Nintendo Still Sells the Dog Bone Controller
uosipa llamxew replied to SpendTooMuchOnAtari's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I've seen those too, but always thought they were faked. I had no idea that Nintendo still sold these in their store... and here a year or so ago, I searched for my dogbone controllers and paid too much for them used. :-P -
The first time I played it was on a PC shareware disc many many years ago. I think that the name on it was called Brix II or something. It had funky music, and the game had an evil sadistic laugh when you died. Like SS said, the arcade version is pretty interesting. It's nice to be rewarded for completing a hard puzzle now and then. :-) I have a complete NES copy. It's a great game worthy of being in any puzzle fan's collection.

First copy of ColecoVision Sky Jaguar on eBay now...
uosipa llamxew replied to opcode's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
*sniff* LOL I don't usually check the classic gaming forum. I checked Opcode's webpage, and didn't see it there, but didn't think to do a search here. I just got my first Colecovision a week or two ago... so I'm not really up to date with the scene. Okay okay... poor excuses... I admit it - I'm a moron! Thanks for the links. The snapshots look fantastic! :-) I still need to get the Space Invaders Collection first though. -
Interesting screenshot from Unity (GCN)

I didn't think I'd ever buy one of these newfangled nextgen systems, but this game just might push me over that edge. The trippy colors and graphics are pulling me to the dark side.... AAAAA! -
Tom mentioned once that he was looking into the prospects of writing a Lightgun game. As far as I know, he never announced whether or not he had started such a project. Last I read, he had been feeling sick, but that was nearly a month ago. http://members.vantage.ch/killer/

Where can I find screenshots/reviews of this? The packaging looks really nice! :-) -
Custer's Revenge 2: Return of General Custer!
uosipa llamxew replied to LesserRaven's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
Reptone said: I use z26. It seems to be the most updated, and runs quite nicely on my machine. (PII-400 XP) For your window-close problem, open up a Command Prompt, and run the emulator from the command line. If there is an error, it will stay on the screen and you'll have some idea of what you are doing wrong. On some emulators, you can drag the rom over the emulator .exe and skip the dos box altogether. Also be sure to check the readme.txt. -
Plus, the titlescreen says "AtariAge presents Climber 5".

Atari 2600 Jr. Pacman maybe factory sealed - have a ?
uosipa llamxew replied to slayer123's topic in Atari 2600
Yup. I sure wish that I knew about O'Shea when the cartridges were at .80 cents or whatever it was. I'd have done the same thing! -
This game is superb! :-) The different variations really add to the replay value of the game. The title screen logo and colors look much better since the last version I tested. Bravo! If you are considering suggestions for sound, I had a couple of ideas. Had you thought about using some sort of ditty for the walking effect? I always liked the way that DigDug music began and seized as you controlled the character. Also, I was thinking that you might shorten the death sequence/music... or maybe just speed it up a little bit. I find myself getting just a bit impatient to get back into the game! Great job on this one. I can't wait to see this game finished!

@CPUWIZ: I'm continually impressed with your reproductions. I'm curious if you will ever open up a website and put some of these things up for sale? Nice job! :-)

Atari 2600 Jr. Pacman maybe factory sealed - have a ?
uosipa llamxew replied to slayer123's topic in Atari 2600
There were a ton of sealed Jr-Pacman carts going on eBay not too long ago. I think they were probably bought cheap from O'Shea in bulk and resold with a nice markup. Anyways, I wouldn't doubt if your sealed copy is legit. However, how will you ever enjoy this spectacular game if you don't open the box and insert that cartridge in your VCS console? -
Anyone have an NES toploader for sale?? GOT ONE :)
uosipa llamxew replied to BTHOTU's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I've always thought the older style NES's were extremely cool looking. I have three of them (one boxed). I bought my boxed top-loader because they are so much more reliable than the older model... but I think the newer design is quite ugly. :-P The dogbone controllers are neat though. :-) -
There is a ROM floating about the internet, but if I remember correctly, it only played one level. Maybe one day someone will release a full version.
-
I've been following this one on the Biglist board. :-) The game is continually getting better. I know that many were pushing for you to increase the gravity from older releases, but now it seems just a tad too strong. I haven't played it on a real console, but it feels like I'm going to crack my keyboard jamming on the flap button so fast. I really like the breakout/warlords style wall. I can't wait to see a release with the Pterry. :-)

