  1. The label and reflection might look strange depending on the background color. 8x20 The difference between glass and plastic is one pixel!
  2. Your artistry astounds me. Brilliant... absolutely brilliant! I really don't know where you get your drive, but gosh, I wish I had some. Cheers!
  3. Looks better than Mario to me. Then again... who AM I? Does my opinion really matter? No, not really. But still... looks groovy!
  4. If the Wii can connect to the DS, wouldn't it be ultra-cool if all the retrogame downloads could be uploaded to the DS? It might call for some emulation, but I think it would be cool. (or maybe this is something already in effect that I didn't know about. I get most/all of my information here at AA.)
  5. Besides saying your game shows promise, I should have said that it is already a lot of fun to play - even with the glitches. I always get more excited in the latter stages of a game's development when a game author is polishing up the little bits. Congratulations! There are a ton of us who would love to be able to say we programmed a FUN Atari game.
  6. Hmm, maybe I should shut up, but the version before was much more playable - mosquito or not. Have a good break. I appreciate how much work goes into building a game. Your game shows a LOT of promise.
  7. Yeah turkey is the best! What do you mean!? Turkey offers nothing in terms of flavor or nourishment! You must be some sort of turkey fanboy! Tuna is the way to go!... and don't label me as some sort of tuna fanboy, because I own several cans of chicken and I've been eating beef for years! Hell, I even dug out some turkey one night, just because I felt like something bland... It most certainly IS NOT the best! Besides, the line at Subway to try their new turkey melt was so friggin' long, I got pissed and walked a block to the Burger King and got me a Whopper! That's not to say I won't try or even buy Subway's turkey melts in the future, but can you believe the nerve of those people? Take this with a grain of salt... it wasn't actually directed at Sega Saturn X, or anyone else here for that matter. It seems silly, to me, to argue over something that is clearly a matter of opinion and/or taste. Fanboy or not... I still prefer Oatmeal Raisin over any other cookie! That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
  8. Kick Man? http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=&game_id=8298
  9. I'd heard that before, but I always thought it was a rumor. Wikipedia has a picture of the dog after he has been shot: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_Hunt Looks kinda like the "black-face" that used to be popular in Tom & Jerry and Bugs Bunny cartoons before everyone decided to be politically correct. He also has crutches and a cast on his left leg.
  10. Hmm, out of curiosity, I dug out a DK cartridge and tried this out (I almost always use a Genesis arcade joystick with my VCS). Nothing strange happened as far as I can tell. Maybe your DK cartridge has issues?
  11. I like the new changes to the playfield. The jumpguy still acts a little weird if you hold the jump button though. Hopefully that can be ironed out? It makes it a bit too easy to get to the top of the screen and the effect is a bit like watching a mosquito on speed. (That would be the mosquito on speed, not taking speed and watching a mosquito.)
  12. I voted for Dropzone as well. I think it is a nice variant of Defender and I'd like to see what a programmer could do with it today. (Look at what Alex Herbert did with Protector!) The only other two on the list that I can remember playing are Jet Set Willy and Impossible Mission. I don't really care much for either of those games. This is probably stretching it a bit, but I'd like to see someone attempt a port of Mayhem in Monsterland.
  13. The Wii, and (I know I'm a bit late here) the DS have me watching the modern gaming scene once again. I never thought such a thing could/would ever happen, but I'm becoming interested. In recent years, the modern gaming industry has been almost exclusively focused on graphics. I'm aware that there are still fun and playable games being released all the time; All the same, we are also flooded with boring games / rehashed games made with a template of another stupid FPS, drop-down puzzle, or platform game that I didn't like the first time! In the past I've jumped and been burnt time and time again... I'd shut out modern gaming almost completely till I nabbed up a Dreamcast (for cheap). I was only interested in emulation at the time, so the innovation on the console was an accidental discovery on my part. There are some wonderfully innovative games on the Dreamcast! Sadly, the crap games on the platform still outweigh the good. To grab this gamer's attention, you have to innovate! At this time, I have no interest in the Wii's competition. I'm not a fanboy. I don't own a DS, a Gamecube, or even an N-64! Still, Nintendo has caught my attention and made me interested in the modern gaming scene again... I just hope it sticks and they deliver.
  14. http://www.brokenfunction.com/content/ Cool!
  15. I don't think Umihara Kawase was ever released for the PC.
  16. Hoping to get some sort of inspiration for a label design, I sat down and redrew each of the invaders as I think they might look in some sort of alien cartoon world. I'm still stumped as far as a design goes, but I thought I'd share my drawings.
  17. I think this is what you are looking for: http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=...roducts_id=1099 //Edit// It appears that Lik-Sang is out of stock. Here is another link: http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-w-49-en-70-uj.html There is also a DC-X torrent floating around in cyberspace at the moment... that is, if you aren't opposed to that sort of thing. There is no need to mod your system to play copies either. The Dreamcast's protection is pretty easily worked around. All you will need is a bootdisc or to burn the games as self-boot discs. (Heads up: not all burners will burn a self-booting, 2-session disc)
  18. I thought I would mention that this is cross-posted at Digital Press. This way, anyone interested can get whatever information pops up.
  19. I believe Andrew Davie (a member and moderator here at Atariage) programmed the game. He would probably have more information for you about the game itself. link link link Atariage member, theredeye, might be able to help if you wanted the ROMs dumped. Tempest, another Atariage moderator, is also a good prototype guy to go to, although I don't think he usually deals much with NES stuff... then, I've been wrong before. --- Just found this in the old Stella BigList Archives: Interesting find, for sure! I just hope Andrew peeks in to say hello.
  20. Wow, that's kind of funny. I'd never tried that before, I should be able to fix that too. I think it would probably be fixed if you had to press the jump button every time you intend to jump - rather than having the character jump when the jump button is pressed and he is colliding with the background. (at least that is what appears to be happening). Although, I was able to pass a lot of stages fairly quickly this way. I've been watching this one closely. Great work!
  21. At the start of the game, hold the jump button down. Then press left and right... randomly while still holding the button. Who needs ladders? (or platforms for that matter)
  22. Luckily, we we have a little thing called emulation. Try the game on your PC, then decide whether you enjoy it enough to seek it out and make a purchase. A game is only worth what you're willing to pay for it. Don't seek out a game solely based on what some webpage on the internet says it is worth. Buy a game because you enjoy it. On the other hand, if you are a real completist and must have every friggin' game in existence, then you are too crazy to be worrying about how much it is going to cost you to do so. I don't think they'll let you take your game consoles with you to the asylum anyways.
  23. Congratulations to Shirleyswapshop for picking up the rest for resale on eBay. YAY!
  24. What about Anteater? I've seen screenshots... apparently the ROM is dumped, but I haven't ever seen it available. [edit] The ROM is unavailable due to copyrights. I should have looked that up before, I know, but I'm ignorant.
