That does sound a bit naive.Hell I could make that deal with my wife right now... For all the good it would do me

Also, how come her hobbies have to be creative and substantive and yours don't?

All of my hobbies are creative and substantive. To me, a hobby should be a vehicle for one's own growth and development, not something to be passively enjoyed the way a cow enjoys the sunshine (which is what too many people often do). Ideally, I'd choose to be in a relationship with somebody who sees them the same way and is just as passionate as I am about finding those opportunities for self-improvement, even if the particular hobbies she chooses are different from my own. It's possible to achieve that even in classic computing and gaming: look here to see one of the ways I've done it.
But that wasn't really my point. I've just noticed that active participants in our little hobby often find themselves severely cutting back on their collections--or getting rid of them entirely--due to pressure from their spouses, especially among those who are newly married. I still think it's possible to avoid these areas of friction if both parties are willing to understand each other and negotiate before they make any long-term commitments.
Yeah, that was my point too (I was just kidding about the other part.. thus the winky face!)
I really don't think it is going to make much difference what "deals" you make going into marriage. The only one that matters is you are stuck with each other and you are both going to have to compromise. You'll just dissagree about what constitutes spending on your hobby and what time is appropriate for spending your X%, or your wife is going to save her X% because (enter whatever obligations come up that are more important to her than to you here) and is going to be bitter if you still spend yours, etc.
Basically, I think you are better off finding someone that you get along with in general and who values your opinions and your happiness than to try to force them to adhere to some sort of pre-nup contract about what you are allowed to spend your money on and trying to force them to stick to it. Also, if you marry someone who has a real career and understands what money means that should help too.

With space spartans, the voices are really inportant. They tell you when your base is under attack, what is damaged when you are hit, when you are being repaired, how many enemies you have left to fight, etc.
I would say, while it will "run" without the intellivoice, you couldn't really play it without it. Just get an intellivoice, they're cheap and space spartans is awesome.

Maybe he just doesn't want to spell out that he is really selling 2 games and a bunch of empty boxes.

I think Super Cobra is my rarest title.

Yes Zylon, unlike the VCS version that just has you go thru the 2 color ribbons to finish the battle, while INTV has the mountains, forest and Castle Greyskull battles with fireballs, lightning bolts, timers and whatever the sword was called on the show.
I have this one as a loose cart. I just never made it that far.I never gave this one the time of day on either system. Usually only played around for a minute or so to test.
I did make it to a room with stuff on the floor moving at me but couldn't figure out what to do.
Don't have much of a chance but here's what I got. 89,300
This is actually really a great game..
It's not very complicated, you fly forward shooting asteroids and bombing skeletor for points until the miles (M) indicator reaches 0, you have limited fuel too (shown by the fuel tank indicator) so don't go backwards too much. Then you automatically land and on the ground scenes you just have to walk forward dodging (almost) all the stuff skeletor throws at you and make it to him (at which point there is an automated sword fight and you move on) you get 3 screens of that and then back to the flying level.
Here is the manual if that helps:

Netflix has tv shows too. The selection is pretty weak here in Canada though, but it's still pretty nice. All you need is any current gen game system for netflix though. Not sure what the roku thing ads.

To check up everyone, wtg getting the bonus Jacob... Zylon, yep Demon is appearing to be more painful (in glitchiness) but as Crade can contest the higher Ice Trek levels (especially the ice bridge) is a SUPER SUPER SUPER PAIN!!!
Yeah.. It feels so close (~2k from the bonus) yet so, soooo far across that last bridge!

Is something wrong with me that it bothers me that they changed the GREAT running man to some lame running man animation?

Kinda cool though. I do worry about you tho rev that you search and search the internet for all this different stuff!! haha
You worry about me? LOL.
Actually, i dont spend as much time as it seems looking for interesting stuff. i was just browsing through youtube for a few minutes and found this.
One thing you dont know is that i do not have cable tv so therefore i do not watch tv. i do not watch tv on the internet either. i play games and come to AA and ebay instead of TV.
People ALWAYS say to me ' did you see that funny commercial" or 'did you see american idol last night' or did you watch the game" i have to say no no and no......i just dont care about that stuff.
Where i know some people who watch hours and hours of tv and THEN hours and hours of internet. Im just hours and hours of internet.