Dont put gemstik joysticks in the dishwasher!
uosipa llamxew replied to taylorcomm's topic in Atari 2600
Aha! I found that old thread: http://www.atariage.com/forums/viewtopic.p...wash+dishwasher And, of course, this was my contribution. I think my dishwasher was broken at the time. :-) Darn these dishpan [email protected]! One drunken night several years ago, I spilled a beer all over my keyboard while I was chatting in IRC. The next morning I found that the only key that remained functional was the "E" key. While it is true, "E" is one of the most commonly used letters in the alphabet, it is difficult to express oneself, much less surf the internet, with the "E" key alone. So, I made a quick trip to the Office Depot, and bought myself a Microsoft Natural keyboard and a nice rubber spill cover to prevent such future mishappenings. Additionally, the spill cover keeps the keys from clicking while I type. I hate using other peoples' keyboards! I love my spill cover. I named him Ed. -
Blackjack!?!?!?!?! For reals?! Circus Atari is the best. It's fun to bounce yer clowns... but then it's equally fun to miss 'em because then they go kasplatter! HAHAHAHAHHA! Someone should suggest these paddle games to my old elementary school principal. Something to divert the attention away from his sadistic schemes!

Dont put gemstik joysticks in the dishwasher!
uosipa llamxew replied to taylorcomm's topic in Atari 2600
I have read that you can put some consoles through the dishwasher without ruining them. Personally, I would fear the risk of corrosion and damage to electrical components. I imagine there are quite a lot of things that you would not want to put in the dishwasher. Small children and pets come to mind. Come to think of it, it is called a dishwasher. Perhaps it's not just a catchy name... At any rate, I don't think that a lawsuit against Maytag is your best route. I'm delirious... don't listen to me. I'm flu-ish and on large doses of Sudafed and Theraflu. -
You might want to run a search for files on your computer matching *.pcx to find out what folder z26 is dumping to. Before I reinstalled, z26 would dump the snapshots to my route folder C: . I don't know if there is a configuration file or something in the registry that determines where z26 dumps the snapshots. Reinstalling seemed to remedy the problem in my case.

Assuming "indy500.bin" is the name of your ROM, type this on the command line: z26 indy500 -w1 the "-w1" makes the keyboard and mouse emulate the driving controller. Hope that helps.

Indy 500 XE Track Design Contest - Winners Announced!

I hadn't been trying the different game modes. Too fun! Here I made a 1-player AtariAge tag race. My best score on it so far is 16. :-) -
Indy 500 XE Track Design Contest - Winners Announced!
uosipa llamxew replied to Albert's topic in AtariAge Sponsored Contests
Is there any way to set where the starting line goes? I made about 20 tracks with an earlier version of the track editor. Unfortunately, some of them don't seem to be worthwhile, as no starting line shows up. -
"Dogbone" NES controllers
uosipa llamxew replied to KaineMaxwell's topic in Classic Console Discussion
The dogbone controllers have a very nice feel to them, although they seem really small in my hands compared to other controllers. Since I got my top-loading NES a few months ago, I haven't really bothered with any of the other controllers. In my house, the only time that the NES MAX got used was when I had friends over and the 4-score out to play Kings of the Beach or Super Offroad. Even then, the only reason it was used is because it was just slightly better than the NES Advantage, and we had no other extra controllers. Like Inky mentioned, the sliding disc doesn't trigger control, rather the black d-pad underneath it. The control always seemed more awkward - like I had to push down on the disc a bit harder to get the d-pad to depress. And you DO get better control if you press on the black ring instead of the disc. :-P IMO, some of the worst controllers ever made were for the NES. One of my friends had a controller that was a big ball and two massive rectangular buttons. The ball wasn't like a trakball. Rather, it shifted and clicked when you pressed in a direction. Anyone else seen this one? Then of course there was the U-force or whatever it was called. They all sucked! Oops, I digress
