Nice detailed picture on that display, cool little monitor, and that ship interior kinda looks like a face.

You don't need a special BJL Jaguar, Protector SE or Belboz's BJL burnable CD image will work. Then Rick Deftlson's (More than Games site) BJL adaptor and a printer cable - a male DB25 to female DB25 shielded 3 or 6 foot cable and preferably a windows 95 or 98 computer. Although I was reading here some people use XP. But no special Jaguar is needed.

Just saw the Youtube videos of the two Jagcode 500 entries; Tursi: Your coding on the Dreamcast has made you a very proficient coder, and it shows on your first Jag effort. Good demo but those sound effects don't Rawk. Cool Star Wars trench fighting, and the spinning earth looks nice, but no explosions? Orion_ : The Grand Teton National Park background photo from Webshots looks fantastic! Very real and "hi res!" Haven't played it yet, and the levels look quite short but it's a cool little platformer. Thanks to both of you, I now have something new to try on the Jag with bjl. Thanks!

-none- Oh No, WTF, bunkorama, that sucks shit, what happened? maybe,... You think nobody will truly appreciate it?, pirates?, professional work contract?, there are a few assholes that will give you shit and make you wish you never released anything? Growing out of the Jaguar scene and all it's bullshit and don't feel like it's worth it to do Gorf 3D or +? Well, at least we have Gorf classic.

Sounds about right. I bought one recently for $16.49 on ebay. + shipping of course so it was about $19.79 Total.

I like Blue Lightning's mindless violence and destruction and blowing up of tanks, trucks, buildings, ships, weapons batteries, helicopters and planes, especially at night after a stressful workday. If some of you don't like it, well don't play it, don't bitch about it. And just like with movie reviews, they don't mean shit it's just someone's opinion, and you know what they say about opinions - everybody got one . Validate your opinions with at least one reason of your own for disliking, so the reader can say; OK, yeah, that's true dude, you have a valid point for your negative statement to stand on, but don't quote a review percentage. Because just like with movie reviews if Ebert & Roper say, "this is a mindless violent nonsensical movie with no plot, rampent unwarrented nudity, and runs for far to long because of poor editing so we give it a two thumbs down" Well then, I know this movie is going to be great! and will try to see it. It's all about opinions, yours is not mine, and neither is "correct." Just give a reason (even if we have heard it before) so you don't appear negative and judgmental.

anyone bought any of these white repro box inserts?
ovalbugmann replied to Zwackery's topic in Atari Jaguar
The inserts help the boxes from being crushed so easily, the artwork on the boxes, is vintage videogame art of asthetic value to collectors and vastly increases the return at resale, if needed. It is also enjoyable and interesting to look at, so the white inserts help preserve the game box shape more. I also keep all my Jag cartridges in a separate box all together, so I don't have to open a game box everytime I want to play, and it keeps the box top from eventually falling off. Everybody's different man; some people keep all Jaguar releated materials that they buy, and some people couldn't give a shit about any friggin' stupid boxes or manuals and just chuck 'em. You own it and can do anything you want with it. Neither is better or right, you do what is best for you. Like I said I and many others keep their boxes and games separate for easy game access. Most adamant Jaguar owners play their games several times a week or more, and since we have had many of the same games since '95 they have all been played many many times for years on end, dude. -
Cool!, thanks for the links, also when your Errievale novel is ready for it's initial gleaming upon by curious eyes, please see if you can get an English translation of it done so Britains, and Americans can also enjoy your writings of EerieVale. I eventually would like it as a companion to the Jaguar program by the same name that you have been working on for the past several years. Cheers

The B&C WTR F1 2-disc Beta set is great! They are both very playable and have excellent frame rates, I reallly like WTR so I bought the F1 set and was very pleased. They are unencrypted so you need some kind of bypass cart; B&C's Bypass cart, Protector SE, or Battlesphere Gold to make 'em run on the Jaguar. The cars handle very well in these betas just like in WTR and that makes them enjoyable to play, also you get to see some development progression of the game and how they build on the program to make the final product. F1 Racer 2-disc set =

Anyone else having JSII access problems, tonite?
-
Umm, I'm having trouble accessing JSII right now, I don't know if the problem is with my ISP or Jason's ISP for the JSII forums, here is the error I get when trying to goto JSII:

Why would you want to do that,.... because it is sensitive and may eventually need repair? or doesn't offer enough to justify the $75.00 and up prices for it? You have kids and it could easily get broken? You just like cartridges better? The JagCD is a neat little toy to have for the Jaguar, and is the crowning hardware jewel of the system. The VLM alone puts me into a relaxing trance after long hours at my stressful job. The unit has almost as many or more programs to run from it than the base unit. Don't be biased against the JaguarCD, Atari meant for it to take us into the future as read on the back of the base unit box. I think Jaguar hardware is just as interesting as the software and what if when you decide to get a CD-ROM Drive for your Jaguar they are even more rare than now and much higher in price - that probably will happen; as they stop working and people throw them out because they don't know how to fix them. (Many can be fixed by replacing the CD Pickup - a Phillips CDM12.1) You are really missing a lot of cool games, here is a mostly complete up to date list compiled by Kevincal: (Kev: hope you don't mind me quoting your JSII post here on AA- let me know if you do mind, but looking at how far we have come since the original 13 Atari JagCD's makes me happy about all the support the community has given the unit.) (not all are playable on the JagCD, but are Jaguar relavent) Atari Jaguar CD unit Software & PC- CDs - 71+ CDs ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- more........???
-
The JagCD is a really a cool CD-ROM Drive addition to the Jaguar, it has a VLM lightshow, CD+G capability along with FMV & AudioCDs, and can run unencrypted homebrew games (with Protector SE), has fastloading times - and can play large, in depth games like BattleMorph.

kmart/walmart vesions of skycopter on same cart?also speedster2?
ovalbugmann replied to BuddyBuddies's topic in Atari Jaguar
Wow Man! I wish I had SpeedsterII & Skycopter. Nice. -
Sounds like a cool game!, yeah I change my vote, we need a Fatal Run update on the Jag!

Hey that's cool, it's all good. Using the Jaguar & Dreamcast all the time, I've actually been drawn more to PC games recently because of the better graphics, higher resolution, more complex games. I have been trying to figure out how to use my ICD catbox's RGB conection (a DB9) to increase resolution and clarity, but I need a color monitor that can sync down to the required 15Khz horizontal scanning that the Jaguar requires. Haven't found anything yet, to make my monitor do that. Anyway's I've been playing some slightly older PC games recently and enjoying the higher resolution and graphics, Doom3 & the Resurrection of Evil expansion pack, AvP & AvP2 for PC, Medal of Honor-Pacific Assult, Some Tom Clancy games and Area 51. I'm using a Logitech cordless 2.4 Ghz controller because I'm used to controllers rather than a keyboard. All the PC games have been a real nice experience, much different than consoles.

Yeah we were talking to him late last year, if I'm thinking of the right guy, he was very optimistic at getting something done for the Jag.
-
about! $5.45 in US Dollars! WoooooHooooo..... of course shipping from the UK will probably be around $5 pounds which is $10 dollars added on to it. I might be able to swing that. lol That's like finding a BattleSphere cart at the thrift store! I hope it stays LOOOWW.
-
I hope you find the source code! I would change the way Bubsy gets killed on one touch, and give him a health meter or something, like in the other Bubsy games not on the Jag.

I've had my same Jaguar base unit/AC adaptors/controllers since November of 1994 and use it quite regularly, They are built excellent by IBM and JVC. If you don't plug in the wrong power supply of jarr them with hits, falls, impacts or take them out in freezing weather then bring it in a warm house because condensation can form. Maybe you live in a wet, humid part of the world. The Jaguar should last a long ass time, Integrated Circuit dissolution (disintegration and melding of fine metals inside the cilicon jacket) is said to start happening after 100 years, although they really don't know because chips haven't been around that long. . Could be true, since the more complex something is the more there is to go wrong, and the Heavy Sixers PCBs were fully encased in thick cast metal. I live in the Hot desert and mine works great, although I can feel it gets warm sometimes, when the AC isn't on in the summer or I have a window open. The Jaguar is not a clunky, (old - yes) plastic thing, it's one of the smallest consoles out there, besides Dreamcast. Sounds to me like your not a console player - for sure. Well, your computer is going to be a large clunky thing in about five years if you don't get a new one by then and trash the old one. It just depends on how they've been treated as I said: IC's can last a supposed 100 years! Some Jagfans keep the carboard box because it can add value at resale and is part of commercial video game pioneers ' Atari history. Some Jaguar fans are fanatic about it though. I'm not trying to be a dick or nitpick but just give you a different way of looking at the Jaguar, because clunky implies bulky and large which the Jaguar is not, although it has a plastic case as does your flatscreen computer monitor. I can understand you only want to play emulators on your computer and not use real consoles, for space reasons? for keeping an uncluttered look to your AV area? or maybe you prefer the higher video capabilities of PC's? but some people prefer the feel and play on a real console, whether it be XBOX or Jaguar.

There was some talk on JSII about IS3 for the Jaguar, a key person working on IS4 (or trying to get the company to do it) is developing a multiplatform tool/devunit to easily convert the code to different systems and IS3 is probably able to run on the Jag with modifiaction. (dan h - on JSII?)

Unbelievable! Maybe one day the word BattleSphere won't hold such contempt for some people in the Jaguar community. Orion_ : English language nuances and slang are sometimes tricky, however "shit" can used to describe anything, it's just slang, "the best shit" means : The Best "Stuff" or in this case "the best game." It is not to be taken literally.

Although, It would have been great to see backwards compatability for the Jag to play 2600, 5200, or 7800 games or simply a series Jag cartridges with ports from these systems, but I voted for a update of Double Dragon for the Jag.
