Or maybe Mythicon somehow obtained the SNES or N64 Star Fox from the future and brainwashed the reviewer into thinking that it was the same game as the 2600 Star Fox.

I felt the same way about the red label re-releases of Venture, Mouse Trap, Donkey Kong, and Donkey Kong Jr.

rom hacks to support 2 buttons with genesis controllers
BrianC replied to RevEng's topic in Atari 2600 Hacks
I was playing the Asteroids hack and found something interesting. It seems the second button is hyperspace no matter what, even on other variations like shields. I like having both shields and hyperspace. Was this intentional? edit: nm. read the second post -
At least there's a much better (and completely unrelated) game called Star Fox on SNES. Funny how the spacecraft in the art bears a slight resemblance to the Arwing.

Impressive stuff. I was looking for more homebrews and I just found out about Project Z thanks to this thread. I found the thread with it and like it quite a bit so far.

The difference is that the original Jr. Pac-Man used a scrolling screen and the original Pac-Man was designed around a static screen. However, the GB Pac-Man has a full screen mode (a bit small, but it works). I like it, but I prefer the GBC version since it's the same game, but in color. Despite the similar look, it has some differences from the NES version in sound and in gameplay (the game gets to the point where the energizers don't do anything on GB and that doesn't seem to be the case with the NES version). The Tengen Ms. Pac-Man isn't any indication since it was done by Tengen themselves (actually from the designer of the arcade Crystal Castles) and Pac-Man was programmed by Namco. I like both quite a bit, though. My vote goes to the CV version, however. As far as BITD ports, NES gets my vote (and it was originally made in 1984, one of Namco's first FC games).

Too bad the 7800 RS Baseball is more like the 2600 version than the 5200 one. I like the 5200 one much better. Not to mention "Super" Baseball that's nothing more than a slightly altered version of RS Baseball rather than the improvement it should have been.

I usually use Genesis pads and sticks since the game is compatible with 1 button controllers. The holder looks awesome, though.

Asteroids - One of the first games made for the system and does a good job showing off the graphics and multiple objects on screen. Ballblazer - One of two released games to use the Pokey chip for excellent sound, as well as being a fine port with smooth pseudo 3D. Food Fight - One of the best and most popular games on the system.

I don't remember if I posted Burgertime in this thread, but I didn't like it at first. I played it again and I like it better now. AI is better than I remembered and I found it to be pretty good despite its shortcomings. It still keeps a lot of the elements intact and I found it fun to play, though I still like the CV and Intellivision versions better. Space Attack is a good port of the Inty Space Battle and definitely much better on the harder difficulty. At least it's not like some of the early Inty versions where you are stuck with the game being too easy no matter what. Too bad the enemy ships no longer resemble Cylon radiers.

Slightly OT, but I was hoping this topic would be about the early defender prototype for Atari 8 bit. I couldn't find any info on it in the forums and I was wondering if there was a way to hyperspace in that version.

I think part of the problem with the Genesis Turrican is that it, as far as I know, hasn't been properly optimized for 60 Hz and plays too fast on US systems. I haven't tested on PAL (emulator or otherwise) since I don't have a PAL system or TV to support it, but it does seem to run faster than it should. Mega Turrican, on the other hand, was done by Factor 5 themselves, and seems to have been properly optimized for NTSC.

It's the 5200 Kangaroo that controls bad, but that's not the fault of the game itself and could be remedied with the right joystick. I like the 2600 port quite a bit, though I miss the tower of monkeys screen. Did you know the arcade game was designed by Sunsoft?

Asterix seems to have been more popular in Canada for some reason, which I think is the reason of the NTSC versions. As far as I know, they get a lot of Asterix stuff that we don't. I remember seeing a Canadian version of one of the movies on Amazon and one of the EU Asterix SMS games may have been sold there too. I'm not so sure about Taz not being popular in Europe. I thought Looney Tunes were popular worldwide.

Games that deserved to have an intellivision port.
BrianC replied to Prosystemsearch's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Not to mention that there's also a Space Invaders clone on Intellivision called Space Armada. Games I would like to see on Intellivision: Jr. Pac-Man Super Pac-Man Bagman Dig Dug II Xevious Pac-Man Plus Tapper Joust Side Pocket Karate Champ Kung Fu Master Millipede -
My vote is 7800 for favorite port. I love the way flapping works in that version. I also like the GBC (different from the b/w GB) and Genesis versions.

It's not just you. I had the same problem as well.

Nice update. I like how 2 enemies appear on the platform rather than turning away when another is on the platform like the original 2600 version. Maybe to avoid copyright, you could make a version with female characters instead? There was also a text based clone for DOS called Ario Bros, though that name might be too obvious. I would also like to see the Game & Watch Mario Bros on the 2600. Very different from the arcade game, but a nice game in its own right. Actually, I would like to see a lot of the Game & Watch games on 2600, including DK Jr.

2600 games that should have allowed Light gun support
BrianC replied to Prosystemsearch's topic in Atari 2600
I wouldn't mind seeing a port or a video of that game. I couldn't find a single video of the 70s qwak on youtube. I noticed Safari Hunt on SMS was also inspired by a 70s arcade game. Triple Hunt. -

Skeet shoot should have had light gun support and a mode where you shoot at ducks. -
Best Home Version of Mario Bros.?
BrianC replied to VectorGamer's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I like the 2600 version, but only with the fireball turned on. The limitation of one enemy per platform (if I remember correctly) hurts it. -
Jog my memory - once rare Atari(TM) game that's not any more
BrianC replied to MegaManFan's topic in Atari 2600
I played a little bit on Harmony Cart. It seems like the developer basically took the engine from 2600 Commando, added a ride-able tank, and changed it to Ikari Warriors. I like it, though. As far as late released games I like Radar Lock, Solaris, Jr. Pac-Man, BMX Airmaster, the Epyx games, Xenophobe, Road Runner, Klax (though the version I play wasn't released, it was released in EU), Crossbow, Off the Wall, and Desert Falcon. I found the TNT release of BMX Airmaster for cheap. I won't bother with the Atari one since it's extremely rare and, as far as I know, the exact same game.
