That's oddly specific I left an Asteroids box (with a few others, was so excited I opened them up on the way home from the store) in the back window of my Dads Nova back in the 80's and thats how it looked, he smoked back then too. For all I know that could be one of my old games, I doubt it though, I think we threw most of the boxes away....can't remember

Would anyone mind comparing 5200 M.U.L.E. to the NES version?
Crazy Climber replied to courtesi's topic in Atari 5200

Repro's don't count as an original, obviously.... It's cool to have them though to fill the holes in your collection though. Look at it this way, if your goal is to collect every 2600 game then you really have a lot of time to do it. Who knows the future of this hobby, Cubicolor might go for a grand now but maybe a hundred in 20 years (although I doubt it) but you can use the repro's to fill the holes you have now and buy a rare one every couple years or so. $350 for Malagai might seem like a lot but if you put a dollar in a can every day instead of buying a Pepsi you could have a copy of Malagai in a year and replace your repro, just an idea, you don't have to collect every game overnight

If your not in a finacial situation to ever have multiple thousands of dollars to dump on said games AND just want them to have them to play, then sure they can count. It's all about real value of them when you think about it. A retail Gauntlet is worth $1000 dollars where as a repro is worth it's play value\the $20 bucks (or less) someone charges you to burn it to a cart for ya Show me an actual Gauntlet for $1000 and I will buy it, AFAIK it's more like 2k to 3k Unless you are counting the Pleasant Valley Video or a Naked one.

I emailed the guy about it and he was dismissive, rude and pretty much a pr** about the matter. He knows it is shady, what he is doing, but I am no rat. Somebody with a bigger beef against rip-off artists might, though. If he is rude about it then I would say report him, I tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt but it sounds like he is just what everybody thought, someone who trys to make a quick buck of people that don't know any better Someone should narc on him.

Looks like someone left it in the back window of a Chevy Nova on a hot day.

It's obvious what is going on, not much intrigue value. This happens quite often and unfortunately people do end up paying more than what something should be worth for a better lack of knowledge. This is what happens when a seller gets greedy. Unfortunately, it could even be a current or new lurking AA member trying to hide behind the cover of a new user ID on eBay doing this, because if an existing member did this out in public they would probably get blasted by the community. It's hard to sell repros on Ebay though, if you mention it's a repro they pull it. I think the best thing to do is just sell them in forums, that way no one gets taking advantage of.

I think it was an accident, theres a thread about "flipping" stuff right now, my guess is it was intended for that one -

I didn't know this newsletter exsisted, how would one go about subscribing to it? -
I would like someone to make a hack called "Journey Returns'' You are the band Journey and you have returned to the stage but it won't be easy, you have to dodge the Tomato throwing fans, skanky bar hags and shifty eyed bill collectors while you attemt to locate your broken down tour bus.

I haven't found any differences with it from Air Raiders, it's the exact same game as far as I can tell and as far as I have heard. Mattel changed the name at the last minute, I have no idea why. The label variation is a cool addition to the collection though, theres not to many of them around

Grey NES Zapper
Crazy Climber replied to ewing92's topic in Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) / Famicom
About 3 years ago they had piles of grey zappers at Gamestop's for a buck a piece, I don't think they are to horribly rare. -
I thought I remembered a guy doing some kind of HB or Hack about KISS but never completing it, it might have just been an idea? I'm not sure though, a search would probably uncover some answers

How long do you have to wait before it's not flipping
Crazy Climber replied to homerwannabee's topic in Auction Central
Ebay loves re sellers, more fees means more $$$ I think he is talking about how some people have a problem with re selling things because they think it's un fair to people or something along those lines, I dunno -

Crazy Climber replied to homerwannabee's topic in Auction Central
If you sell it for the same price or less then it's not really flipping, just means you don't want it anymore. I do that all the time (I impluse buy a lot of stuff I end up not really using) If you are selling it for more to make a profit then you are a re seller, something I have personally never had a problem with. If someone buys something cheap and wants to sell it for more why the hell should I care, just my opinion. -
Go with the one on the right, looks much cooler and you can stack a bunch of them together. But where to find them... I found an extra one I'll sell you for 10 bucks if you are interested

I think he said that he was not revealing the name out of respect for privacy reasons. Although I am happy a new game has been found. I just realized something. My lifetime goal of collecting every released game in the U.S. has been shattered. In fact I think this cart has officially shattered a lot of peoples lifetime complete collection goals. The only thing I can hope for now is if this is sold on ebay and this goes for a huge amount of money and it gets a lot of publicity. Than maybe a couple of more will become known. I have been worried about this. Because i am at a point where there are not too many left to go and the ones that are 1K and up are left i knew id never get em all. Just do repros for the really rare stuff. Spending several thousand on an Atari cart is just not practical for most of us

I don't even own a 5200 yet, looks like I have some work to do

Around a jillion or so I seriously have no idea, several hundred. Do repro's count?

Go with the one on the right, looks much cooler and you can stack a bunch of them together. But where to find them... These are actually kind of hard to find, it's not that they are rare or worth a lot, collectors just use them and tend to buy them when they see them. Same with game binders. Keep your eyes open, they turn up. Usually on Ebay but you will have to buy 10 or so commons with it. There was a guy on here a few months ago with like 30 of them but he wanted to sell them all as a lot. You can check the old Marketplace posts and see if he still has them, if so he would probably split them up by now

ATARI 2600 LOOPING LIMITED TO 250
Crazy Climber replied to duncantoml's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I always thought of them as limited edition reproductions The makers kind of create a false rarity by limiting the number produced but it also helps sell them faster and at $30 a pop it probably wasn't a huge money making operation originally. Does anyone even own the rights to make this game? I guess what I'm getting at is couldn't someone with the knowledge to make boxed reproductions pump out another run of 50 or so or does the owner of the proto get exclusive rights to that? I suppose they would maybe own the rights to the box design? This box is just a shot of the coin-op though and is like all the Coleco games released so they borrowed the idea from Coleco anyways. I guess I don't understand why this is rare when someone could just make more, maybe the original copys are numbered? I don't know
