  1. I played it a little more tonight. I actually dig the way Pole Position plays with the twist control. :) I played Xevious and Bosconian seem to play nicely as well. It's too bad that Galaga and Ms Pacman seem off.

Anyways, I've decided to go pick up a couple more tomorrow for gifts. My neice's birthday is next week and she is into the classic games. :)

  2. I went by the toy isle to see if the price of the FB2 had gone down and found the wireless Ms Pacman units have gone down to $4.88. The batteries cost more than the system. Oddly, the wired systems were 15 bucks more! :? Maybe it's because of the cartridge feature?

I'd thought about picking up a few of them (for gifts), but after playing it a bit I think I'll hold off. The joystick feels decent, but often Ms Pacman will miss a corner or go the wrong way altogether. Also she seems to snag on the corners... just odd. I couldn't get Pole Position to steer, but then I didn't realize till now that there was a twist control on the controller. I'll have to give it another go. I only played it for a moment, but Galaga seems a bit slow. Mappy seems to play the best of those I've tried so far. Still, I can't complain too loud over a 5 dollar purchase.

  3. hey, I go to a forum site that has a chat page, in which people can go in and well... chat. Is there a possible way that one can exist here?

Some have expressed the interest here before. I think the general consensus is that chatrooms tend to be have less meaningful conversations. Also, some good information might be shared realtime, but there is no record of it when the chat client is closed.

Of course, no one is stopping you from starting an IRC channel and posting an invitation here in the forums. I'd probably check it out.

  4. That's cool.  I guess I was being kind of petty anyways.  I cringe when I see topics from at least one or two people.  I suppose I just need to practice self control and not click in!   :P

 That's what beer is for.

  5. I've found Stelladapter to be worth every penny that I paid for it. Most of the emulators I use recognized the joystick and responded to input immediately. After tinkering a bit with some configuration options in MAME, I was able to get my Atari paddles working with Arkanoid and other games that use a knob. I bought the Atari - 80 Classic Games and downloaded the Stelladapter patch so that I can use the driving controller to play Tempest.

I would assume that the joystick you linked to would work with all of the emulators you mentioned.

I bought a couple of USB Atari Joystick look-alikes a while back and found them to be pretty shoddy. The sheath was more of a plastic than rubber; after playing Gridrunner a few minutes, one came unattached and was nearly impossible to replace. :P Also, for some reason, the button was mapped to button 2 which made extra configuration necessary for some emulators. :P

  6. Konami should have just released the first Goonies game for the NES in America and scrap Goonies II.

Definitely! I don't like the weird first person type mazes in Goonies II. In fact, I almost didn't give Goonies a chance because at first it looked so similar to the version I'd played growing up. :P I have Goonies on two or three of my multicarts; I'm content to never buy a copy of Goonies II.

  7. Hey, I typed "silly" into Google Images, and I found this little ugly dude eating a popsicle!  HAHA!  So I colored him.  :D

If I pay you $190, can you give it to me, then replace that image with a "Do Not Copy" watermark? First, though, I need proof that it is digitally colored - you know, regular coloring just isn't as prestigious. ;)

  8. I used to dislike Adventure. I didn't understand what the hype over it was. When Nukey started hacking and adding on to it, I gave it a second chance and realized how great of a game it really is.

Anyways, sku_u and CPUWIZ have given the advice I would give. Try a few games out in emulation to find which ones you like and want to purchase. Then go to the marketplace, here at Atariage, and post a want list. Then there is eBay, but I would definitely seek out your wants here first; There's too many ripoff artists on eBay. :P
