Has anyone tried this with a trak ball? It'd be interesting to know if the trak ball would reproduce the "Arcade Bowling" feel. :-)

Is it just me, or does Pitfall Harry look a lot like Disney's Peter Pan in that poster?

I'm turning green... I've been hunting for Sentinel on eBay, but I always get sniped in the last moments! I have a brand new SMS zapper, and an adapter on its way, but I can't seem to land Sentinel! :-( From what I've played in an emulator, the game is really fun! Does anyone know a place that will repro the Shooting Gallery proto? I'd like to get my hands on that one as well. I'm a big fan of games that use custom controllers, lately. So, being the OCD kind of guy that I am, I have to have all the different controllers, and at least one game for each. On another note... I never thought I'd buy a modern system, but gave in to the Dreamcast after realizing you could emulate on it. Then I realized how innovative this console is... so many different strange games, with different controllers, and ways to play. Soon after I started obsessing and bought about 40 or so games for it - many with unique controllers! but I digress

Wow! I'm really excited to give this one a shot! It sounds great! :-) [edit] I played on level 2 (to avoid the bug(?) mentioned above). I got my butt kicked pretty bad. LOL! Had fun along the way though! Great hack!

That's an octopus?! It looks more like a gigantic spider! Or maybe it is a monstrous water skipper. It doesn't look like an octopus though. Maybe it does, it's hard to tell through the pixels. Instead of King Kong, how 'bout Spider Kong?! No wait, that one's taken. How 'bout: "OH MY GOD, That's a big freaky spider!" hmm, not catchy enough, huh? maybe: "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" okay last one: "This game sucks no matter what you wanna call it" heeeheeeheee. It's kinda strange how cars drive by. zzzzhwip! kbye

Nice job! It is pretty difficult to score 3500 in this game. I keep looking for sneaky ways to boost my score on the earlier levels, but I have had no luck. I'm thinking now that as soon as you hit level 9, the best strategy must be to toggle the difficulty switch. At first I didn't like that idea at all, but at this point in the game, dodging enemy fire is no longer an option - you must shoot it down instead. And the enemies are firing like crazy bastards! My lazer heats over in a matter of seconds! Has anyone passed level 9 yet? Does the game loop back to level 1, or does the game become even more difficult? k

So was this the pan you were looking for? Or is this offer still open?

ah ah... correction. Tempest 2600. I am a big fan of Jeff Minter and Llamasoft. It's something about strobing graphics, sheep, pixel-pyrotechnics, and bizarre themes that captures my attention. :-) I put that in the "fictitious list" as a joke... also, I don't know if anyone picked up on it, but the graphic hacks are 3 to 1 on the code hacks... and all of the graphic hacks are of space invaders. :-) Sorry, I have a bizarre sense of humor. kbye

That's frustrating. Have you tried connecting it with a coaxial adapter? I wasn't able to play my Intellivision until I bought one through Atariage (I think Radioshack has them too). Those old switchboxes just don't seem to work as well with newer television sets. Another alternative is to have someone check out the system, fix it if necessary, and maybe even mod it to use an RCA connection. Povlok1 does a very nice job - I am very happy with the crisp picture get from my Atari to my tv screen. Whatever you do, I hope you get it working soon.

Made me think of that old song by Vera Lynn... , "We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll meet again some sunny day!" But seriously... Have a good vacation Andrew, and we will eagerly anticipate your return. :-)

I really like that idea. Using a table with various information would be nice too, then the hacks wouldn't necessarily need to be seperated, just noted.

I'm not aware of one if there is. Perhaps we could get one of the mods to do a Sticky thread of "Bad Traders" underneath the current "List of Recommended Traders". Megabuys.com is an eBay seller who should be on such a list.

