  1. It so hard imagine them not making big profits. Think of all of the channels that aren't monetized but ads still play on them. I guess its always possible that they are bloated with to many employees that are getting paid but not really producing for the company. $31.5 billion? Frankly I'm surprised that it's not higher than that.
  2. River Patrol 5080 Threshold 4190 Jawbreaker 14320
  3. Thanks for this it's bookmarked. But you're right I think Stella has this info also.
  4. I checked the AA Rarity guide but I didn't see anything for this information. This info would be useful for many of the carts from the good ole days:)
  5. Thanks man. If Alien is a 4K cart and I'm assuming that it is that again just shows how bad Pac-Man was back then.
  6. That's exactly what Mr. Sherman the gentlemen I was talking about in the video was saying back in 1982-83. He was saying that the game was literally broken and that it was impossible to hit the targets from certain firing positions. There was an old magazine article with the head of Apollo Games someone posted in the forum a while back. In the article he brags about the great sales that Skeet Shoot had. Just imagine the looks on all of those faces when they first played this game. Skeet Shoot is a 4K title that wouldn't have cut it as an VCS original release in 1977 when all of the games were on 2K at the time. And thanks for your compliment on the video. It really is fun to put them together and talk about this old stuff:)
  7. I had never played any of these games except for Alien but I was pleasantly surprised by Jawbreaker. I'd never played any other games by Tigervision either. Alien 20th Century Fox Jawbreaker Tigervision Lock N Chase M-Network Mouse Trap Coleco Shark Attack Apollo Games
  8. Ledzep, I'll go along that on certain games the non centering wasn't a big deal. I remember playing Space Dungeon with the coupler and the joysticks worked very well on that game. They worked fine with one of my favorite Atari 5200 games Star Raiders. But on games where you needed short precise movements or to start or stop in small increments they were terrible. I remember them causing numerous deaths while playing Miner2049. I recently played Miner2049 on the Altirra emulator with a good ole CX-40 and it was awesome. It would have been cool if they could have come up with an adapter that would somehow let you use a CX-40 and maybe also have a keypad option kind of like a nicer version of the 2600 Star Raiders gamepad.
  9. I know I'm beating a dead horse but they should have done something about those joysticks. I remember the neighbors having to buy replacements and they weren't cheap back then. Even if everything else would have worked out those controllers were such a detriment to the system as a whole.
  10. Man, she is still alive. She is 87 years old.
  11. If your playing a variation that is the same as the arcade then no you can't kill Evil Otto. I know the 2600 port has an option were you can kill him but I don't know if the 5200 has that option.
  12. The kids I was friends with next door got a 5200 for Christmas in 1982 and I got a Colecovision. So I was able to experience both systems to the max. The 5200 definitely had some cool arcade ports that looked top notch but I'll never understand why Atari included Breakout as the pack in game with the system. Donkey Kong came with the Colecovision and that was HUGE at the time. Atari should have included Pac-Man with the 5200. Star Raiders was one of the coolest games I ever played back then. Both systems had bad controllers but the Colecovisions held up way better than the 5200's did. If I had it to do over again I would still take the Colecovision but it's a pretty close race.
  13. I think they started in 1981 and filed for bankruptcy in 1983.
  14. There are many bad, bad games for the 2600 and I haven't experienced them all but it's hard to imagine something being much worse than Skeet Shoot. Part of my decision was also based on the fact Apollo games actually did advertise in gaming magazines back then. Many of these fly by night companies that pumped out these shitters never really promoted them very much.
  15. If he ever builds a tolerance make him play Skeet Shoot by Apollo Games. He would probably prefer a woodshed spanking to that torture:)
  16. Hello, I hope you all are having a good start to your week. For my list I have the following guidelines. The games I selected have to be from the era when the 2600 was a common gaming console so we are talking late 70s to the early to mid 80's. No newer releases or released home brews from more recent times. I personally had to actually play the game back in it's time when it was relevant to the marketplace. There are plenty of crappy games to choose from but I didn't play most of them back then so I'm not going to include them as options in my list. I'd love to hear what your own worst experiences or disappointments were when you played with the 2600 or any other console from that era. Thanks:) Gen-X-Memories Presents Bigfriendly's Top 5 Worst 2600 Games
  17. Unfortunately, I got the same result when using 4.30😞 Star Raiders Bug.mp4
  18. Thanks for your response. OK, in the attached pics if I'm reading it correctly the # aka the pound key on the bottom right is the button to press to select control mode in the game. When I do this in the emulator the game freezes up. I've tried mapping it to different keys on my keyboard and the game always locks up. Now it works when you first boot the game up because you also use that key to select the difficulty level novice, pilot etc. But after you start the game when you press it, it just freezes the screen. Could this be a bug or glitch in the program? I'm using Windows 11.
  19. I mapped the elevators to the numbers pad 1-4 keys on my laptop and it works perfectly for me. Because of the centering of the controller Bounty Bob stands perfectly still while I select the floor I want to teleport too.
  20. First time I've played this game since 1984 or maybe 85. It really is a dream come true when compared to the original non centering hack 5200 controllers. This Altirra emulator is really cool. Now if I can just figure out how to set the controls for Star Raiders I'll be set.
  21. I tinkered with this thing for a long time yesterday and I finally started to figure things out when it comes to mapping the controller. I wanted to use my regular CX-40 with 5200 games and map the other buttons to the keyboard. On games that are simple like Joust and Berzerk when you only need a joystick and one button to play I figured those out. However, Star Raiders is a totally different beast altogether. I haven't played Star Raiders in probably about 40 years so I have been looking at the manual online to try to figure things out. When I start my game I can't get to the point where I turn on my shields, attack computer etc. All of the number keys just change the speed that your engines are running when you first start the game. I noticed when I looked at the joystick insert that the engine speed 1-9 and all of the other ship commands are on the number pad so there must be a button in the game that switches from the engines to the other options on the controller so you can power up your computer, shields etc. I must be missing something and damn it I'm going to figure it out. As you can tell I'm not a techie type so it takes me a bit longer but this emulator does seem pretty deep and kick ass. Has anybody ever used this to emulate the 7800 before?
  22. I hadn't played it in over 40 years and it's a lot worse than what I remembered. Yes, your character makes a slug look quick.
  23. Every so often I've noticed a thread will pop up that is from way back in the past and I like it when this happens. Do some of you on occasion just decide to dig deep to see what you may find?
