  1. I have a Frogger by that Tawan company... it isn't PAL though. I got it accidentally. I bookmarked an auction on eBay, and my brother noticed and bought me the cart for Christmas one year. The instructions are written in very poor English on the back - I have no idea what is trying to be said. I've noticed that the artwork is a little bizarre - and sometimes doesn't even resemble what the game is about. Also, the labels don't fit the weird shaped cartridges very well. I see these Tawan pirates carts on eBay all of the time, but I don't bother to bid because I don't care for them all that much. :-P I'm sure that for a collector, it might be neat to have all of the Taiwan pirates together though. The same year that I got the cartridge for Christmas (probably 1999), my sister told me that the company she worked for used to assemble Atari cartridges just a few years before. Unfortunately, she didn't think that there were any cartridges left around AMI's warehouses. Does anyone know anything about about AMI's (Pocatello, Idaho) connection with Atari cartridge production?
  2. Thanks so much to you and Atariage for that! :-) This I would like to see. I suppose I should probably stick with trying to earn the patch first. I have been so close... so many times, but then I get attacked left and right... Kaboom! I do have a strategy worked out though. So, maybe tomorrow I will be posting a new score worthy of a patch. :-) Dang, this game is addictive!
  3. Just got 3343. I'll be lucky if I don't get thrown out of my apartment! There is some loud obscenities flying tonight! LOL!
  4. I got my copy in the post today! Yay! Also, to anyone who hasn't played this game on a VCS... buy this game NOW! Emulation doesn't do this game justice! The onscreen graphics are huge and the gameplay is simply amazing! I wish I had bought this a few months ago. :-) I've found that when the game gets going really fast, the best thing to do is to dodge the fighters and bullets, and shoot the diamonds and boss targets as quickly as you can. I realize that I could change the difficulty on the fly, but I think it would throw me off a bit... plus, I gotta get my score up! :-) @Manuel: This game is immaculate. I had no idea that it was going to play this good! :-) I think have a new favorite. It's funny how the homebrews are taking over my top ten list. I captured this score about 1/2 hour ago, but I'm getting better as I play. My goal now is to top 6000. :-) k
  5. IMO z26 is the ONLY way to emulate. :-)
  6. Pthbbtbttttth!!! HAHAHAHAHH! Darn! I just cleaned my monitor!!! ... (did I just quote CPUWIZ?!) d'oh!
  7. :-) I think I remember that, actually - probably because the handle "livinabin" is so unique. I have always been a fan of Keystone Kapers, mainly because the graphics and gameplay are among the best I've ever seen on the VCS. The first time I played it was at my cousin's house - I was so jealous! He also had Missile Command - which never became a part of my collection back then. Anyways, the strange thing is that I have never owned the cart myself, and I didn't realize until now that the difficulty increased (I have only played 2 or 3 levels before I've changed out the cartridge... ADD!) There is a copy of the game on its way to my box now. I guess I will have to play through till the difficulty overtakes me. I can't wait! :-) k
  8. I have to break the rules. The one game I remember scaring me out of my wits was Advanced Dungeons and Dragons on the Intellivision. Whenever I'd get chased by a Bear or a Dragon, I'd about pee myself as I mangled the disc on my INTV gamepad. Oh, also one day I was playing an intense game of SNAFU on my Intellivision when I looked down and saw a black widow an in or so from my bare feet. I could have pee'd myself!... The spider became a permanent feature of the bottom of my hand-flinging Nike sneaker that day, but it still gives me nightmares! Eeek!
