  1. AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!!! Worked great.... Keyboard and all.... Put case back together.... Now nothing. No power..... Nothing. DAMN!!!!
  2. That did it!! Thank you guys!! Now my ribbon cable for the keyboard is shot!!!! 2 of the pins are missing... Any easy fix??
  3. That is what I thought, but in the pic I looked at as well as yours. the ribbon comes out of the bottom. That is why I did it, but I kinda thought the same thing. Trying now. Wish me luck.
  4. OK guys.... here it is. Worked fine before I attempted the upgrade. What did I do wrong? Granted it has been 20 years since I soldered anything.... Eyesight is not what it once was, but am I missing something obvious?
  5. Thanks for the info. I did a test fit last night of that same idea, before waking up this morning and reading your post. I was just worried with the U1MB sliding around, but with the ribbon tucked under that should be just enough to keep it in place. Thanks again.
  6. Trouble sleeping.... Any way to mount this thing in the 800XL without drilling a hole? Surprisingly there was 1 long screw, 1 stand off, and 3 washers included in the package. How did you guys mount this thing without drilling?
  7. Is there an advantage to NOT putting the RF shielding back on once the upgrade is done??
  8. So...... I have to go to bed in a bit to get up at 2AM for an EARLY day at work tomorrow, so I am posting this now in hopes of having some answers when I wake up. If all goes well, my 800XL goes under the knife for surgery tomorrow afternoon to have Lotharek's Ultimate 1MB Revised 2K14 installed. The following picture is of my personal motherboard. From what I can gather from pics on the net, this is the 4 solder points to connect correct? The one I have the most trouble seeing from pics posted is the PHI2. Am I correct that it get soldered to the right leg of R20? Are the other 3 spots correct for the 2K14 revision? I know that the 4 wires can be soldered to the CPU itself, but I read other places that said it was not a good idea. What is the disadvantage? Thanks in advance.
  9. Ouch.... I got some time to wait then. I did not order mine till April 20th.
  10. Firedawg, when did you place your order? Can not wait to get mine.
  11. I set the baud rate to 19,200 (1x) but it still beeps and loads a lot faster that a real 1050. While I do like the extra speed, I would like to get accurate timing like Altira uses, for the authenticity. Also, What method of handshaking should I be using?
  12. Wish there was a royal blue color available, but all is good.
  13. Then there was this one for the ST. Played it as well. \
  14. That's the one!! I used to love that game. Have the ADF in my collection somewhere.
  15. Yeah, I actually had both. I had the 800 and C64 side by side, then sold the C64 and got the ST. Then after a wile, sold that and got the Amiga. I was well versed in all four of the major platforms back in the day. There was a wheel of Fortune game for the Amiga, when you played solo, the computer players were 'Amiga Red' and 'Amiga Blue'. It used software speech synthesis similar to SAM, and would say "Go Ahead Amiga Blue". A friend and I say that to each other all these years later. Sticks in our heads like an old movie quote.
  16. Here is a Washington DC area review from 1982. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1982/08/18/chuck-e-cheeses-pizza-time-theatre/c8e7a6fe-8f60-4f13-9443-e968f3edb458/?utm_term=.84c6204d17eb
  17. Dudes...... Nolan's rodent served beer! Most bar's had video games back in those days. http://www.chron.com/entertainment/restaurants-bars/article/Chuck-E-Cheese-s-has-always-served-beer-and-6555998.php
  18. I forgot about the Madonna one, as Roy and VH were the ones most people in this area had.
  19. Back in the early 80s, I had two digital audio demo's where you would pus the start button on the computer, and the screen would blank and play roughly 10 seconds of digitized audio (although it sounded terrible) of a song. Who would have ever guessed back then that this would be the norn for listening to music years later. Anyhow, there were two of these demo's floating around back then, each taking up a full disk. One was "You Really Got Me Now" by Van Halen. The other was "Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison. I have Van Halen as an XEX file. Does anyone have Roy Orbison?
  20. I have seen your videos before. I really like them. Never realized it was you. Thank you, and please keep up the good reviews.
