    Beamraider, Activision prototype, NTSC

    http://axtelius.com/rare/DSC00013.JPG

    http://axtelius.com/rare/DSC00014.JPG

    --------------------------------------

Label unreadable, if you look really close you can see the word BeamRaider.

PCB inside says Activision C 83 and has a nice sun to the right of the logo.

Chipdates are 8337 for the EPROM and 8343 for the other chip.

The label that protects the eprom window has nothing written on it.

I assume the extra chip is a bankswitch/extra ram or something,

besides the date all it says is "MLEE1B"

    http://axtelius.com/rare/DSC00006.JPG

    --------------------------------------

Bought this as a loose PCB and later put it in a standard Activision case.

No date codes on the EPROM or the 7404.

    Label on EPROM says:

    "Activision, AG-020, 9/10/82"

Bought this as a loose PCB and later put it in a standard Activision case.

No date codes on the EPROM or the 7404.

    Label on EPROM says:

Bought this as a loose PCB and later put it in a standard Activision case.

Date on 7404 is 8248 and EPROM is from 1980.

Label on EPROM unreadable so I can't identify what game this is.

I bought this one together with the RR and SF and if I recall correclty is

was a prototype of a common Activision game.

    Joust, Atari, Lab loaner, NTSC

See picture, nothing more to say.

Ms. Pac Man, Atari prerelease cart, NTSC

    http://axtelius.com/rare/DSC00011.JPG

    http://axtelius.com/rare/DSC00012.JPG

    --------------------------------------

Blank end label (like most lab loaners).

Label says "Ms. Pac Man, EPROM, Cartridge". Size of the label is an exact

match of the Joust label and some of my other lab loaners.

Bought it from a guy who said he got it from he's dads friend, who (you

guessed it) worked for Atari, weeks before the official release.

Weight more then a normal cart which indicates eproms.

Off your rocker, Amiga, kind of a proto I guess

  4. Well, the Klaus part is true. He was the guy who started Atari in Germany and Europe.

He did sell the first 2600jr on EBay about a year ago and he also sold 2 really cool proto/demo carts they used for demonstrations.

I picked up the carts quite cheap but didn't buy the console (doh).

"It was obtained from a relative of Klaus Ollmann, former Managing Director of Atari Germany."

Hmm, doesn't sound quite right. I know for a fact that it was sold on ebay.de.

NPB? I don't know. I can ask Klaus if anyone is interested.

  5. Unfortunately I have the 2 port version :(

Umm, the 2 port version is the newer version. Did you mean to say that you had the 4 port version? :?

    Mitch

I was just to tired, yes it is the 2 port version I got, just didnt relize that the 2 port was the new version

Im gona disassemble it later today and start modifying.

  6. My plan was to take the videopart from an ordniary PAL 8bit Atari computer and put this in my NTSC 5200 but, reading the FAQ I found this:

There is space on the newer boards for circuitry for a PAL (European TV standard) version of the 5200.

Also, on power-up, the monitor program checks for the PAL version by examining the GTIA register PAL after step 2 of the initialization routine. It also checks the

cartridge program for PAL compatibility. The byte at $BFE7 should

read $02 if compatible, or $00 if not. This is the only important

    change to the monitor program.

Unfortunately I have the 2 port version :(

Could someone please take a picture of the MB is the 4 port version, I really would like to see what it looks like.

Also, is the PAL video out mentioned anywhere in the service manual?

And last, what happend to the 4 port bios? I can only find the 2 port.

    /frax

btw, who owns the 5200 PAL console proto.?? I REALLY would like to dump the games that was found along with it.