I would love to cancel my TV but the wife would never go for it. I think TV is a wasteland and a complete time sink. She's completely addicted though..haha
I would love to cancel the cable / satelite. I swear all that thing has on it is survivor spin offs and the real house wifes of 30 different cities. I couldn't give up the TV though.. how would I play my intellivision (and other games and movies)!

One thing that might help with the time factor would be score multipliers
(1x score on easy, 1.5x score on difficulty 2, or 2000 + score on difficulty 2 etc) then you could play slow or fast games but it would probably be tough to organize fair(ish) multipliers.
I was thinking it would be nice to keep a scoreboard somewhere with the highest score reached for each game too, then people who got addicted to the game during the contest could still try to beat it after it had passed (even though it wouldn't affect the contest scores of course)
I guess you also gotta keep in mind that the easier it is to organize the more likely it will stay around too though

lol, I had my eye on that package too.
edit: err.. somehow I feel I should rephrase..
I was planning on bidding on that auction as well.. heh

Demon Attack - A good cleaning of the controller matrix made a difference, much smoother movement - 6,654 - would have been better, but a double cheap shot finished me off. Man, those damn red bugs (the middle wave of three) are meaner than anything in the 2600 version, even on the first go-round.
Nova Blast - Cleaning the controller didn't do anything; seriously, you guys just push one of the right buttons and bombs drop? One of the right buttons puts out a beam like the lower left, but that's all. I dont even know how I got as far as I did at 24,600 the first time.
For me, both buttons on the left are fire, and the top right is fire and the bottom right is bomb. I haveto hold the controler backwards because of this since I normally use my right for steering and the left for fire

Apparently he makes forgeries of the existing ones too with no apparent indication that they aren't authentic originals. Thats a little annoying.
Actually, i was looking at the donkey kong one he made. it looks VERY similar to the orphan overlay.
If i were to ever make some, they would be totally different.
But the interest is obvioulsy there for new overlays to be made, and psychostormtrooper isnt going to make any more.
I was thinking of the the imagic ones:
eBay Auction -- Item Number: 270755410769
Which I think are indistinguishable from the original imagic ones at least at first glance.
I don't care if they are totally different, but at least a tiny mark somewhere that says it's a reproduction and not an original so that they don't get mixed in with the original releases or something.

The controllers are great. They make it so that emulators and rereleases and such never work right because you never get proper 16 way joysticks

The only thing wrong with them is they break too easy, and the side buttons really need to be 4 different buttons, not 3 (this is really bugging me on nova blast, I have to hold the stupid thing backwards!).
The intellivision is awesome. Just try going back to atari afterwards!

seems to me that your already have your strategies set, what would be? a hostile take over at the last 0.002 seconds?don´t wait too much for bid, maybe the seller may cancel the auction if he thinks it won´t get bid. You can bid normal amounts to please the seller and then go crazy!

I have a funny feeling that this seller won't be ending this auction early for some side dealer.

And those last second snipe bids really do work...that is how i just won my french DK JR.

They work great, but probably not as well when you tell your competitors people you are doing it

That's what I use, bought it when my 2600 had a similar problem, worked great for the Atari, but no dice on the Intelivision.
Hmm, You can also try changing the channel switch on the intv 2 and trying the other channel setting. Sometimes 1 is clearer than the other. Also, you can try swapping the cable out if you have a few rca cables lying around I use the video cable from rca connectors, but with some cables it's fuzzy and some it isn't. Every system I've had has been super picky.
Edit: I believe the actual cable that you are "supposed" to use (that black one) doesn't work well for me either which is why I use a good solid yellow video rca type cable.

