Just got back .. Bought an Atari 2600 (Woody) with PSU , 2 joysticks and games : Fast Food , M*A*S*H , Marine Wars , Bugs , Strategy X , Frankenstien`s Monster , Demolition Herby , Centipede , Asteroids and Pac-Man & Defender . It cost me like Lm3.00 (About $8 USD) -
I`d say dissapointed and not dissapointed at the same time . Remember that i couldn`t prove it is authentic although i am 99% sure , i didn`t have the courage to open the cart because i was scared i`d damage it . (I`m no expert on the 2600) . But not being 100% sure and not having paypal worked to my disadvantage . Not dissapointed because it cost me almost nothing . I went to a car boot sale and bought a box containing about 6 atari 2600 carts , 4 atari xe/xl carts , 4 c64 carts , over 30 commodore 64 games , a working commodore c64c with manuals , tape drive , all cables and psu , some joysticks and some spectrum accessories for the equivelant of a mere $10 USD .

You have a flat screen CRT, like me. They run both NTSC and PAL, and the color differences will be say, if running a PAL game on NTSC tv like that, the colors will be different and vice versa. The game is NTSC Yeah , infact the TV has PAL and NTSC options like you said . My Atari is a PAL UK model but the game being NTSC displayed the green because of the PAL .

Thank you .. I feel much much more convinced now

I wouldn`t know if there is actually a screw , but there is some sort of hole under the label , under the words "RETURN TO" in the middle . The sticker with "COCA-COLA" has the left side with square edges and the right side with rounded edges . The label definatly looks genuine and although in great condition shows age . In Malta there isn`t any retro scene and very few collectors , so i have absolutaly no idea where this cart came from .
-
I believe there is a screw under the lable but i don`t wanna tear it . TBH i`ve never opened a 2600 cart before .
-
CPUWIZ , you are a moderator . From the picture does it look genuine ? I won`t open the cart because i heard it is difficult and i don`t want to damage the label
-
Could it be something to do with the region ? You saw the cart pic . I have no reason to believe it isn`t genuine because it came with a lot i bought from a carboot sale and the box was full of old spectrum , atari and commodore 64 stuff What I am getting at, is the fact that it is a NTSC cart, that mysteriously made it's way all the way to Europe somehow. Yeah strange , but i`m not complaining Might have been brought over to somebody at the coca cola factory in Malta or something like some executive from the states might have brought it over .

http://www.atariage.com/2600/archives/cons...l?SystemID=2600 Atari 2600 ---------- Cartridges are compatible, no lockout chips. However, the cartridge tells the 2600 when to generate TV line sync pulses. This means that using an NTSC cartridge in a PAL console, or vice versa, will cause synch pulses to be generated at the wrong frequency. The net effect of this is that some TVs will "roll" the picture, and may need the vertical hold control to be adjusted. Some TVs will handle the incorrect synch frequency transparently though. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My TV is multisystem and can handle both PAL & NTSC
-
From what i have read , NTSC carts will run on a PAL machine
-
Here is a pic of the cart inside the atari
-
Ok here is a pic of it running on my tv
-
Yeah , i can accept credit cards actually but not through paypal , but from the credit card machine at work I`d better mention it on the auction . I`ll set up my atari and take a pic , soon .
-
Yes i tested it in Malta .. The TV sets are PAL like the UK but i think there is a slight differnce in the PAL system . I know that i have a 2600 bought from UK and it doesn`t give me any sound on my TV but picture is perfect . The same with an Atari Jaguar and Mastersystem from UK . Great picture but no sound .

I`ve had a go on ebay .... Screw it i tried a 7 day listing . If anyone wants to bid good luck . Unfortunatly i cannot accept paypal as Malta cannot recieve payments . Ebay listing Thanks