LOL! I am sorry... it's been 'one of those days'. Class sucked today. I didn't sleep a wink last night, and we had to sit around and draw skeletons all day - BORING! After I got home, things got a little bit exciteable when I had to call 911 after this guy decided to drive his Datsun through the hedges just outside of my patio door. So I was already kind of wound up and incoherent when I logged onto the internet to read/interpret that my integrity was being called into question. I probably overreacted just a bit in my eagerness to prove my claims, and hoping to illustrate my reasons for cropping and compressing the image in the first place. Anyways, I'm an idiot. I should go do my homework.

incog wrote: Thomas said: Thanks for backing me, Thomas. :-) I took the shot with a digital camera, and then compressed it with Paintshop Pro so that it wouldn't bog down the forum. I sent a high resolution version to enter for the patch. Here is a less compressed version, for those skeptics... note that it has still been cropped (the original was about 1.55MB). BTW, I AM in fact using a modified Atari, that I bought from Povlok1. He will vouch for me on that. Also, if you look down towards the bottom of the shot, you will be able to read DAEWOO, which is a cheap brand of TV that I got from my family for Christmas a couple of years ago. I don't even know if the company makes monitors. no problem. Thought I'd comment to hopefully clear this up more. I would rather not have anyone on these boards think that I'm a cheater, liar, or a thief. :-) [edit... pic removed... too big. LOL! ]

Selling my custom made Jaguar rotary controller.
uosipa llamxew replied to CPUWIZ's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
*drool* That controller makes a Jaguar more tempting, for Tempest 2000 alone. You need a special adapter to use the Jag's controllers with a VCS, right? When you do, can you use the keypad like a children't controller? If not, that might be a neat hackjob. :-) -
Where can I see Nitemare Pinball?!? This sounds intriguing! :-)

Just one last strategy. Try to dodge missiles going either up or down. There is less screen this way, and so you have a better chance of being successful. Okay, I can sleep now. :-) (is it me, or am I talking to myself in this thread? LOL )

3489 tonight. I was so close! I was in a really good groove, and then my phone rang!!! So, I left the game paused between levels, and then came back to it only to die rather quickly. So, I think my strategy is working though... For the most part you wait to pick off the main targets on all the levels until you shoot out the fighter ships (sorry, I don't remember real names right now), using a slower and smoother target and then shoot technique. Don't just blast away, or your lazers will overheat! Anyways, this way you (hopefully) get near the maximum amount of points on a level, and you minimize your chance of getting blasted by the fighters who go into a frenzy after the main targets are shot. At first I was shooting a lot of enemy missiles - now I just avoid them as much as possible. I seem to be scoring just as well, and they can get to be a pain. If an enemy is shooting up at you... go up till the screen rolls and you can shoot him underneath. This works for the other directions as well. This technique works really well until the fighters get smart and start shooting in multiple directions! At level 8, I have to abandon my other strategies and going straight for the targets and to the warp. The fighters are moving so fast already by this time, that dodging and blasting missiles is near impossible. I'm actually thinking I may try the difficulty switch technique if I cannot score over 3500 soon. (oh and if I am repeating something that has already been said somewhere... I'm sorry). Man, this game rocks!

Here's one to add to your BLOCK LIST!! To Neg or Not to Neg?
uosipa llamxew replied to povlok1's topic in Auction Central
RCModeler wrote: No more unclear than listing Paypal with the "no credit card" exception. It was in clear writing. There are a lot of sellers who show multiple cartridges in their auctions of one title. Especially for those who have huge numbers of auctions to list. No, maybe with having all the carts pictured, the auction wasn't completely clear at first glance. However, one should read the details of an auction before they bid, or he/she is likely to not get exactly what they had expected. IMO, the bidder here was at fault, and should have either politely asked Povlok1 to relist, or eat it. On the other hand, I'm not saying I'm completely free of guilt here. Just recently I was pretty pissed off when I received 3 boxed Imagic cartridges, only to find that one of them didn't have the plastic insert, and the Firefighter cart didn't work. I went back and looked at the auction which clearly stated - "Star Voyager cart is missing plastic insert", and "Cartridges worked when they were boxed up years ago, but are being sold AS IS". Therefore I had to swallow it whole. And I gave him positive feedback. -
Where are the maze 'permissions' held in Jr. Pac-Man?

NEAT! Wish I could provide some help... instead I'll just bump this thread up... then the right person to help might see it. :-)
