  1. @Nukey: I love Rampart!!!! You might want to check out the famicom version of Rampart as it is much different than the other various ports. While the basics are the same, the characters you use are very different. It's been a while, but I think there might be a quest mode in it as well. I sure wish one of the translation groups would pick up on this one! If you are at all interested, PM me... I'll hook you up with the ROM. There are several games that I am hooked on in Mame that I never saw in the arcade: The Glob, Anteater, and Foodfight to name just a few. I grew up sheltered. My mother thought that the dark smokey atmosphere of arcades were the devil's playground for child molesters and such. Incidentally, I really don't have many memories of the earlier titles, except for those that I caught a glimpse of on rare occasions when I sneaked in while she wasn't looking. Of those I remember, but never actually played, Dragon's Lair stands especially. The only early arcade games that I have a good memory of were usually found in well lit department stores - Shopko, K-mart and such. Thus, my favorite arcade games growing up were Megaforce (Starforce for others), and High-speed MsPacman, and Q*bert! :-)
  2. LOL! I misread "homey" as "honey" at first. Talk about double-take! The link didn't work for me either. The snapshot looks great though! @Krytol: Could you post the .bin in the forum? You'll need to zip it up first though. For some reason Atariage won't allow you to post a bin file (even though it is listed in the acceptable files).
  3. Maybe he meant that the lot as a whole is kinda heavy(?) I guess at least this one has six switches. :-P
  4. This looks awesome! It'll be neat to see new tracks. Do you plan on having a contest on Atariage for people to make the best tracks to include in the final hack? BTW, I thought I'd mention that you mispelled "objective" on your homepage. All looks great! Keep up the good work!
  5. Yah, I guess I was pretty forward about telling him what's what with his auction. I didn't consider myself to be rude though. When I first read the auction, I expected that he was either a jerk trying to jack up the price of his auction with false advertisement, or a naive seller who borrowed a description from someone else's auction believing it to coincide with his own. At any rate, this guy's response makes me assume the former. The email still makes me giggle. heehee
  6. Wow, I bet that makes really good pizza. I'll trade a Coleco Gemini for it... (the gemini needs a solder job, and is ugly). Oh, here's another idea, although it isn't a Wilton Performance pan. It comes recommended by the New Cook's Catalogue (must be a sponsor or something. LOL) http://www.cooking.com/products/shprodde.a....asp?SKU=157674 Okay, I won't post any more URLs unless I find the actual thing now. I promise.
  7. I looked for a long time, but all the Wilton pans are either too small or the perforated pattern doesn't look the same. :-( Here's a couple of Wilton pans that don't match... http://www.goldaskitchen.com/merchant.ihtm...pid=6428&step=4 http://www.lotsofhousewares.com/us_kitchen...-locale-us.html or this one isn't Wilton, but looks like it might work: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...&category=20627 Doing a search for "perforated pizza pan" brings up tons of stuff... I wouldn't be too surprised if these could be had off of eBay. You'd just have to keep on it or have it in your favorite searches so that eBay emails you when you get a match. Then again, a lot of people would probably just list it as a pizza crisper or something like that without mentioning the Wilton name. Ah who knows?! I gotta go to bed. I have school early in the morning and I'm worrying about winning a Cuttle Cart. *sniff*
  8. LOL! Okay, I don't know why I felt so inclined, but I emailed this guy when I first read this thread, and I just got a reply. First I'll quote me: And here is the response I got... heehee It was worth it just for the humorous reply, me thinks.
  9. that's hysterical! I plugged in CNN.com, and had a quick laugh. I have never seen that before.
  10. It's been a while since I saw the cartridge for Sewer Sam. I remember back when Sewer Sam's 3D graphics were the hype. Oh, and those stupid white birds that would grab hold of you and zip you back 1/2 a mile through the sewer! :-P
  11. I signed up, but haven't received an email with my password. Too bad for me. I could have 12 out of my 40 posts already. Hmmmm, It's too darn early anyways. Maybe it IS in my email, and I just don't see it. I should go get some coffee while I'm waiting. Or maybe it's not in there, and I don't see it, but it's on its way. Or maybe it's not on its way, I don't see it, and it's not in there. Or maybe I accidentally gave the wrong email address. Or maybe the email is delayed, and I am waiting, but not patiently. Or maybe there is no email, I am a not waiting escaped mental patient... on antibiotics. Kill me Sarah, Kill me again with love. 'sGonna be a glorious day!
