a long hectic stretch of life and haven't been able to check mine.
-
To be fair, the Jag Game Drive is now a proper Jaguar project. It was missing the typical Jaguar sabotage and drama til now. 🤣

Crap, I missed the deadline and didn't get to vote. I wish the deadline had been a little more clear from the beginning. I struggled to get a number of the games to work initially, and still haven't been able to get 4TTUDE and Nutmeg to work. Everything else worked for me eventually. I struggled to rank these games because it seemed the battleground was uneven. How do you weigh an ambitious, groundbreaking, but unfinished game against a smaller, simple, yet complete game? Do you dock points against a game for being unfinished, or do you praise it for lofty ambitions? As somebody mentioned previously, it would help to rate the unfinished games against each other, and to have a separate competition for the finished games. In the end, I found Lynx Quest, On Duty, Growing Ties, Assembloids, and YNXA to stand out from the others, but all for different reasons. Lynx Quest has probably the best pixel art I've seen in an actual game on the Lynx. On Duty seems like a wonderful, varied, ambitious title offering many hours of entertainment. Growing Ties looks really basic, but it has that addicting mechanic and just enough polish to make it stand out. The same goes for Assembloids. YNXA seems like the Metroidvania-lite that we never got on the Lynx, again with good potential for hours of fun. All of these titles were really impressive though. I have a great deal of respect for everyone who invested time and labor into these wonderful projects.