  9. My best friend had one... but it too was 4-way. I remember begging him to sell me his Atari and games back when the SNES was big. Even though it was never used, he insisted that his dad wasn't ready to let it go. Also, he must have had a Supercharger (I'd never heard of such a thing back then) because I remember he had a tapedeck hooked into the Atari, and I thought that his brother was writing his own games in Basic or something... Wow, the memories! :-)
  10. Tempest: um, heh... what is the robot in your avatar doing? Reminds me of an early scene in American Beauty... LOL!
  11. Nope. You are the second person on these boards who has asked me that acutally. There are at least two other personalities on the internet who use the name. Besides the one who posts on somethingaweful.com, there is another who posts some pretty racial/nazi junk, (possibly a troll out for attention). Anyways, I have actually thought about changing the handle many times, but almost every account I own uses the name (multiple email addresses, Paypal, eBay, and even all my bills and utilities accounts) - it would be tedious to go through them all. Also, it may be confusing to those who know me on the internet now. On the other hand, I am the MoJoFLTR that is credited for creating the icon for the NES emulator NESten (although he modified it a bit, and it doesn't look quite as nice as it did when I sent it to him). Others may have seen the name for donating a cart in a Vertigo 2099 ROMPak, or on the old Spirit In The Contraption boards, and I used to frequent IRC in many of the emulation channels - most notably #mul8. I just used Copernick to pull up a search for "mojofltr", and it brought up some old posts in some Radiohead boards. That is me as well. When I chose the handle many years ago, I thought it would be unique. d'[email protected]!
  12. Sega Genesis controllers work as well. Many of the controllers I use with my VCS are 3rd-party genesis joysticks. I have a really nice Genesis Quickshot controller that works quite nicely. :-) I have to note, I don't have much experience using Sega Master System controllers with the VCS. I only have one (besides the zapper) right now, and while it works, I'm not too thrilled with the joystick itself. the stick spins and makes it awkward to grip, much less control. It looks awefully neat though. I have often wondered why someone would go to the trouble of modifying a NES gamepad, when a Sega gamepad can be purchased cheap - and is already plug and play. Then again, I have never used an SMS gamepad, so I'm really not sure how one compares with an NES gamepad.
  13. It's not that it is "hard", it is just a pain. You have to make a special trip, pay an added fee, pay for postage, and then take it to the post office. Using a credit card is much easier. If I want something bad enough, I will bid on an item where the seller will only take a money order. For the most part I avoid anything that I can't get out of the way in a minte with Paypal. @RCModeler I think the best option - as it was mentioned earlier in the thread is not to use the paypal option in ebay... list it yourself, maybe using a graphic like the one I posted in your other thread. This way the only place that Paypal is mentioned will also have the disclaimer that you won't accept a credit card.
  14. the pipe pic is pretty interesting, but that last one is just wrong on so many levels.
  15. I must've been editing my post while you were writing yours. You're just too quick for me. LOL!
  16. I have a SMS stick that works fine on the VCS, so I assume this one will. I bought a SMS zapper for use with Sentinel when I get a copy, but you have to either modify the gun or buy an adapter for that one. Also, I was just surfing eBay when I stumbled onto a joystick decal for Star Wars Arcade and realized that Star Wars Arcade used a stick instead of a driving controller like this. For some reason, I distinctly remember a Star Wars Arcade game that had similar looking controls as this Sega Handle controller. Was it a sequel? Can anyone confirm this? I might have dreamt it! :-) [Edit] The auction I was looking at was misleading. I found a picture of the arcade controls, and although there is two handles, it still isn't very similar to the Sega Handle Controller. I still think that the handle controller would provide a more arcade "feel" though. It'd be really cool for racing games too. :-) [Edit 2] Now I'm thinking about it, I'm not sure that the Sega Handle controller allows you to pull back or push forward for UP and DOWN movement. It may not work after all. Can anyone confirm whether it does or not? BLAB BLAB BLAB. Sorry.
