Wish there was a better feedback thread!
uosipa llamxew replied to diggs130's topic in Site and Forum Feedback
Some offenders (such as myself... *sniff* I feel so dirty.) have had editing rights taken away. I have a list of 7 or 8 names to give feedback to, but I can't edit my post. It might be cool to have some sort of feedback system that called for both parties of a transaction/trade to login and confirm when they've agreed to trade. Then when the transaction is complete, feedback could be left. Even cooler... the feedback ratio could be listed underneath a persons handle or avatar with a link to show any comments or responses. //Edit Heh, yah, I realize the irony of me editing this post. -
Should be somewhere on Alberts computer You need to contact Albert and tell him you want to be on the list. Krokodile Cartridge thread.

Krokodile Cartridge thread. Most VCS ROMs can be played on the Krokodile Cartridge. Others have been hacked/converted to play. Supercharger games will not play on the unit. I suspect there is quite a demand for these, so I'd suggest you get your name on the list if you want one. It may be a while till yours is built. Still, I'll sell mine for $1,000,000. I hope Trench reads this.

I thought LoopyNES would do that? Seems like forever ago, doesn't it?
-
I believe it is quite dead. I don't remember all the details, but it was quite a major controversy back then. Some guy named Mindrape stole the source and distributed it. Sardu was pissed... and I think he only released one more version after that.

I could learn a lot from Nathan. I would not have believed that the top down sprite could have come out so clean and crisp! The demo was thrown together with The Games Factory - a game creation program similar to Gamemaker. I don't know a line of code, so it's the only thing I use to make games and programs. I didn't expect that you'd be able to implement all those things; I just got a little carried away after I inserted the sprite and started playing. Cheers!

Added 4 more frames for a total of 16 directions. I can't tell if it looks better or not, I've been staring at it so long. Now I'm seeing spinning cars on my walls. Also, here is a demo to show how it might look during gamplay... I'm such a dork, I even implemented flicker. buggy.zip

Added some rotation. There's still some jump... maybe I'll mess with it more later. If they aren't used in this project, perhaps someone would be interested in attempting a City Connect/CarVup type of game?
-
I tinkered a bit with a 16x16 sprite. Unfortunately, I'm not a very good pixel artist, so I didn't bother to rotate the thing. I wondered if there might be a way to make the bug more recognizable. Instead of drawing the car from directly overhead, I drew up a couple of sprites showing a sideview of the car, the front, and the back. The sideview isn't great, but it might look a little better stretched - if that is even possible to do while keeping the other angles at their regular size? Maybe the different view would make the 8x8 sprite easier to work with? I might give it a shot later. Anyways, I'll throw this here for kicks. Yesterday I opened Hack-O-Matic and pasted my first set of sprites into the game. The result is laughable; It looks more like a bell than a car. (I hope you don't mind that I posted this. If you'd like me to remove it, let me know and I'll take it down pronto). hacked

I believe there was even a port or two for the Gameboy(?) If you haven't seen it, I think Squashed may be the last of the Ninja Kun series, but I hope to be proven wrong. It plays quite a bit differently, but it's still quite fun.

I love the games, although I think some are turned off by the jumpy scroll movement. I found them on a couple of my Famicom multicarts and have been a fan ever since. I was so obsessed, I kept this as my avatar longer than any other I've had.

Oops, I must've posted the wrong pic!

Hope this helps: [edit] Oops, too late!

From The Arcade History Database:

Your rotation is smooth! I was going to put my graphics into the ROM to see how it looked when I realized my first rotation didn't have enough frames. I added more in and sped up my animation to see if that helped much. It still looks like it's jerking back and forth a bit - not unlike static on a television set.
-
Here's how the rotation ended up. I'm sure that Nathan could do much better. BTW, the game looks awesome! I'll be watching this one closely.
-
Out of curiousity, I opened up Paintshop Pro to see what I could do with the 8x8 restriction. This is the best I could muster. My attempts at rotating the graphic were even worse! 8x8 is pretty restrictive for a rotating graphic. Increasing the size would definitely allow for something much nicer. The bug in the arcade was rather large on screen, wasn't it?

Game Systems you wanted but didn't get
uosipa llamxew replied to Gabriel's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Oh yeah, I forgot about that. I would love to have a Famicom Disk System. Although, I guess this "want" has come in more recent years. -
I'm not a huge lynx fan, so I don't follow this stuff that closely... I didn't even check to see if Atariage posted the bios. Yeah, that should be it.

Naw, you're only human. To be honest I skimmed the thread and thought the same thing at first; It seemed so odd, I went back and reread the first post.

I was just little when our VCS got most of its lovin'. We only had 4 channels on the television and I couldn't read, so I didn't see many commercials or read any advertisements. I only remember one commercial I saw back then. There were a couple of kids playing an atari game when light flashes from the television and they are sucked into the screen. Inside the television, they ride around on a magic carpet (still controlled by an Atari joystick). I don't remember if they showed any of the game's enemies nor do I remember seeing any graphics for the game. The commercial inspired quite a few dreams in my young mind; I would love to know, find, and have whatever game it was advertising.

Game Systems you wanted but didn't get
uosipa llamxew replied to Gabriel's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I wanted a Sega Master System terribly when I was a kid. My older brother owned all of the video games in the house and I wanted something for myself. I spent many hours gazing into the Sears Wishbook that year, circled the games I wanted most, and even calculated the price to make it easier for those with the funds. I must've been bad boy that year because Santa didn't come through for me. I never played a Sega Master System until a year or two ago when I bought one from someone here at Atariage. I wanted a NeoGeo pretty badly at one time. I entered a puzzle/contest that was amidst the ads of many game magazines; The prize for the winner was one of every current console (including the NeoGeo) as well as a huge television to play them on. The entry fee was 10 dollars and they would send you a puzzle each month. Upon completion of each puzzle, you had to mail it back in with another 10 dollars to stay in the drawing. The puzzles started out fairly easy, further enhancing the delusion that I had any chance of winning. Over time, the puzzles became more and more difficult. Finally, several months later and about 120 dollars in, my last puzzle came which I can only fathom was impossible. It frustrated me to the point of tears... 120 bucks is a lot of money for an 12-yr-old; I could have bought 2 or 3 Nintendo games instead! My mother had told me all along that I was being taken for a ride, but I hadn't listened. I suppose it was a lesson I had to learn some time. I've still never played a NeoGeo, except at the arcade. //off topic for a second// The bit about the contest in the magazines reminded me of this: If anyone has their old Gamepro magazines, there is a page in the November '91 issue that I'd like to have a scan of. Thanks! -
You mentioned a "fake images" message, so I'm assuming that you are trying to run the emulator with the included lynxboot.img. You'll need to find a real lynxboot.img on the internet and replace the one that came bundled with the emulator if you want to play commercial ROMs. I hope this helps.
