Would you buy a licensed port of Putty Squad for the Atari Jaguar?
ovalbugmann replied to NinSEGA's topic in Atari Jaguar
Haha! I first read the title as "Potty Squad" for the jaguar's toilet. You know like a slightly different pronunciation of it: "Puhtty Squad" I was also thinking of Silly Putty! lol Anyways, It looks like it would be just right for the Jaguar and a colorful platformer. It's prolly fun as long as it's not as unforgiving as Bubsy. I voted: "Yes, because Putty Squad was decent for its time and would make a great addition to the Jaguar's library." And that Reboot should get the license for conversion and release, because Reboot Rocks. -
Playing this game right now, the cart version, it's kinda mediocre, and the floating around is sometimes hard to control but I want to do a full play through, since I always skipped over this game back in the day 'cause of the floating around bit.

Great news! I will buy a Harmony Encore when they are released! As well as a Concerto for the 7800 when that one is released as well! I've been gone a looong while and I'm glad to be back to visiting Atariage regularly. I'm catching up on a lot of missed threads, and if these two items have already been released here on AA someone please let me know where! I will be anxiously checking: http://harmony.atariage.com/Site/Harmony.html

Hi guys! I've been slowly reviewing all the threads I've missed recently to catch up on everything that's been going on since I was away -there's been a lot. Since Doom is one of the best games on the jag, and a personal favorite, I was just wondering if the AC2011 version of jagdoom 2 might be available anywhere for download??, I have the v98 one but wanted to try the AC2011 one so I could play the three levels not in vers. 98. Thanks for any leads that anyone might be able to share.

Looks like GroovyBee hasn't finished this project yet? Taking an extended break from it possibly? Would be cool to play Star Raiders on The Jag.

Hey!, I was wondering about that the other day dude. Yea, jagcf. I think the developer is prolly not putting a lotta effort into getting it released in the past few years. I know it was going to be able to do some things that the skunk can't, but maybe the developer feels there's no real need to release it now? idk I mean for the average person who just wants to load roms it prolly doesn't matter which one you'd have. I think it was going to be able to do some stuff with cinepak, would be cool. Or maybe life just stepped in on him and he's got it on the wayy back burner now lol. You never really know, but, naww sorry I don't think it's coming out for people to buy dude. Then again you could check out what's happening at Jagware in the past couple of years like I should do right now... And for all I know it may have already been released, and I missed the boat, in the few years years I was gone from here recently.

Well I got my own first computer in 1996, but didn't go online at home till 2004, so until I got the internet I used: 1-800-GO-ATARI pretty much exclusively to get the newer Jaguar stuff and items for Jag I wanted. What I would do is, I got on the mailing list for GoAtari, they would send me a catalog similar to the above pics, I would save up money usually $200-$300 usd and fill out the mail-in order form, get a corresponding Money Order from the store and send it in, wait a few weeks and then it's Jaguar Christmas presents for me! when the box came. Later, prolly after year 2000 I started phoning in my orders using a credit card. Also, I strongly agree with doctorclu in that there was a lot of mystery surrounding the Jaguar back then, a Jag fan was hard pressed to know was going on with the system. I suppose that was due to me being "late" to get onto the internet. And when I went to someone's house who had the internet, we were mostly looking at naked girls, and when I went to the library for internet it was for school or something else. I did see some Jaguar ads in magazines pre-2000 and that was about it man. If you weren't online you just did have all the information.

American Hero, any chance of completing it? Songbird?
ovalbugmann replied to 82-T/A's topic in Atari Jaguar
That would be great if someone with the knowhow made a more complete version of the game. I think the script and gamefilm backend? templates/routines exist as well as all the video for the game but there are some potential problems that I believe Glenn Bruner, Bruce Corso and others spoke about in finishing the game. Of course I took the JSII AH computer files dvd release and made it into a 3 cd cinepak movie for the Jaguar at JSII, so you could at least watch the movie - 'cause I could not locate the actual film anywhwere on the internet. I have noticed Timothy Bottoms in a few other films though, one of 'em was pretty good. I've also seen the guy Bottoms' character was talking to in the strip club in several other films. -
Yeah, I much prefer S-Video over traditional composite connection, it does really help the red bleeding. Got my Jag hooked up to a Sony LCD TV (120hrtz) To do it the best way, I'm using an Atari SCART connector ordered from France`, to a scart switcher with separated audio output(right to the TV) then to a SCART to Component(RGB) box outputting to the TV, as suggested by Remowilliams and it works very good no bleeding at all, it's the clearest connection I've ever had with the Jag. So I don't use the CatBox anymore or or Atari S-Video cable unless I bring the Jag to a friends' house that uses crt tv's still. It's nice having a perfectly clear picture,... there are two sides to this though, because most LCD tvs display resolution based on the input signal you can see the imperfections/blockyness more than the bleeding/softening produced on crt displays, but you quickly get used to how much clearer it looks on LCD and there's no cutting off of the picture. I also think the 100 inch projection TV! that Gunstar(i think) had his Jaguar hooked up to looked pretty cool as well. But, I completely understand wanting to play your Jaguar on only vintage/old skool displays(CRT) to really get the classic videogaming feel - and that is best with a 32" or larger CRT.