I just started collecting and playing Intellivision this last week, and wow I am wondering why I did not buy one before! Already won a few good lots, including a boxed Intellivoice, I wanted to play the Bomb Squad game. A few questions though, a game I bought today had the PCB recessed inside the cart, is this fixable? Also, the Inty I bought has a fuzzy screen but the sound is fine. It plays good, just curious if there is a good fix for that.
Usually the fuzzy screen has more to do with the connection to your TV than the actual Inty machine. The signal strength from the intv is pretty wussy compared to modern systems and I have found it doesn't take well to things like splitters and such. I have found this sort of connector connected directly to the cable slot works best:

1. Tron Deadly Discs:
I don't understand why this isn't everyone's favorite game
It's also great that this actually required the intv controller to play properly.2. Space Spartans
The last of the intv games I get serious insatiable cravings for.
It's a space flight sim, it's a strategy game, it's castle defense, it's awesome. Really puts the voicebox to good use.
3. Dreadnaught Factor:
Underrated on all counts.
4. Burgertime
Used to be my favorite as a kid.
5. Astrosmash
The only game my mom liked. She still talks about it sometimes.
6. Bomb Squad
Great memories with this one. The voices crack me up on this game "Up more... DOOOOOWN more!"
7. lock and chase:
I didn't know that this was a pacman clone when I was young, I never liked pacman much, but this game was great
8. Treasures of Tarmin:
The only game that felt d&d-ish on the intv. I'm also surprised many people like cloudy better. When wizardry came out I stopped playing it though.
9. He-Man:
Of course I had the toys when I was young, but this game stands on it's own.
10. Utopia:
Two bad I got no one to play with anymore.
11. Sea Battle:
Ditto
12. Tripple Action:
Biplanes. My brother and I also liked the tank game better than armor battle. The racing game blew chunks.
13. Thunder Castle:
Just picked it up, it's going to see quite a bit of play time.
14. Space Hawk:
I guess 14 is the devide for me between the awesome and the mediocre.
This one is kinda funny.. There seems to be no point, and everything is slow but it's fun anyway.
15. Star Strike:
Great game visually. The game play is only decent.
16. Beamrider:
Another one I never tried until recently. It's a good strong game.
17. Boxing:
I had some good times with this one at my cousin's place who only had sports games.
18. Night Stalker:
Didn't really like this one all that much. I did play it quite a bit though for some reason.
19. Q-bert:
I never really played any other versions. It was not bad at all.
20. Pitfall:
Pretty good, but it hurts my thumb.
21. Truckin:
Another one that I picked up late. A good game, but one of those long ones that won't get played too often.
22. Cloudy Mountain:
I never really got into this one. It seems not bad
23. Snafu:
Or Tron: Cycles.

24. Centipede:
A good port of a good game.
25. Space Armada:
Good old arcade game. Nothing original.
There is still quite a few that I haven't tried that I just managed to get a hold of recently so maybe it will change soon

I didn't realize you were talking about the same place.. lol sorry.
Anyway, they used to have a USB adapter version listed on the usb page for intellivision as well that worked like the others on that page and didn't require modding your Intellivision controller. I don't know why it isn't listed anymore.

I vote for space spartans!

Hi everyone.
It's been a while since I last played my Intellivision, but tonight I wanted to get back to playing some of those great games. Initially I was looking for A/V mods and then came across the Classic Game Controller (out of stock). I always wanted to be able to use my Intellivision controllers on my PC with the Intellivision emulators. Last time I looked into that there was nothing. Now, I saw the above mentioned but no longer being made CGC, then I also saw a chip that lets you solder your original Intellivision pad to a USB cable for use on a PC. I may go that route, but wanted to ask a question first.
With new USB versions of the Competition Pro controller, NES controllers, Atari 2600 controllers, I wanted to ask if anyone knows if there are plans to make USB Intellivision / Colecovision style controllers? If so, I'd just pick those up instead of hacking apart my Intellivision controllers.
If anyone has any information on this, or if someone else is releasing a Classic Game Controller box like the one mentioned above for the Intellivision, please let me know.
Thanks,
John
Hey, retrozone used to sell intellivision controller adapters that looked identical to the atari, vectrex and genesis ones here:
http://www.retrousb.com/index.php?cPath=21
I'm not sure why they don't have intellivision listed anymore, but it might be worth sending them an email to ask why they were removed and if any of the existing ones would work with intv controllers.

I've seen quite a few up here with bilingual manuals, but never the box title yet. Course, I haven't seen one in the box in the wild at all here since the early 90s.