  17. I haven't yet found a copy of this one, but I have played it via emulation and was extremely impressed. :-) I expect that this game is as close to the arcade as a VCS port could be... I love it, and I'm not even a big Star Wars buff! I'm also searching for one of these controllers, as when I do finally snatch up a copy of Star Wars Arcade, I think this might be just one step closer to feeling like the arcade version. Has anyone tried it? (BTW, if anyone has a spiffy copy of Star Wars Arcade or this Joystick that they'd like to sell or trade... PLZ PM ME!!!) :-)
  18. I have 101 on cassette somewhere. Depeche Mode are one of my favorite bands. I prefer many of the live versions to the original recordings. I saw Depeche Mode live a few years back when they were on the Singles tour. Great show with Stabbing Westward as the startup band... amazing show! Fletch looks like an Atari geek, doesn't he? LOL! I'm really not surprised. I'll have to look for the video at the rental shop again. I rented it one time and fell asleep (I have a bad habit of falling asleep during movies). Now I'm thinking I might dig out some Depeche Mode and listen to them on the way to school today. Yah... sounds good. kbye
  19. Wow! I have dreamed of Solomon's Key on the VCS many times, but never thought it was possible. The whole "find the key - get to the door - next room" type of game has been one of my favorites as long as I can remember. The puzzles aspect of Solomon's Key is particularly appealing, as well as The Adventure of Lolo (NES) and Donkey Kong 95 (SGB). If it is possible, I'd really like to see it done on the VCS. I really like the mockup! :-) I love puzzle games. I was really impressed with the Sokoban demo... Although, I'd like to see the game completed with several more levels. :-) I wonder what is it exactly about playing one of these games implemented on the VCS that excites me so much. I can always play the arcade version on Mame... or a graphically superior port on another console, but when a game is ported just right, I always prefer the VCS version. Is that weird? Does anyone else feel this way? BTW, great idea... I really hope that it gets implemented some day. :-)
  20. I haven't messed with any new versions of Mame for several months... have they got the sound working without samples? the low quality samples have always been a frustration for me, although I too think this is the best version available. Maybe if samples were taken directly from the N64 version, it might be better? (I haven't ever played this, so I really don't know.) Also, does anyone know if there is a Dreamcast emulator that runs Donkey Kong faithfully? This game is one of my all-time favorites. When I first played it on a Super Gameboy (upon initial release), I thought that it was just another lousy port, not unlike the NES version... and so I didn't give it much chance. When gameboy emulators started implementing the extra color graphics of the Super Gameboy, I tried the game again and played it after the graveyard shift at work till I beat it (it took three mornings... about 3 hours a piece). I don't yet own this one, but the game alone is worth owning a Super Gameboy for. I will own the cart soon - just give me time. :-) (am I a blabbermouth tonight or what?)
  21. I think the Joy Sensor Pads are much worse than the Intv pads. While the Intv pads generally suck - you have to give Mattel credit for innovation. Remember the intellivoice (although very few games use the technology) and the computer add-on? The overlays are really pretty cool, along with the number pad - especially in games like Baseball and Tron - Deadly Discs. Innovation means a lot to me with video games. I am a big fan of Sega for their innovative product line. While these systems may not have made it in the long run, they did open up developers eyes to new concepts and game ideas. Most people complain about the Intellivision's faulty gamepads. I have an Intellivision (I) and my gamepads work flawlessly! :-) I have to say that I did grow up with an INTVII, and we shredded the gamepads! I think that they were designed to be produced inexpensively. :-P :-) Utopia anyone? I love that game, if I only had someone to play with. I would love to see someone develop Utopia with AI!!!! I think that the Intellivision has some arcade ports that are far superior to the original VCS releases. Burgertime and Pac-man immediately come to mind. I prefer Lock 'n' Chase and Nightstalker on the Intellivision as well... although Frogger is much better on the VCS. :-) I don't love the Intellivision quite the same as my VCS, but it does hold a special place in my heart. I really can't imagine having grown up without Sewer Sam, and you have to admit, the music in Snafu really enhances the whole Ssssnake gaming experience. :-) Anyways... I digress. Back on topic... the joy sensor pads still suck! [edit] I think I use to many emoticons. Anyone agree? :lolblue: :lolblue: :lolblue: :lolblue:
