Hello everyone
I made some cool ET signs out of some left over black and woodgrain sheet aluminum composite stock I purchased from a Library I machined the parts for last year. I think they turned out pretty good. ET always gets such a bad rap...It was straight up one of my favorite games growing up though so I like it. I make lots of ET stuff haha 🙂
If you already know what these signs are about you don't need to read the following, but if not, please read on...
These signs are made from 100% aluminum composite material. It is crazy expensive (like $6-$10 a square foot!!) but I get the materials at a discounted price as they are leftovers from construction jobs I have machined the parts for. They are industrial grade building materials that are professionally painted the same quality an automobile is painted at the factory. They are then CNC machined by yours truly. They are fully weather treated and can withstand the harshest climates (I've had several hanging outside for 10+ years now in severe MN weather with zero problems, they still look new) They are around the length of a decent sized penis at 9 inches. They are heavy duty, don't let the low price fool you, they are high quality~!
It's not a big money making operation, if I calculated what I made on them (which I purposely do not lol) it would probably be around $5 an hour or so. I just do it for fun and bragging rights. I was at a classic gaming show once and someone I've never met before said "hey, that's the guy that makes the cool signs" I couldn't stop smiling...
Seriously, I really enjoy making this stuff.
Price is $15 for the sign plus $8 shipping (flat rate, these are heavy duty signs) priority with tracking and insurance.
If you want a bunch,or have a cool idea/etc let me know, we can work something out. I'm probably the only machinist out there that will make you a custom one off sign for like 20 bucks so go for it man!! You deserve it
Thanks everybody!!

I never even thought of that... we still use land lines at my house but most kids don't have one anymore.
What I hate about cell phones is they are not very satisfying to hang up after an argument. Nothing beats jamming that handle down on the receiver and storming off. Just doesn't have the same feeling with a cell phone haha

My grandmother got sick and tired of us running up the bills (when it used to cost an arm and a leg to call outside of your county!) and put one of those rotary locks on the phone that would not allow it to move beyond the finger stopper. Well, it didn't take me long to discover that tapping the hang up button as many times as a number was would perform the same function as the pulse dial...and I was still able to call people. She couldn't figure out how I was doing it
Ha, I totally remember that 70s green color. Entire kitchens, cars and anything you could imagine had it for a few years there
Here is mine...

Red phones typically only sold to commercial envirnoments (offices, etc) as emergency phones. This phone was just that. It came from my company's "help" phone to immediately contact security in the early days.
I was helping someone recently clear a house after her sister passed. She told me I could take whatever as it was all getting tossed. I saw a black rotary (probably 50's-60's) and went for it first. But no, she said "however the phone is mine!" and it was the only item I could not take!
Ha! Had no idea. I still use a rotary phone...it's not my main phone of course but it's functional and still in use (basement phone)

Are these actually worth money? What about rotary phones? I still have a few...

Dude...weak. Glad I waited. Thanks for the heads up!

Somewhat, I don't have a laser or plasma cutter (just a CNC router) so I have to use, at a minimum,1/8" graphite bits. This makes "small stuff" not as possible since I need at least 1/8th inch in between every cut/etc...

hahaha, yeah... You should have seen it before I started peeling the signs off. I hung so many on it the door wouldn't open anymore so I've been slowly removing them
I really should have took a picture...

Video Game Critic has been around for a LONG time...and I mean a LOOOOOOOONG time! Some of his reviews are more "in depth" than others and he doesn't just hand the "A" grades out (I've seen him give "decent" homebrew games an F grade before)

Hey everyone! How's it going? During my absence I received several PM's for my TI99 aluminum signs (more than any other sign!) so I made a quick small batch if anyone needs one. I had to use the materials I had on hand so they are Bright Silver metallic flake with a deep red (our shop moved so I don't have access to the abundance of materials I used to) I think they turned out pretty cool looking

Let me know if you need one! I made like 5 or so, could probably even make a few more if demand is there. Thanks everyone!

Interesting...I just assumed Lynx due to the smaller size. I'll take some better pics of the PCB,etc tonight after work.
-
Found this in a box of my friends stuff. I have no lynx to test it, just curious if anyone can tell what game it is? Hoping the "skull tape" might be a clue, maybe a homebrew? If not no big deal, I'll be talking to him soon. Just wondering if it's something special enough that is worth tracking down a Lynx to play it before I have to ship it off to him.

I wanted this game so bad when I was a kid...

Nice! I'm in for one