Awww! I wish this April fools joke was not a joke! This reminds me of that Jaguar multi-cart joke. I actually believed that was real for awhile.

That's great! 82-T/A - you were able to get in on the second run - congratulations! I am hoping there will be a 3rd run of Elansar Jaguar possibly by Christmas? Well we will see, I am now checking my emails at least once a day now so I don't miss out again from snoozing and losing. lol. Have a great Jaguar adventure!, to everyone that got an Elansar cart.

That's weird that it only works with the tab in front of the unit not clicked in as shown in the pics, the JagCD pass through board must somehow not be connecting right. That's not really too weird as some carts when plugged in and running will blank out if they are moved/rocked back and forth just a bit. Yeah, I guess the precision of the engineered Jaguar connections is not that good. Jag CD build quality: low, unfortunately. If Sam Tramiel wasn't as tight as the bark on a tree maybe we would have ended up with more precise connectors, but it's a kid's toy what can you do.

Time to press reset. Playing the Jag classics through from the start.
ovalbugmann replied to Gunstar's topic in Atari Jaguar
Good idea, Gunny! I am currently alternating playing Hover Strike (cart) & Iron Soldier (orig. cart) from beginning to end on normal difficulty as I have never played them totally through to the end yet. -
We're both going to feel a whole lot better when we finally get our fix of this new drug, AnotherWorld, for the Jaguar receptors in our brain. The Wow factor, excitement, rush, & feeling of satisfaction and enjoyment this escape from life's doldrums will provide. Yeah,.. I admit I am addicted to video games, that's for sure - a real game boy. lol
-
Ok! Thanks 82-T/A - Good to know that, as there are times where I only check my email every couple of days and with my luck I may get an email late. I'll be making sure I at least scan my emails once a day then to not miss Orion_'s "it's ready!" email. I think I might have stress/anxiety problems and sometimes I feel weird for going this crazy over a video game, lol. I might be sublamating and have arrested development too.
-
Hello, I am on waiting list - can someone tell me how people on the AnotherWorld pre-order list will be notified by RGC when the 2nd run is ready? PMs, email, or this thread? I don't want to miss my mark as my copy will then go to someone else. Thanks for reply.
-
Ok, so I missed the second run, Dammit! Is this because you said as soon as you announced the second run would soon be available you got another 20 people wanting in on the second run and you only have 20-30 available and I put my second run request in too late? Then why wasn't I informed there would not be enough for everybody on the second run requests list and I would have to race to the order/payfor it page before sellout, at 5AM Arizona time, while fighting against order time errors, when you folks in Europe are just getting into the afternoon. Or have I just missed the announcement or email saying I can go pay for it now? Maybe I'm not quick enough to act or missed email or PM. Can someone here tell me: after I put in my pre-order request to Orion_ for the 3rd run what do I look for? Am I looking for a PM here or an email to me or am I just looking for an announcement to this thread that they are available first come first serve at the order page?

Yeah, highly temperamental is the word to describe the Jaguar CD. Also they sometimes lock up when they get too hot. I think aside from the mediocre build quality a lot of the problems come from the proprietary CD formatting Atari used - to get that 790MB per disc they forfeited a lot of the CD error correcting and checks and balances and any redundancy in the boot code part of the disc. Add in scratches and the age of discs now and there's gonna be problems like you never imagined. Sometimes you have to fight it get it to play something. But as long as a disc doesn't make it constantly load, reading discs endlessly it works better. That's why cinepak videos on the player are many times tough to play all the way through. Many discs available for JagCD to burn have a bit of code to stop the disc spinning once the code is loaded up and start again if the next block of code is needed. It's really not at all reliable, but still cool I think. Most of the time I leave it attached, then I want to see the original boot up routine and remove the player.

downfall+ cartridge release :: initial info, background and story
ovalbugmann replied to sh3-rg's topic in Atari Jaguar
You should be getting that shipment soon I would think, as long as it doesn't bounce too much and they send it back to sender, that would not be best. Yuup! definitely understand how you feel. Sometimes for me it's hard to balance everything in life and not let things slide or put them off as I tend to do. Also, I seem to be isolated and in my own little computer world sometimes a lot. What they say is right, There really is not many second chances in life and it sucks living with regret of missed opportunities. That's why I'm trying to stay in touch with everyone(Got Galaxy S3 last year) and NOT keep stuff on the back burner for too long, I try to do a little bit of everything I need to do all the time. All I had to do is take a few minutes and check in here on Atariage once or twice a month at least.. and I wouldn't have missed anything prolly, but getting caught up in all the other stuff going on and my ocd "all or nothing" attitude really didn't help to have a balanced life. Now, coming through a rather severe medical problem, I have seen where I'm messing up, I now have ocd Jaguar collecting under control, am pharma drug free and realize the importance of staying connected to all the people I know. -
