  1. Awww... come here, you!!! LOL!
  2. Agreed! Nukey always has really good input... extremely knowledgable about these things! @Nukey... have you any projects of your own brewing?
  3. I have never been good with thumb pads or driving controllers. I have to side with the Driving Controller as far as Thrust goes though. Yah, I realize it probably lessens my chances of ever finishing the game, but the controls are so amazing and add so much to the feel of the game. Thrust is awesome - no matter the controls, but the DC and Pedals are my preference as of now. This modified Driving Controller looks awesome! @Robert M.: I would love to have one of these, if you were ever to produce more and sell them.
  4. how would someone go about getting one of these adapters? I suppose the adapter would be equally as necessary to use the SMS zapper on the 2600?
  5. Or you might possibly hack the 1,2, and 3 to small graphics that resemble some part of the level. Nice job on this one - pretty slick! :-)
  6. oooh! who burned you the Recca?! I would love to snag a copy of this one and many others! Is there a burning service that anyone knows of? I am not nearly as much of a collector as a gamer. I usually only collect the games that I really enjoy, so a copy of Recca would subdue me for quite some time. Also - there are many translated ROMs that I would have burned. :-)
  7. LOL! You just need to add a small crutch underneath a branch in your Avatar, Timmy.... err, uh, Moycon.
  8. Yah, sorry. I got quick to respond because sometimes I think that everyone on the boards uses or is familiar with emulators. I had assumed that you'd misunderstood LostMonkey when he mentioned the sound samples. So I posted to poke a bit of fun... and maybe point out what he was saying. Right after I posted, I realized that it might be possible that you weren't all that familiar with Mame. So, I edited my post with the link. As it turns out, I was wrong either way. HAHA! Anyways, I'm a moron. Don't listen to me.
  9. I'd expect that you need to download the sound samples as LostMonkey was hinting (really loudly). I've only ever played it for Vectrex, and don't remember sound. go here: http://www.arcadeathome.com/mamewav.phtml and download the samples. Put them in your mame/samples directory if I remember right. I think it should work from there. It has been many months since I have fired up Mame. kbye
  10. 1) Little Samson 2) (Summer '97) Recca (not sure on that title) 3) Gimmick 4) Armadillo 5) Rampart (J) 6) Whomp'Em Little Samson & Whomp'Em (I think) came out later during the lifespan of the NES and were overshadowed by 16 bit stuff. I think that Recca, Gimmick, and Armadillo were only Famicom releases. Recca is an amazing shmup that I think newly released schmups should be modeled after! I went looking for it online and found it for about 375 bucks. Unfortunately, I haven't built up the guts to fork over that much cash for one cartridge yet. I finished Gimmick and Armadillo recently via emulation. Both are very good platformers - good enough that I want them on cartridge NOW! :-) The Japanese version of the game Rampart is MUCH different than the US version... far better in my opinion, and I liked the US version. I recently picked myself up a GTA, just so that I could start collecting these great (obscure to Americans) Famicom games. There are so many great games that never got all that popular, but these are those that are most current on my mind. :-) BTW, anyone know of a good place to get famicom imports? I really wish I was just lucky enough to win a lot of famicom carts off of ebay for cheap. MoJoFLTR=dreamer
  11. I think he's just waiting till someone gives the right answer... and that answer is: Actually, the cult that I am a part of prohibits me from answering this question - it is much too sacred of a topic to go off spatting about unrefrained in such a public forum. For God's sake, Sleep! There might be christians in here! (how did you like that irony?... "For God's sake" ... "christians" - HAHAHAHAH!) Oh, and for the sake of my reputation... those who are easily offended -please go read the disclaimer on the back of Michael Jackson's Thriller video as it applies to this message, in this thread, in this forum, on this page, on this web, on the internet that I invented in my mind 7 years before computers when online. HUH?
  12. Worried about offending anyone, I rethought the wording there and changed it, but NE146 was quick to post, and told on me. LOL! Ah well... guess I should get through that editing process before I hit the "submit" button, eh?
  13. These vector hacks are nutty... but fun! Sure has been a few posted recently. LOL!
  14. I just saw where your located - I live there too! :-) The first few times I played Oystron, I just didn't get what the hype was about. A while back, after playing so many other homebrews, I decided to go back and read the instructions before I gave it another shot. It has become one of my favorite games of all time! It rocks! Marble Craze is great fun too... although I haven't had enough time to sit down and play much more than one or two games since I got my copy. I love the innovation - using the two paddles is perfect for the game. In my opinion, this one became classic as soon as it was released. :-) BTW, the other day I played a GBA game called something like Super Monkey Ball(?). Like Marble Craze, it has the tilted platform movement idea going on -- it wasn't nearly as fun to play as Marble Craze just for lack of paddles to play with. k
  15. I think that there is enough differece between Yar's Revenge and Star Castle that as they are, they both stand firm on their own as individual games. I'm amazed of how well thought out Yar's Revenge is to make a similar idea play out so well with the limitations of the VCS. I guess there are two buffoons that surf these forums - I never knew this either. I recognized the similarity between Yar's Revenge and Star Castle, but had never read confirmation of their relationship. I had heard the Ray/Yar thing before - but there's nothing wrong with the repetition... it's a good story, and a lot of people on these boards may not have heard it before. :-) @bjk7382 & MikeMika: Thanks for sharing. kbye.
  16. Welcome! You couldn't have picked a better forum to post to. Most everyone here is really friendly. Although I've probably deserved it on countless occasions, I haven't even been flamed once!!!! Seriously though it's a great group - been like a family to me since I moved to Seattle and know no live humans. :-)
  17. This is pretty rad! :-) With the black - and the white "shadow"... it actually looks more like a bright white ball over a glossy black (glass?) surface. Really neat. Too bad bout the court turning into a diamond. What might be kind of neat is if you do manage to find a way to hack it out - and then put some sort of emblem in the middle - maybe a Pong 2-D logo or something. Anyways... I like this one a lot. It's a keeper. :-)
  18. Usually one at a time, loose from the original box, upside down, and projecting out of cartridge slot in my VCS.
  19. I am using the footpedals and driving controller. If you think the game is fun already - just wait. Once you try the footpedal/DC combination, you'll be hooked all over again. I doubt if I'll ever finish the game this way (Who am I kidding? I'm not good enough to finish with a joystick either), but the footpedal and DC involve you in the game like you wouldn't believe. Too cool. I would like to try it with the Booster Grip control - but I don't have one yet. Some day... :-) BTW - the footpedal is worth the money if only to play Thrust. But I would definitely like to get some DC hacks as well. kbye.
  20. I ran out of time on this one - school finals and such. Anyways, here's some rough mockup drafts of where I was going to go with my label... not nearly where I had imagined it... but oh well. It has been scaled down to post on the web. (The color one was colored after the rescale... for quick reference - which is why the quality is so poor.) k thx