  12. Here are a few methods to create a higher difficulty while playing Fire Fighter: 1) Play the game with the controller upside-down. 2) Use your feet to control the joystick. 3) Drink a couple of buds and lay on the couch with your head over the side so that you are viewing the TV upside-down. You'll be surprised how high the level of difficulty can be raised by doing just this. 4) Turn down the contrast on your television so that you can only see the few major sprite characters. It's like playing the game in the night! 5) When it is your turn to play, close your eyes and have your friend tell give you directions and guide you while playing the game. If you have four or more people, this can make for great team competitions. 6) If the game is still too easy, try playing the game using only your head and face to move the controller! I would recommend you close the curtains before you try any of these methods. Not only will people think you are a little loco, it'll only add fuel to fire the debate that all Atari junkies are morons. :-) When I was younger (and had friends), we used to make up new ways to play our older games when we were too poor to buy new ones. It's funny, but some of the lamest games can become kind of fun if you conjure up some odd way to play it differently. Oh, and just for my own rep. I have only played a game using my face, once or twice... okay, maybe three times. But now we are all a bit older, we have beer to blame for our odd behaviors. Just drink up, and you won't feel so silly doing it. kbye.
  13. Well, of course. Everyone's out to sue people these days. They don't want to be responsible if something backfires when you put the cartridge into your game slot!
  14. These are really cool! This would be a great sort of thing for a homebrewer to include in a new release! :-) Thanks for posting them!
  15. I had an Intellivision II that required you to put a book or something underneath the game to lift it inside the slot to work. Actually, it was the computer add-on part that needed this. The system worked fine by itself. I didn't realize this was a common problem. The Intellivision I own right now works perfectly every time - no problems. :-) You guys are evil!
  16. Here's a simple solution - maybe... If you don't mind losing the score board, you could hack all of the number sprites to look like a mailbox - they'd all have to be the same of course. Then there would be a mailbox there. LOL! So, what kind of hack is this? Was I right when I asked if it was a game about a postal worker?
  17. Nice job! I don't own this one yet, and have it in my head that I won't even attempt to play it through till I have it in a real machine. IMO, it is definitely one of the top 5 VCS titles I have ever played. BTW, I always love seeing the Spiderman figure in front of your screen!
  18. I am really looking forward to seeing how this turns out. There are a LOT of good games to be considered! :-) Will all of the votes be shown, or only the winning entries?
  19. [punkassbitch] I guess I'm just a pervert, but this thing looks pretty phallic. I'm half surprised it doesn't have a Mystique logo on the box. :-P Shipping and Handling, 6.00!!!?! As is?!!!!? I bet the stupid thing doesn't even work right. [/punkassbitch]
  20. Whatever happened to the hack of "a better Pacman" that was under the running title Mr. Pacman? This one was looking really good. I hope that it is still being worked on(?) Well, I'm going to say one thing to spite Ebivision. Until they release their games, I'll never buy one, so nyah!!! ((raspberry)) Ummm, By the way, I'm very rarely serious, unless you mean always, in which case I am.
  21. Yup, I can't keep up. My last post was outdated by the time I posted. That's it - I'm leaving! (Everyone cheers)
  22. It's funny, from what I've read about these games, they're really not all that special anyways. Yah, I too would like to play them sometime given the chance. Maybe it is in Ebivision's best interest to keep them away from the public for the time being. Then upon their eventual release EVERYONE will hop on the wagon and nab 'em up like delicious chocolate chip cookies, only to find out that they're disgusting date-filled danishes. ICK! Of course, I don't have any firsthand knowledge of these games (except for Merlin's Walls) myself, so maybe it is quite a different story altogether... and maybe I should keep my trap shut. :-P @CPU, I hope that this discussion won't disuade you from releasing your game. If it is a really good game, people will buy it. I do think that releasing it in a ROM form is a good way to advertise it. Perhaps a limited version (like Thrust without the music). Or something a crippled/time limited version, just to give the player an idea of the game. I have to admit that I am of the population of gamers who won't buy a game before I have played it and know I like it. But I really hate to see a homebrewer become discouraged or lose interest in a project over this sort of issue. Unfortunately, it happens. :-(
